Hey everyone Welcome to our adventure here in Kyoto Japan we’re embarking on a hunting trip into the ancient forests targeting boes and deer it’s going to be an experience to remember and I’m here with my friend Rio Master G is a legend around these parts he knows these Woods
Like the back of his hand today he’s going to show us the ropes and hopefully we’ll find our Quarry so into the forest we go it’s like stepping into another world we’re on the lookout for any signs of bores or deer beds Trails you name it
The numbers of deer and wild boore are on the rise leading to significant challenges for the nation’s Agriculture and Forestry sectors as a response both national and local governments are encouraging efforts to capture these animals for heading into the Wilderness we quickly found out the mountain was tougher than
We expected really slippery and steep I ended up slipping and falling a few times which really made me stop and think each fall had me wondering what if I went tumbling down 100 ft just the thought of that kept me on my toes we continued our search for Animals
Until it was time to wrap up for the day spee spee oh finding these animals is proving to be a challenge we’ve been searching for hours with no luck yet but it’s all part of the hunt even without a sighting today this experience is invaluable Kyoto’s green spaces are caught in a struggle
Between humans and nature the Lively Countryside is full of wildlife these animals just trying to survive often end up troubling Farmers we’re talking about damage to crops that’s added up to a whopping 490 million yen wild boes are the main troublemakers here leaving a trail of Destruction in their wake deer
And monkeys aren’t far behind each contributing to the ongoing challenge of living side by side with nature go so Master G came up with a plan B his buddy had set up a trap the day before and guess what they caught two deer now we’re gearing up to go and check it
Out we’ve come across two female deer in great shape and we’re about to make our final move fore fore after snagging those two deer the next step on our agenda is to clean them up we’ll be hanging them from trees to get the job done right it’s all part of the
Process if you see any animals that look hurt are limping Los hair super skinny or just seem weak it’s best to steer clear of them for eating always check out how the animal looks while it’s still moving around before you decide come foreign put this is some highquality loin meat
Venison is super lean and doesn’t have much fat so you’re getting way fewer calories and almost no fat compared to pork or beef plus it packs a punch with 1.7 times more iron next we head to master G’s base home to clean the meat it’s crucial to focus on hygienic and safe Meat
Processing jibi is the Japanese term for game meat specifically referring to wild animals that are hunted for food it encompasses a wide range of wildlife including deer boar and birds among others GB is celebrated for its taste nutritional value and sustainability as a food source in recent years it has gained
Attention for its role in managing Wildlife populations and promoting local Cuisine especially in rural areas of where hunting is part of the traditional lifestyle at his house we got treated to some smoked deer ham and wild boore Hot Pot honestly it was some of the tastiest
Meat I’ve ever had check this out it’s absolutely beautiful I’ll up for as we delve deeper into our own Journey these insights remind us of the complex relationship between humans and nature hunting for us is not just an adventure it’s a way to connect with traditional practices understand the balance of
Ecosystems and appreciate the roles we play in maintaining that balance it adds a layer of purpose to our Expedition one that respects the traditions of the past while addressing the needs of the present stay with us as we navigate the challenges and joys of hunting in Kyoto
Our journey is more than a quest for game it’s an exploration of culture nature and the bonds that tie them together
