It’s only been a few weeks since the last Japan update video but there have been so many new essential changes and updates I just had to make another video about it so you aren’t caught off guard when you arrive in Japan several arrests being made in kabako highlighting the
Dangers of Shinjuku Mount Fuji’s entry price being set in Japan’s hot weather raising serious concerns are just a few of the important updates you need to know about so without further delay let’s get into these updates so you can properly prepare for your trip to Japan
If you are over welmed with planning the endless amount of things you can do for your upcoming trip to Japan well I’ve got some good news for you and that good news is my business HD in Japan Journeys after years of living in Japan I have gained a wealth of knowledge about how
To easily get around and help plan your Japan trip as efficiently as possible if you are interested contact me at my business email which is located right here or check out my website which is linked in the description below starting off we’re going to be discussing the
Dangers of Tokyo at the end of January over 10 people were arrested in the kabukicho district these individuals were arrested for impersonating employees from a popular chain restaurant and luring unsuspecting customers into predatory bars and clubs which would then scam those tourists out of their money this is a topic I have
Wanted to address with all of you for a while now and after seeing this news report being released I feel even more compelled to do so now for any of you who do not know kabako district is located at the heart of Shinjuku one of the major to destinations in Tokyo due
To its vibrant nightlife in quirky shops and bars and while Tokyo is without a doubt one of the safest cities to visit in the world there are definitely some areas you need to be a little more cautious of and when I mean to be cautious I’m not trying to say that
You’re going to get attacked or anything severe like that but there is a real chance you could become a victim of theft or scams because you drop your guard by thinking that Tokyo has no dangers at all and I can confirm this because I unfortunately know of of
Someone who was put in this exact situation to keep the story private and short for relevancy this person I know of started their night in Golden gy which is a famous drinking Street in Shinjuku after that the person headed to kabaki Cho and was then lured into a bar
Similar to the ones mentioned in the news article after going to the bar the next thing that they remembered was waking up in their hotel room the next day with all their money gone and a few other personal items missing from the night before so with this news article
And personal account in mind what I ultimately want you to take away from this is always be aware of your surroundings even in a city that is as safe as Tokyo as for Japan’s major cities specifically avoid people who are openly trying to get you into their bars
And always follow your gut instinct if it’s telling you something is off if you have a similar story to share and are comfortable in doing so please put your story down in the comments below so you can help other people that are coming to Japan avoid those similar troubles now
That we’ve gotten that serious information out of the way let’s move on on to some lighter news Tokyo’s newest team lab borderless opens after almost 2 years of being closed team lab borderless has made its official return and with its return comes some new and improved rooms that you can get lost in
You can check out some of the new displays like The Marble Room which is an amazing illusion that gives you the feeling you are lost in a sea of metal and marbles you can check out the light sculptures room where there are surreal illusions of what looks like you making
Your way through an infinite tunnel of light or you can check out one of the newest and best additions to team lab borderless The Bubble Room where you can make your way through a maze of tantalizing bubble-shaped lights not only are the rooms improved in the new
Team lab borderless but its location is also much better than its predecessor instead of it being located all the way out in odiva you’ll find the new team lab borderless located right in the heart of Tokyo’s newest and coolest shopping mall azabudai Hills in rongi if you’re interested in heading to Tokyo’s
Newest team lab Museum check out their website with which I have provided in the description below and if you want a video that goes into greater detail of Tokyo’s newest team lab borderless check out my other video where I go into great detail on how to find it what’s inside
How to book your tickets and everything else you need to know next up we have digital Nomad visas to discuss in a recent piece of interesting news Japan will soon accept long-term Visa stays for people who work remotely while this might not necessarily apply to everyone watching this video I thought it might
Be some interesting news to cover as I have definely gotten a few requests from some of my viewers about how they can live in Japan which for some of you it looks like the digital Nomad Visa might be the answer you’re looking for while the criteria isn’t exactly clear yet as
To who officially qualifies as a remote worker those who will be eligible will get an extended Visa of 6 months up from the typical 90-day tourist visa that most Visa exempt countries currently have for any of you who might be interested in this Visa keep following the channel as I will most certainly
Provide updates as they become available the new entry fee for Mount Fuji has been released not long after I covered the new Fuji limitations that will be implemented this summer the new entry fee was announced soon after that video to quickly recap last year was pretty
