    Wow, there were people directing folks through construction zones at zero dark thirty in the morning. Don't think I have ever come across that in American cities at any time of day. 😲

    These walks are alway bittersweet. On the one hand it's nice to watch them, on the other it makes me want to go back. AFAIK foreign tourists still need to be guided around rather than being able to go anywhere at will.

    I lived in Detroit and grew up in the 70's and 80's. Even Japans worst area's are Nothing like 8 Mile or Joy Rd. And we were considered tame compared too Chicago and NY. Many guns and Many knives. Many.

    five reasons why japanese doesn't make good friends:

    1 they choose who is worth to hear their tatemae (truth thoughts ) and prefer to use tatemae ( lies) no matter how hard we're polite or nice
    2 they only thinks to work-work
    3 they're too serious and too positive
    4 they never wants to learn internatuional languages, and when we speak poorly japanese they mocks at us
    5 they have xenophobia

    i guess koreans are just like them.
