On this day, I took a late-night bus to Osaka.
I left Tokyo at night and arrived early in the morning. We spent our time eating local Osaka gourmet foods such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki.
The maximum time you can stay in Osaka is 15 hours until the late-night bus leaves on your way home.
Now, let’s enjoy Osaka as much as time allows!

Good evening! It is now past 9pm. I’m at Tokyo Station at night. Well, I’m going to Osaka now. Because I have something to do in Osaka tomorrow. I had just eaten dinner at Tokyo Station before heading to Osaka tonight.
This time I’m not going to Osaka for work, so I feel a little different and relaxed. Of course, I’ll have time to eat some delicious food over there, so I’m looking forward to it♪ This time, I decided to take a late-night bus to Osaka.
I are scheduled to arrive in Osaka early tomorrow morning. The late-night bus is more tiring than the Shinkansen, but leaving at this time is exciting. Well then, good night. I will arrive in Osaka when I wake up. Arrived in Osaka! I slept well on the way.
The current time is 7:30 in the morning. This is a place called Namba in Osaka. Considering you can get here from Tokyo for about 2,000 yen, the late-night bus is definitely cheaper. Well, I think I’ll go eat breakfast first. I came to a store called “Maruichiya” near the bus stop.
It’s open 24 hours a day, so it’s a convenient restaurant for those who want to eat early in the morning. The inside of the restaurant was standing style. Which should I choose, udon or soba? I was confused about the Osaka-style “aburakasu udon.” Today I decided to try this “special udon”♪ (490 yen)
A gorgeous combination of tempura, fried tofu, and raw egg. I’ll enjoy having this. It’s delicious…iIt pervades my waking body… Udon is commonly eaten in Osaka. It goes straight into the stomach. You’ll be eating this up in no time. Fried tofu is huge♪ Fried tofu is called “kitsune.”
Sweet and juicy. This is a popular topping that goes well with udon. And I also want to eat salty tempura. Surprisingly, it has a good amount of ingredients and has a good texture. And I also broke the raw eggs that I had saved.
The soup will become mellow. The taste is different and delicious. I mixed in with the locals eating breakfast before work and quickly finished my meal. Well, I’m bloated, but there’s still time. I’m thinking of going to another place where I can kill some time.
The fact that there are so few people here is a unique sight in the morning. Walking through a quiet shopping street in the morning, I arrived at Marufuku Coffee Store Sennichimae Main Branch. This place is open from 8am and also has a morning menu.
The shop was founded in 1934 and has a retro atmosphere. As soon as I sit down, I look at the menu. I’m also confused about the morning set… I was curious about this food menu. I ordered this “tamagodake” with a drink set (1450 yen). I’ve been waiting! Looks delicious♪
The egg is so thick. First, let’s start with iced coffee. By the way, it already has sugar in it. It’s also perfect for waking up from sleep. Well then, egg sandwich too. It’s delicious♪ So fluffy. The eggs are moist and go well with the bread.
This too will be eaten up in no time. Add the lemon pepper on the side to make it spicy. Pickles and tomatoes are refreshing. Actually, I was confused about the pancakes on the signature menu, but… After eating udon and getting full, I suddenly felt sleepy when I sat down.
For some reason, I ended up choosing a sandwich that I could easily eat with one hand. Well, if you’re sleepy, just coffee might be fine. When I saw the sandwich I couldn’t resist lol. I was able to relax and enjoy the long-established coffee shop. Thank you for the meal! .
Well, it was almost time for my scheduled appointment, so I left the store. After this, I’m going to finish some errands and then go out for lunch again. Well, my business in Osaka is finished, so I have free time from now on until I return home in the evening.
So, let’s go have lunch right away. The first place I came to was a shop called Daikoku. Founded in 1902, this restaurant in the middle of the bustling downtown area has a long-established feel. The interior of the restaurant has a calm atmosphere with the warmth of wood.
What you can get at this restaurant is Kayaku Gohan (medium, 500 yen). I ordered the “Kayaku Gohan”, soup, and side dishes. It is only open for lunch from 11:30 to 3:00. They seem to be closed on Sundays, Mondays, and public holidays. After ordering and relaxing while waiting for tea…
First, the rice and side dishes came. As for the grilled fish, I was confused about mackerel and chose striped horse mackerel (650 yen). It’s a nice brown color. There is also “Cucumber Momi” (400 yen). The miso soup that came later was white miso and had an egg topping (300 yen).
And the main “Kayaku Gohan” is also open. It’s a beautiful fox color. Well, let’s start with the miso soup. Ah, it’s delicious…it has a gentle taste. It has a mellow and comforting taste typical of white miso. Then, once we had calmed down, we had “Kayaku Gohan.” Delicious♪ The soup stock is effective.