Rough for Mount Fuji and the staff who had to maintain it due to a massive influx of Tourism Mount Fuji was plagued with littering overcrowding and trashed public facilities due to overc capacity so in light of all of these issues Japan decided to implement a visitor cap and
Entry fee on Mount Fuji’s most popular hiking route to try and prevent the overc capacity issues the staff in Mountain had to deal with last year and while we received the news that the visitor cap was going to be set at 4,000 first we did not get news of the new
Entry fee until just a couple weeks ago but now that news is released and the new entry fee will be priced in at 2,000 Yen per person to me that price definitely seems reasonable as I’m sure those profits will go directly to the staff who maintained the mountain and to
Provide more funding to keep the facilities up up and running and the mountain clean but if you want to skirt those costs and still try to climb up Mount Fuji for free there are still multiple alternative trails that you can use to hike up unbeknownst to most tourists there are actually four main
Trails in total where you can climb up to mount Fuji’s Summit not only will you save yourself some money but you’ll definitely have fewer visitors on the Less Traveled paths I’ll link a website in description below that provides more info on how you can access these other
Three Trails up next we have the Tokyo Metropolitan G government building that is starting their own massive light display it appears that team lab borderless isn’t the only place in Tokyo that’s trying to put on a massive light show as Tokyo’s Metropolitan government building is making some big improvements
Of its own the TMG building was already a famous place to visit because of its observation deck you could use to check out Tokyo Skyline free of charge but now starting in late February Tokyo’s Metropolitan government building will start displaying the world’s largest open projection display tmg’s new new
Public light display will feature a massive light show over four stories high and will run free shows every night from 700 p.m. at 30 minute intervals so if you were on the fence of whether you should visit the TMG building or not this massive light display might tip you
Over to the side of actually going there but of course I’ll take some videos of it myself when it opens up so you can see firsthand whether it be worth visiting or not a little over 2 and 1/2 months ago the Noto Peninsula was absolutely devastated by the massive
Earthquake that Str truck on New Year’s Day and even though it’s been over a month and a half now there are still large parts of the peninsula that are reeling from the disaster and have barely been able to get things back to normal but I have some interesting news
For you did you know that you could have a direct impact on Noto peninsula’s recovery while still enjoying your trip to Japan well apparently you can and that would be by visiting kazawa City notto Peninsula is located just a little bit to the North of kazawa city the city
That is quickly becoming a part of Japan’s golden torist for route and although these two areas are very close to each other kazawa was miraculously largely unaffected by the earthquake allowing the famous city to operate at full capacity so with all of this news you might be wondering how exactly your
Visit to kazawa would help notto peninsula’s recovery well that is because there are still products as well as families in kazawa that are directly connected to Noto Peninsula and the residents of the peninsula are hoping that some of the profits from kazawa tourism spending will help flow up
Towards Noto ultimately helping with a quicker recovery to the city so if you’re still deciding whether you should include kazawa on your vacation or not now would be the best time to visit because not only would you be enjoying your vacation in Japan but you would also be directly supporting the
Residents of Noto Peninsula and helping them get to a quicker recovery and lastly we need to discuss Japan’s unusually hot weather it looks like Japan’s Heat Wave still continues to persist even through the winter and it is not a good sign for things to come in 2024 as of last week temperatures all
Across Japan reached near record highs for the month of February temperatures in the kushu region were reported to be very similar to the early days of summer and for us up here in Yokohama and Tokyo the temperatures felt like it should have been April rather than February
Even regions as far north as Hokkaido weren’t spared of this non-stop heat with sapoto posting temperatures they haven’t experienced in over 55 years now I am not sure what this all necessarily means for the fure future of Japan’s weather but I will say that this persistent heat has really not left
Japan since last summer and when that massive Heat Wave hit Japan last summer we definitely saw the effects it had on the climate and country with massive flooding hitting many areas of Japan and more severe storms and rain showers than usual which cause some very inconvenient issues for residents and let’s not
Forget the unbearably hot temperatures we had to endure as well so with all of that in mind make sure you pay attention to Japan’s weather as you’re trip comes closer and make sure to pack your clothes accordingly by doing so you’ll make sure you can pack as efficiently as
Possible and enjoy your trip to Japan email me to ask about my Japan planning services like this video if you found it useful subscribe for more content about Japan and check out my affiliate links in the description below for when you plan your next trip to Japan all right
That’s going to do it and until next time I’ll see you then

Japan is one of the safest countries on the planet
Great info! Heading to Tokyo in a month! Looking forward to going to Team Labs this time since I missed it in 2022!
