Most Thrilling Moment of My life In Tokyo

[Applause] Sorry um [Applause] is oh [Applause] yes plus please what’s up oh [Applause] shall i speak in japanese or english oh english oh your english is good perfect thank you very much so we um as i said in japanese i’ll repeat myself this is the japanese traditional drumming we call this wadaiko

Japanese drums and also it means drums with harmony it comes with harmony yes so like um as you can see um when we play the drums right there’s no maestro like an orchestra right so what we what we do is that we unite our heart in one

In that sense it’s drums with harmony right it has a long history about more than 2000 years 2000 years and it has a very close relationship with our japanese tradition and our history right so like i mean i think the previous years in the beginning it was used as a japanese um

In uh religious ceremony where um when we prayed to our god for the harvest our crops right we dreamt this and send a message to the god who’s in above the sky right and then samurai war period we use this to send the message And recently now it has changed its role as a performance where we perform this drums as a team in the on the stage so there is a long history and low role has been changing um time by time right but it has been very close to japanese people’s heart

I think overall that’s a brief introduction of the what i call amazing sorry i didn’t ask your name would you sorry i forgot to introduce myself my name is yo taro i’m from um professional japanese drum group sai right this kanji behind uh this shows sai by the way sai means um colorfulness

In japanese so um there’s a lot of characters in our team and now there’s a lot of variation in our performance so in that sense uh we are trying to um share that um the colorfulness and bright people’s heart through our japanese drumming performance cool and how long have you been practicing this

Uh myself uh this is my 10th year actually most of our um team is from same high school oh same high school yes our there’s our high school in kanagawa yes and after graduation from that high school everybody went to different universities but we united once again

Right and started as uh how can i say just a university student club right but us uh by doing performance performance we were so fascinated by this um wonderful um instrument right uh we decided to go as a pro cool so now we are now um start was just a student

Drumming group right but now we are perform a professional um drumming group amazing then uh now you do it as a job like a full-time yes job for living yes indeed yes oh that’s cool so you uh can you say where do you usually perform this uh we

Are now originally based in um tokyo okay katsushika is it okay if we speak in japanese yeah yeah sure anytime you wanna anytime you wanna switch to japanese yeah it’s okay because i think uh our uh like introduction okay is how long have you been playing drone

Zero two days the first time yeah i wanted to highlight that okay cool thank you so um before moving to the next session uh just we would like to uh kindly uh just introduce right the types of the japanese drugs is [Applause] foreign foreign okay [Applause] oh hi Oh boy Hey [Applause] yes foreign So right Foreign Foreign [Applause] foreign okay one two one Hey Oh [Applause] foreign [Applause] yes oh [Applause] so Oh oh Ah Hey Oh [Applause] foreign oh foreign foreign [Applause] Okay Okay Thank you for watching thank you goodbye

  1. my god this dude is like living the dream. Kinda like the plot of a shounen manga.

  3. These Rikshaw people are very honourable people. It is easy to see, They are kind considerate and free in spirit. Congratulations to all.

  4. That drummer's English was excellent – fascinating – I'd have asked him a ton more questions. For example, I wonder if tradition of drumming ceremonies which originated in China was ever transposed to Japan. Martial arts schools often had a Lion Dance and associated drumming with the opening of such. I wondered if in Japan they "simply" had drumming performances to wish businesses good fortune upon opening "back in the day".

  5. I'm in love with the style of wars and music as a child and also! The encitivo of the drums to go to querra because many people don't know! These drums were a warning for war in the ocean or temple! If you are gaijin listen and or dare to listen! these sounds please run away as the japanese want blood! kkkkk Playing is a culture of signal and warning in the hedo era! It's a warning practice! for the population! it is very good! congratulations to all of you!
