It’s stressful for me to write these, but as a victim who was mentally abused by narcissists and fought back, I may be able to explain why Selen chose to attempt suicide, twice.

First, the definition of **Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)**:
A mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. They need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them. People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence, they are not sure of their self-worth and are easily upset by the slightest criticism. [Source with further details](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20366662#:~:text=Narcissistic%20personality%20disorder%20is%20a,about%20the%20feelings%20of%20others.)

Now, the definition seems mild and not as harmful like domestic violence, and that’s when you have **severely underestimated how high narcissists put themselves above everyone, everything**. Look at Elira’s black screen video. Coworker attempted suicide? It’s the coworker’s fault and I am the victim.

The black screen video is actually a blunder move, where narcissists with overconfidence thinking they could manipulate public opinion for their own benefit, but instead blew their own innocent cover, a huge “mistake”.

Simplified version on how narcissists operate:

1. Participate in a relationship / social circle / workplace.
2. “Work” all the way up to gain trust, position (power) and resources, hence getting attention and importance.
3. “Recruit” flying monkeys ([psychology term](https://www.narcissisticabuserehab.com/types-of-flying-monkeys/)) with the gained position and resources .
4. Form clique* with the flying monkeys and use them to manipulate public opinions against non-compliant victim, or cooperate “dirty” actions, such as isolating the victim from the whole network and limiting resources. This is where mental abuse starts hitting really hard, forcing victims to submit or leave.

> *I am sorry that it sounded like I was referring to the clique rrat.

> I am talking about the Narcissist-Enablers(flying monkeys) relationship where they will eventually build an inner circle (clique), and use the network to further manipulate non-compliant victims.

> [“Narcissists are addicted to the drug of external validation, which makes them completely dependent on others to validate and make them feel good about themselves. That’s why narcissists often recruit enablers into their inner circles. “](https://www.choosingtherapy.com/narcissistic-enablers/#:%7E:text=Because%20narcissists%20are%20inherently%20self,something%20of%20value%20to%20them.&text=The%20narcissistic%20enabler%20offers%20the,to%20their%20aid%20when%20needed.)

In summary, narcissists drag and pull everyone around them, into the hellhole they make that highly benefit themselves. Selen was socially isolated, resource limited, and even not allowed to run away without their permission.

The worst curse I could wish upon an enemy, is to live, marry and work with narcissists. If you realized that you are with one, run away my friend. If you can’t run, fight, build a wall, then wait for the opportunity to run.

*EDIT: Removed AMP link and a typo

*EDIT2: Clarifying 4. not related to clique rrat

It looks like OP posted an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot).

Maybe check out **the canonical page** instead: **[https://www.narcissisticabuserehab.com/types-of-flying-monkeys/](https://www.narcissisticabuserehab.com/types-of-flying-monkeys/)**

I am sorry for what have happened to you. I hope you have people that support and love you at present. I wish you to be happy in your future.

I do agree that the Black Stream was incredibly fucked up, and definitely painted the trio in a *very* bad light. I also agree that it does make them sound narcissistic, Vox especially imo.

However, to me it looks like you’re using the clique rrat as part of your reasoning. I could be misreading your writing though, admittedly. I just want to remind everyone that to my knowledge there isn’t any actual proof behind the Elira Clique rrat.

I want to point out that I’m not disagreeing with OPs post or tryingto defend anyone. I’m just trying to make sure everyone knows what’s fact and what’s theory. Misinformation and wild conspiracies getting blended together with facts and events is how Niji gets to sweep everything under the rug.

Some people have equivocated it to being stuck in a cult as well, which is essentially like dealing with a bunch of narcissists who brainwash people into listening to them.

Considering how badly it lashed out at Doki when she tried to leave, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised.

Now, that’s not to say that people who attempt suicide can’t be narcissists themselves. There are people who have used suicide attempts as a way to manipulate people. I keep worrying that this is going to be another situation where unfortunately that person who is likeable on camera is in fact a horrible person off, and this whole time Selen has been manipulating everyone.

Kind of difficult to think about that with nijicorpo and sections of the niji fanbase constantly doing horrible things tho so until they stop doing that I won’t give those concerns much thought.

I hate it when I see  people like to brand Narcissist to anyone and everyone without understanding what Narcissist are and how they truly operate.

But not this post. OP is on point so good and  the simplified is excellent 💯.

To add one thing, those kind of people will  consciously think of you as theirs, like they own you.

Edit : They most of the time effective orator, atleast  socially. So, when you are in their playing field you will likely lose.  Never play their game.

Yeah I’m not buying that you are writing this out of the goodness of your heart or an actual victim of living with a family full of narcissists.

THAT’S what I’ve been saying!! I grew up in a household where most of the females are very VERY narcissistic and are a softspoken manipulator, even some male family members (i am only half sane bc my dad is supportive and drag me outta the mud) but jesus, i could tell you 101 on why i could agree to your statements

And not to mention, i could kinda feel some of the members, how they talk, how they act kinda.. kinda bothered me, like the red signal is ringing so loud out of my experience of mental abuse in my own household lmao
