Now loading the video…. January 29th, 2024 Marunouchi, Tokyo, Japan Back again at Tokyo Station Today, we take a Shinkansen Gran Class(First Class) from Tokyo to Nagano This is my second time to try Gran Class! The fare in Gran Class from Tokyo to Nagano is “14,750JPY/103.2USD”
Usually, Gran Class offers complimentary beverages and light meals on board But the train I’m taking today has no attendants and food service on board just luxurious seats and space of First Class Let’s see what’s it like However, all Gran Class passengers can use a station lounge before the ride
Welcome to View Gold Lounge The lounge did not allow me to flim inside so only photos I took I’ve got a complimentary hot coffee, cookies, water, and green tea bottle The lounge has no food service You can enjoy some old photos and artworks regarding Tokyo Station exhibited on the wall
They have a wide selection of herb teas, Mighty Leaf 6 kinds of herb tea can be brew on the spot I chose Hibiscus tea Luxurious tea time in the middle of the busy station, nice Let me have lunch before riding the train Soba Restaurant Tamejiro Pay at the vending machine
Duck Meat Soba, 1,020JPY/7.1USD Duck meats are pretty popular in Japan The soba noodles comes with a complimentary snack Yatsuhashi, Kyoto confectionery It was a very delicious soba noodles in a good vibe restaurant There are 4 Shinkansen(high-speed) lines that start from Tokyo Station
For this travel, we take Hokuriku Shinkansen line which is from Tokyo to Kanazawa(450.5km/279.9km) On a Hokuriku Shinkansen train, Hakutaka, we travel 226.4km/140.6mi to Nagano in about 1 hour and 10 mins Hakutaka consists of 12 coaches and 3 classes Gran Class is the most expensive class of Shinkansen
Hakutaka is a futuristic-looking train with the sharp face Time to board! There is only one coach for Gran Class and only 18 seats It has a 2-1 seat configuration I booked a solo-side seat Luxurious seat like a private jet The overhead compartment is like those of an aircraft
Feel like we are in an airplane first class Large window We’ve got a Christmas present We get in-train slippers Feeling more luxurious 12:24PM, train left Tokyo on time Let’s go on a seat tour Coat hooks Blind Seat reclining Separate reclining for legrest, seat, and backrest It moves smooth and quiet
You can also recline all the parts at one time As you may notice, the reclining is done withing the “shell” so you can recline the seat without the need to care about the passenger behind This is what we need on every transit Cocktail tray Foldable table It’s a large one Magazines and stuff
You can refer to the seat guide Reading light which turns on and off smooth Large neckrest which is adjustable Power outlet and WiFi which is not so fast Snack time Let’s eat the snack that I got at the soba restaurant, Yatsuhashi
It is made from glutinous rice flour, sugar, and cinnamon and has a very hard texture It’s the most popular sounvenir snack from Kyoto Prefecture You notice there is one more button that calls an attendant This button works when Gran Class has in-cabin attendants on board But this train not, just seats
We left Omiya Station, Saitama Prefecture After Omiya, train begins high-speed running Hokuriku Shinkansen is the slowest high-speed rail in Japan, 260kmph/161.5mph top speed The fastest in Japan is 320kmph/198.8mph of Tohoku Shinkansen What’s the fastest rail in your country? Tell me in the comment section! Let’s explore the Gran Class coach
Corridor feels luxurious enough with Sakura(cherry) trees designed on the wall We’ve got a luxurious washbasin with a curtain Soap, water, and dryer are all sensored It’s a nice train Restroom which is so spacious (accessible restroom) Compact sink Diaper changing stations Baby rest Toilet is a quality one like a home toilet
With several functions including Washlet As far as I know, Hakutaka’s toilets are the most quiet of all trains in Japan Men’s only restroom Women’s only restroom Here is Green Class, which is 2nd class of the train with 2-2 seat configuration The seats look luxurious enough Standard Class (3rd class)
2-3 seat configuration and look cramped We go through Saitama Prefecture and enter Gunma Prefecture We get to see the Mt. Fuji-like snowy mountain in the distance That is Mt. Asama, known as one of the world’s most active volcanoes at 2568 m/8425 ft It looks like Mt. Fuji and is beautiful
We run through tunnels for a while After Gunma, we get in Nagano Prefecture Here is Karuizawa area of Nagano which is famous a summer resort Oh, Mt. Asama again We get much closer to the mountain in Nagano than in Gunma The scenery around Karuizawa is spectacular with Mt. Asama
Nagano Prefecture is full of mountains and great natures We are apporoaching central Nagano, Nagano City Look at how the city is surrouded by great mountains They are all snowy mountains in winter and you see many ski resorts in the prefecture Arriving at Nagano Station Already a lot of tourists on the platform
Arrived at 1:53PM Thank you Gran Class and I can’t wait to see you again HOPEFULLY Nagano is one of the must-stay areas in Japan and I gurantee you will be amazed From now, I’ll go visit a unique place where monkeys bathe in a hot spring in the deep snow mountains
It takes about 2 hours and a half from central Nagano At Nagano Station, we transfer for Nagano Dentetsu Line, a local railway line of Nagano And we take a Yukemuri Limited Express train bound for Yudanaka The train has an observatory deck at the very front of the train, which is unique
Cabin is full of tourists from overseas (I hear a lot of languages) Nagano Dendetsu Line runs through a scenic area where you see snowy mountains in the distance This train goes to the nearest station to the monkey hot spring
The 1st deck of the very front car is for observatory and driver’s room is on 2nd deck It’s a very interesting train We are going up the hill and get closer to the mountains And we get more and more snow on the ground
We travel about 50 mins from central Nagano and arrived at Yudanaka terminal Take a local bus I’m actually supposed to visit the monkey hot spring tomorrow so for today, I’ll stay at a Ryokan(Japanese style hotel) in the nearest hot spring resort, Shibu Onsen Here is the Ryokan hotel that I stayed at Kanaguya
I’ll upload a full video about this Ryokan another day so stay tuned It was a great stay The next day I visited the monkey hot spring It took about 50 mins from the hotel So many tourists come here to see monkeys bathing in the hot spring, which can be seen only here
They bathe like humans do Thank you for watching this video today Please leave a like or comment if you liked this video Rock, Scissors, Paper… 1 2 3 “Scissors” See you in the next video!