So many great topics Alex , the heat yes! I returned from Japan on Wed night , it was 24° and humid that day , Azabudai Hills was amazing, I loved it so much, there were cherry blossoms out the front too !🌸 I never really thought I'd see them in Feb 😅 I know most people want to climb Mount Fuji I'd like to try the alternative trails you show instead, but I've always favoured seeing Fuji from a distance on a clear day and getting pics 🗻 On my trip I also got another favourite go toand it Mt Takao
I long for the day that I never have to hear about Teamlab ever again 😅
Japan convenience store is so underrated!! Every time I go to Japan I will only eat at conbini. Scammer won't get me for that trick
Yeah, the heat in Japan is no joke. When I was in Okayama, I found out firsthand. xD
where is the link to Fuji's trails?
Stop with the click bait bullshit. Never felt safer anywhere in my life. Tokyo is perfectly safe.
Indeed Japan is usually very safe ! but yes sometimes poeple forget or discard the fact that realistically there are still some things to keep un mind and be aware of, like everywhere in the world ! It is a country with all sort of poeple like everywhere else 😊
It’s an interesting topic that doesn’t get discussed so often 👍🏻
Never follow or give time to people who are offering free drinks or entertainment in shinjuku. They are everywhere and seek out English speakers by trying to act friendly.
Maybe avoid red light districts… I lived in a “slum” of Tokyo for 6 years and I never had a single issue.
"If you're totally overwhelmed about your tri-………………" YES I am VERY overwhelmed. Thus, thank you for these videos to help guide the planning! 😀
If you hang out in red light districts there’s going to be some dodgy stuff going on.
I was in Tokyo last year and I guess as long you don't think with your dick you'll be fine. Had never a situation where I felt unsafe.
You're either a 'Roppongi person' or you aren't. If it's not your kind of place (or price bracket), why go there? Oh, TeamLabs… facepalm
The nail in the coffin for me is that it takes too long to see everything properly. That's half a day in an expensive part of Tokyo I would never consider going to. I guess it's good for people who have lots of time in Tokyo and know their way around the Metro. I have neither.
TeamLab Planets? It's a foot bath and I've heard it smells of chlorine.
On one of my first trips to Tokyo I booked my hotel in Kabukicho before learning about the area's notoriety. I was approached several times by buskers trying to lure me into bars/clubs but because of my research online I knew these were traps and avoided them. Those things aside, Kabukicho was a very vibrant and entertaining place to stay.
TLDR: Keep you nose clean and got to bars in other districts.
Thanks so much for the valuable info! 🫶🏻 I will be visiting the first two weeks of March and I am SO excited to experience Japan for the first time 💜
Thanks for your informative videos and I would consider consulting you but I do get concerned about advertising other routes to climb Mt. Fuji. It's a sacred space and I have some concerns about how it is treated by foreigners.
Just got back from my 3rd trip in less than a year. Thought of a few topics you should do a video on before I go again in the fall. You are definitely my favorite Japan YouTuber! 😊
What do you recommend to exchange currency?
Wait, so there are free towers to go up and view Tokyo skyline? I thought it was $20 for any sky view
10 people arrested in a month? Heck in some cities 10 people get arrested in a day
Japan is dangerous, don't go there.
Thank you so much for the update!
Tokyo is very safe except for Kabukichu.
I played the Yakuza games, it taught me about these touts and their tricks.
And true enough at Kabukicho lots of touts will come at you and I pretend they don’t exist.
Thanks Kiryu Kazama!
im glad i dont drink like most people, i just have 2 or 3 shots and im done, id rather walk and drink.
10 arrested?! Tokyo keikan need to get busy.
Was hot last Monday and Tuesday. After that became cold again.
Japan is a fun place, no doubt, their food, and customer services are top notch, but only fun if you are visiting, live and work there is another story, very stressful due to harsh working culture and seniority hierarchy mentallity unless you are business owners or self employed, even harder for foreigners
I happen to have walked down one of those areas 👀 they saw me and they made a be line right for me. And they were very persistent to get me to go in the place they were in front of. The more I said no the more they tried. And the think was the guys were not even Japanese. Great video as always!!!
Very interesting video. I would love to see the light show and definitely would go to Kawaza City.
I need help!!!😢😢😢😢
I cant decide.
I am from the Philippines. My wife and i will visit Tokyo this March.
If you were to choose only 2 out of the 3. Which will you pick?
DisneySea
TeamLab
Harry Potter
😢😢 Please help!!!!!! 😅😅
It's the first I've heard of a izakaya clip joint.
Good luck trying to scam me, I don't drink alcohol😂 so a bar is not somewhere I would visit.
I was approached by a pimp in Shibuya last week. They showed me a couple of photos on their phone before asking me if I wanted to go and meet these girls. I laughed and told them I was good before leaving.
teamLab Borderless ❤
I've heard from Only in Japan that you need at least a 3m yen income per year to be eligible for the digital nomad visa, so there's that…
I feel for the same scam in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth
