The “Kuchu Teien Observatory of the Umeda Sky Building” is a landmark of Umeda, Osaka. It is the symbol of futuristic Architectural design.
The 173 meter tall building consists of two towers that are connected with each other by the “Floating Garden Observatory” on the 39th floor.
Now it’s time to explore Hiroshi Hara’s futuristic Architectural design connecting two skyscrapers with an aerial garden bridge. This 40-story, twin super high-rise was completed in 1993
From this 3rd floor elevators, you will reach to the to the 35th floor.
This tube-type see-through escalator will take you from the 35th to the 39th floor. You can feel the uplifting feeling toward the sky, as if you are pulled inside of a spaceship.
Now we are in the observatory deck of 40th floor. Here you find 35-meter-long glass counters and due to the observatory’s unique ‘floating’ design while enjoying your coffee you can feel that you are floating over the sky. You can enjoy special coffee and snacks in cafe SKY 40.
As the roof is kind of doughnut shape so it provides a breathtaking 360-degree view of entire Osaka city. Far away you can get a view of Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, Awaji Island, Mt. Rokko, Tempozan Ferris Wheel and skyscrapers of Umeda.
The Kuchu-Teien Observatory is open air, so you can feel the breeze in your face from almost 173 meters in the air. You can test your fear of heights by walking across the deck
In England, it was selected into the “Top 20” list of world buildings as a thrilling skyscraper.
It’s a thrilling experience to be in the “THE WORLD’S HIGHEST ESCALATOR”. From this forty-meter see-through inclined escalator you can enjoy the spectacular view of Osaka city. While looking at the bottom you will feel like hovering in the sky. It’s an amazing feeling.
If you want to see the observatory on the 40th floor and the open-air floating garden rooftop, then you need to collect your ticket from here.
From here you can see the iconic Gate Tower Building. The Hanshin Expressway passes directly through its 5th, 6th, and 7th floors. There are lots of roads that pass under buildings but here the road connects two elevated highways and passes through the Gate Tower building. The highway road is suspended on both sides, so it doesn’t really touch the building. It looks like a tunnel within a tunnel.