In America train faster. 1,000,000 mph!
Hi: In Spain the "High speed" which is what fast trains are called reaches a maximum of 330kh. There are three types of trains. AVE from the Spanish public company, Avlo, which is the low-cost company, of RENFE, which is what the Spanish public train company is called, and two private ones, one is called UIGO and is low-cost, there is a French company, and then there is Yryo is an Italian railway company, and it is the only one that uses Japanese suspension, the rest European.
Ha! Rock!
Hello from Pennsylvania in the USA! 🌿✨🌹✨🌿
Our fastest train is Amtrack's Acela:
"The new Acela will operate at top speeds of 160 mph vs. today’s fleet, which operates at top speeds of 150 mph."

Hello ! n 2007, a converted train reached a speed of 574.8 km/h on the new LGV Est Européenne. SNCF, Eurostar and Thalys trains travel between 300 and 320 km/h depending on the section
Thank you for the video
Enviously watching this whilst standing in a crowded train that is very, very late. Wishing I was there and not here.❤
Hokuriku has most modern suspension of any HSR. It's design is way smoother than Tokkaido or TGV. It's final word is HSR technology until next generations.
Good video i enjoyed watching Thsnkyou
I believe those monkeys have more fur, then other primates that I've seen. Thank you for the upload
Hi. The monkey video was so fascinating. really lucky people who stay there in the vicinity of mountains. And the air also looked very clean.
Vander bharat 130kmh – 160kmh max 😂😥
Deutschlands schnellster Zug ist wohl der ICE3. Er soll bis zu 300kmh fahren. Ob er wirklich so schnell fährt, weiß ich leider nicht.
Viele liebe Grüße ❤

Hi, from Italy. We have 4 High Speed Lines: Freccia Rossa (max 300km/h), Freccia Rossa 1000 (max 400km/h), Freccia Argento (250km/h) and Italo EVO (low co2 emissions) (max 250km/h).
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Truly enjoy your videos. Thank you for allowing to live vicariously through your videos as I doubt I would ever get to visit your area of the world. The only time I have ever been on a train is at an amusement park like Disneyland. The network of public transportation you have in Japan is mind blowing to me. So very cool. Thank you for sharing your country with us. Keep up the good work!
China has the fastest trains in the world with the Maglev at 460 km/h. Several countries have done tests reaching higher but are not in production.
Продолжайте снимать видео это действительно интересно !
Wow! So luxurious!
最高です🚃
😘😘😘
Warm greetings from Siberia, Omsk! Thanks for your wonderful videos!
nossa que legal, acabei de assistir um video quando você fala que um dia queria andar de primeira classe. CONSEGUIU !!! omedetou gozaimasu !!!
In Australia, the maximum speed in passenger service is about 160km/h. With a population of 25.5 million people in an area of the continental USA, it'd be way too expensive to build anything like the Shinkansen. I shudder at how much it would cost to travel on it.
I like this video.
3:30 Really? We have it in Indonesian restaurant. The menu is "Bebek Goreng" (Fried Duck). Served with sambal (chili paste).
Hi. Why no food service in Gran Class this time? Thank you.
Hi, I‘m from Germany, fastest ICE is ICE/V (406km/h); regular ICE3 travels 320/330km/h. German Transrapid runs 505km/h, but it’s a magnetic levitation train.
In germany we have ice….Not so good ….
Hi from indonesia.. We have fast train call whoosh the speed reach 350km/hour must try 👌
@travelgeekphotography, I really love your vids, they each are bringing me closer and closer to Japan. Something about this video feels very, very strange and unsettling to me. It’s entirely your style, your artistic eye… but it’s also too perfect. The rule of thirds, the lens flare and blurs, the finishing lighting and color composition. It’s too precise. It almost hurts my eyes st some points. Is this AI? How much, just edit, full concept? So so strange
The fastest rail way in our country is
60 kmph
Philippines
Обезьяны просто бесподобные,поездка интересная.Вам спасибо.