It has a gentle taste, but it’s not at all unsatisfactory. You can be satisfied with just “Kayaku Gohan” and miso soup. And grilled striped horse mackerel. The fat is glistening♪ Oh, that’s a delicious fish… The meat is chewy and the amount of salt is perfect. The skin is also juicy and delicious.
This was the correct choice for striped horse mackerel. The cucumber leaves are pickled in vinegar, which leaves your mouth feeling refreshed. The eggs in the miso soup are also delicious. “Kayaku Gohan” is Gomoku Gohan or Takikomi Gohan made by mixing ingredients. “Kayaku” means to add medicine.
This term refers to the act of mixing medicinal herbs with Chinese herbal medicine, and was used among pharmacists in Osaka. Later, rice that had added seasonings to increase its nutritional value came to be called “kayaku gohan.” In familiar places, “kayaku” is sometimes written on small packets of cup noodles.
By the way, “Kayaku Gohan” is along with “Fukagawa Meshi” in Tokyo and “Sayori Meshi” in Gifu. As a representative dish of Japan, it has been selected as one of the “Japan’s Five Great Meals.”
Today, I was able to fully enjoy the taste of a long-established restaurant that continues to pass on the “kayaku gohan” tradition. Ah, it was delicious…I was able to enjoy Osaka’s specialty this time as well. Well, after leaving the store, I walked to Dotonbori.
Dotonbori is a famous tourist destination and a popular spot in Osaka that is crowded with people day and night. Pass through Dotonbori and head north a little. I came to an area called “America Village” in a corner of Shinsaibashi.
It is said to be an area where young people from Osaka gather, and there are many general stores and apparel shops. I would like to try Takoyaki, a classic Osaka gourmet dish, at this “America Mura”. I came to a shop called “Kogaryu Honten”. There are various flavors.
Since it was my first time, I ordered the classic sauce and mayonnaise (550 yen). This is a popular restaurant where customers keep coming back even while they are waiting. And the takoyaki I received… You can eat it at Sankaku Park, which is the central spot of Amerikamura, right in front of the shop.
Delicious! It’s so creamy. Piping hot takoyaki is always delicious♪ The sauce is fragrant and delicious, making you want to eat more and more. The octopus is also small, but it has a presence. The red ginger flavor is also good. There are many other people eating takoyaki at Sankaku Park.
We ate standard Osaka gourmet food in a place with a lot of foot traffic. Thank you for the meal! . Now, there is one more restaurant in “America Village”. I came to a shop called “Ganso Ice Dog”. The shop’s signature menu is the “Ice Dog,” which is ice cream sandwiched between bread.
It was said to be a specialty of “America Village”, so I was curious about it. This is Ice Dog. I chose simple vanilla (500 yen). Fried koppepan with plenty of vanilla ice cream. The bread is warm. Enjoy the ice cream before it melts. Ah, it’s delicious♪
The bread is crispy and the oil oozes out when you bite into it. And cold ice cream goes perfectly with warm bread. This is so delicious, I want to try making it at home. Please note that the ice cream will melt rapidly, so be prepared for your hands to become sticky.
I finished all of Amerikamura’s popular sweets in no time. It’s been a while since I’ve stopped by Amerikamura, but I was able to thoroughly enjoy the gourmet food. Now, let’s go a little further north. There it is, there it is. Next, I came to a shop called “Mochisho Shizuku Shinmachi Branch”.
I thought the mochi at this shop looked delicious, so I stopped by. The rice cakes lined up at the store are just beautiful♪ This looks like it would be good as a souvenir. Today, I decided to eat at a restaurant.
This time, I’m planning on taking a late-night bus on my way home, so it won’t be damaged by the time I get home. I ordered tea and 3 sweets. On the left is “Framboise Daifuku” (440 yen). In the middle is “Gastronomic Herb” (390 yen).
And on the right is “Tamba black bean mochi” (300 yen). Everything is beautiful. For tea, I ordered a blend of 29 types of tea leaves (770 yen). “Framboise Daifuku” is apparently dyed with beets. There are strawberries inside. It would be a shame to ruin it, but let’s have it.
Ah, it’s delicious♪ I like the flavor of the strawberries. Kiichigo is mixed with gyuhi. The sweet white bean paste goes well with the sourness of the strawberries. The tea is also fragrant and delicious. It’s cold and you can cool down. And this is another beautiful “gastronomic herb”. Delicious with a slight sweetness.
This is a jelly-like Japanese sweet made by melting agar and solidifying it with sugar. Create an original design by pouring edible flowers or adding color. It is a sweet that can be enjoyed not only by its taste but also by its appearance.
The last dish, “Tamba black bean mochi,” is luxurious with large black beans from Tamba. The soft mochi and salty black beans are a perfect match. The rice crackers and black beans that came with the dish at the end were delicious and completed the meal along with the tea.
