Especially for the ‘tea party’ and it really was finally time to get the bike on the road, even if only for a few days; I got a 5 day registration plate which is available for test rides etc.
Friday night I cracked over to Bad Camberg with Ken on his Furano to meet up with the other guys who were turning up, but that was sadly only a 60km round trip.
Then Garry had requested to get his bum on the seat for Saturday to go to the oldtimer grand prix in Schotten.
Finally I got my chance again on Sunday for our Spessart tour.
This is the Horstein hill, which is quite narrow and tricky with some steep drop offs in a couple of places.
I’m still getting used to the 851 with it’s 16 inch wheels and still fitted with vintage tires.
But it is truely a dream to ride, I love the kick from the engine and the way it revs.
And the sound of course with the ‘kitty’ pipes, which you don’t get too much of here, because the tank mounted camera picks up more of the airbox ‘suck’ but it’ still pretty impressive.
Garry loved riding it on Saturday and I’m going to get one last ride in today hopefully before my 5 days are up.
enjoy : )
And I really appreciated that this bike is really a collectors piece as Garry and I pushed the total mileage up to around 6600km on the clock. About time too, it’s been off the road since 1995 !