I had a relaxing time in the calm, gallery-like interior. Thank you for the meal. I’ll buy some souvenirs before heading home. In addition to the rice cakes we ate, there were also products that could be taken home at room temperature. I bought some of this “Shinmachi Monaka” and took it home (220 yen).
After this, I stopped by a public bath and then headed to Shinsaibashi Station. I’m thinking of finding a place where I can kill time until the evening. Finally, I plan to take a night bus to Osaka Station and have dinner. I spend my time working at a cafe inside a subway station.
I was already full for lunch, so I decided to work to empty my stomach. Well then, it’s about time, so let’s go to Osaka Station! . I took the Midosuji Line and got off at Umeda Station, which is near Osaka Station.
I’m thinking of eating Osaka’s standard gourmet food in the evening as well. Walk a little east from Umeda Station to an area called Doyama. The store is at the end of this narrow alley. So, I ended up at an okonomiyaki restaurant called “Dontaku”. Although it had just opened, it was already quite busy.
And right in front of my eyes, I hear a nice sound and a delicious smell. After looking at the iron plate in front of me for a while, I ordered a beer (500 yen). After all, having beer in front of the iron plate is gorgeous♪
It’s delicious… it was hot today and it soaked through my body. And of course I’ll order the okonomiyaki… First, I ordered my favorite dish, “Tonpeiyaki” (1000 yen). Expectations are high for the thick pork loin. The scallops next to me look delicious too…I can drink beer just by looking at this sight.
And when I cracked the eggs, “Tonpeiyaki” was almost finished. Add pork loin to the rolled egg. Finish with mayonnaise, mustard, and sauce. Cut with a trowel and you’re done! . It looks really delicious… I’ll enjoy having this! This is delicious…the pork loin is so soft. The combination with beer is the best♪
The aroma of the sauce is also irresistible. The mustard mayo is a nice accent. My appetite has increased and I feel like I can eat as much as I want. After all, fatty meat is the most delicious. And, of course, I also ordered okonomiyaki. It’s being built smoothly over there.
After all, okonomiyaki is the star of teppanyaki. And the finishing touch is right in front of your eyes. It’s well done and feels good to watch. Finally, sprinkle with bonito flakes and green seaweed to complete! . A visual that allows you to enjoy the real pleasure of Teppanyaki♪ It looks delicious…
I’ll enjoy having this. It’s delicious♪ It’s crispy on the outside. It’s light and fluffy, and you can eat it all the time. Being able to eat hot food all the time is also a privilege of the iron plate. It has plenty of toppings such as shrimp and pork, making it very filling.
That looks delicious too…next time I’ll order yakisoba as well. The TV in the back was playing a baseball game. If there’s a TV in a store in Osaka, it’s likely that they’ll be showing baseball games. When I watch baseball, I feel like I’ve actually come to Osaka.
I ate the entire okonomiyaki with the locals in the restaurant where the TV was playing. Well, after leaving the store with a full stomach… Until it was time to board the night bus, we spent time drinking Osaka’s famous mixed juice at a coffee shop.
The bus will arrive in Tokyo the next morning, completing the trip in 3 days and 0 nights. Even though I was only able to stay for one day, I really enjoyed it. Also, even if I don’t have anything to do, I might take a night bus somewhere.
Come to think of it, I feel like I ate a lot of eggs today. The sure thing is udon, miso soup, and “Tonpeiyaki”, which are 5 pieces.
If you include egg sandwiches and takoyaki, you seem to be eating a lot, so it might be a good idea to hold back for a few days lol. Well, all that’s left to do is sleep, so that’s all for now. Thank you for watching till the end!

I simply adore your vids, they’re my fav Japanese food travels! You are a natural poet & your descriptions touch my heart! ❤
During my last month trip to Japan, i feel like Japan is lacking a normal coffee shop. They seem to have only Starbucks and Hoshino Coffee. As I skip Starbucks, I really need to rest my legs, drink a cup of coffee to chill as I`m too full. So in the end, I went to Hoshino and feel so pressured to buy their set, I planned to take away the food but sadly they dont allowed. Seriously, I just want a cup of coffee and sit down for awhile… i dont know if we can just ordered drink as the place is so fancy
禦好燒那一段是鐵板美食同時也是藝術啊~~每道菜都好吸引我啊😍
Coming to Japan for my first time in March. I don’t eat any seafood though. I don’t even want fish sauce as a ingredient in my food. Pray for me
I think you should talk!
I like the video and love the foods you're showing, only the subtitles are way too many, I'm reading all the time and can hardly look at the video. Please use way less subtitles. Not complete stories.
Everything looks delicious, but especially the udon. 🥢
