Bullet train ride down to Osaka Are you having fun on the train yeah What are you drinking what are you eating beer so we got a Bento Box cool there’s rice underneath and this is like a green tea yes it’s a fish isn’t it I don’t know It yeah you’re done you think you’re a 20 pinto box I think it’s a fish egg sack so when you get to where you think is the right place for the Metro if you look across the tracks there’s almost always somewhere aboard he tells you the direction
See the little arrows and where you’re going and the it was always mean Metro so in the Metro so far about Tokyo and Osaka if you look above the doors on either the right or the left or not to the side I’ll show you where you are and how many more
Shots of English and Japanese makes it super helpful to make sure you’re going the right way so we just got to our room the Holiday Inn Express Osaka downtown really nice clean bathroom oh my God look at this shower it’s like 30 different knobs and sprayers from every angle that should be
Nice the room is a bit small it looks a little bit like a hospital in here I guess fridge safe even a dehumidifier and pretty nice view of the city from up here on the 20th floor this is the famous signboard building here the glico running dude
See there’s tons of people here taking pictures of them this place is very cute with with a lot of lights and you see the Don Quixote well Blue Dude yes I see the Don Quixote on tax free and the cook on the other side Chris just had to get this little grilled cheese looking thing the grilled cheese it’s very strange because it’s kind of sweet With cheese but it’s very soft is it good We found this little Riverboat Cruise it was a thousand yen which is about seven dollars takes 20 minutes Thank you And we are kind of scared yeah it’s loud it’s creepy it makes all sorts of weird sounds we’re in the ferris wheel is this a good time to tell Chris that this is actually like a roller coaster and it keeps spinning around I hope not because I
Don’t like roller coasters but I like the first we also I can go see the city from mobile a different type of Ferris wheel it’s like a big oval it doesn’t go around Foreign They’re not bad at all it’s just they’re a very strong flavor I guess and it’s not our taste we were no crazy about Seafood I tried one that was me I was done so today is our second day in Osaka and today we’re gonna go check out a region
Called Nara it’s really known for its deer that we’ll walk up to you so you can feed them and they bowed you and it just seems like the coolest thing in the world there’s a ton of uh Buddhist temples there and Shinto shrines and everything else cool about Japan I guess Everybody busy busy busy busy I’d like to point out just how clean the Metros are look no graffiti no trash so the tourist information gave us a pretty helpful little map of a lot of the main attractions here in Nara really helpful resource or tourist information centers it’s always nice to stop in and ask them
What you should see or do even if you already have a plan because you never know what you’ve missed or if there’s a little Festival in town or something of that nature so I got my deer Oh okay okay okay okay okay okay thank you stop Mal hey okay you get that way okay it’s a dangerous thing yeah okay okay no war I’m out yeah here you go you’re gonna try to feed the other one here I’m gonna see if you can get them to about Okay no ow what you get a bottle for me huh are you a little cutie no okay there you go good job [Laughter] Chris wants to see the little guy oh that was so cute that’s the temple we’re looking for today EG Temple and of course Chris is looking at more ice cream to go get I didn’t like that all right here’s the big Temple I’m not sure if we have to pay to get in but we’ll find out oh there’s restrooms right outside I wonder how old this gate is it is super huge looks pretty old too it’s like all the paints chipping away oh wow uh fujin and raijin again Yeah this is a Buddhist temple I think so one of these guys is fujin and the other one of these guys is rygen this guy here is pretending to feed the deer and then walking away and I’m sort of hoping he ends up like that sign behind him
Don’t pretend to feed the deer and then take their cracker away it is not very nice this Temple is giant though we’ll see if we find here there was a cultural Museum back here and a couple of other exhibitions in this area Temple was built at the behest of the emperor Shuma
Uh who hoped it would be the head Temple of the Buddhist Buddhist that shines throughout the world like the sun as the central Buddhist deity of the koku Bungie system of provincial temples so to go see the temple was six seven hundred Yen no 600 Yen and then it was
500 to go to the museum ozone property or we bought the combo ticket for a thousand yen to see both which seven dollars really a nominal fee So there’s three giant I call them Buddha statues but this this different name I’m assuming that’s his name her name the deity’s name reconstruction of the original temple one to 50 scale as it existed in 1912. the back side of the great Buddha statue just so large this place is so impressive
The size of this building is truly impressive All Wood Construction very very little steel just to hold the pillars together just so impressed with the Artistry and all these sculptures and the wood carving absolutely amazing and I think the main Buddha is that made out of metal
I’m not sure what type of thing it’s such an impressive building thank you it’s nice beautiful Botanical Garden where all the water in the Stream is though maybe it’s a natural stream and it just runs dry sometimes of year Thank you So these are re-records one of the mics was off so here is the five-story Pagoda is a National Treasure it was built in 7 30 and we built in 1461. five stories tall and 51 meters he’s the biggest Pagoda today’s our third day in Osaka and this
Morning I thought I’d show you the breakfast here at the Holiday Inn Express this is what I got this morning some mopo tofu with some rice miso soup And some fruits it’s actually a really good breakfast and it’s the only hotel that we found that had a free breakfast it’s so nice to have a free broadcast so today anyways guys we’re gonna go to the aquarium to a giant Ferris wheel to this really cool Shrine that has like a I
Don’t know like a demon for an entry and we’re oh we’re going to the floating Garden that looks really cool and the observatory the Skywalk where are we at babe in the whale shark smell so the aquarium was 2400 Yen each so less than 20 dollars
Right a couple 17 or something let’s go check out the aquarium yeah I don’t know what type of fish it is that’s a pretty cool walk through fish tank here Some more fish from South America and actually for a whale shark this one’s probably pretty small it’s probably a juvenile blue and white lobster that’s pretty cool my favorite are these animals which is a way bigger than the one I saw the blue ones in Australia the pinkies and favorite favorite
Do you have animals So that is where we’re going that looks so cool up there I took a little walking around but we finally think we found the entrance to the egg this guy Observatory it’s an observation deck but they call it an observatory it’s sort of a bad translation huh
I always thought of an observatory is you watch it from you like you’re watching the planets or the Stars The Observatory the Skywalk all about the architecture the dream mid-air Garden that’s supposed to be really cool right there in the skywalks which are these diagonal walkways I go up and down
So this escalator is in one of those diagonal tubes that you can see from the ground level that’s pretty cool they’re so cool so we keep walking around and see the Beautiful view of Osaka from here but they are cute because they all have different colors what color would you pick
This one is 2002 natsumi so they have grave 1999 I think this is the most interesting things how the elevator goes the escalators escalators go in the spirit two elevators escalators and another elevator or stairs to get all the way up here and it was 11 per person to come here 1500 Yen
But this is interesting it’s nice it really is and you don’t want to go around because I want to see more of this city from up above still beautiful views of the city in every direction so amazing to me how large I think these cities are this one is the second biggest city Foreign We’re leaving the observation deck now here at the sky tower really cool Georgia’s point of there really wasn’t a garden out there got a cool little stop we only spent about an hour and a half here now we’re going to go back into the Metro down to Namba station where we
Scheduled a free walking tour and we actually might learn something about the city of Osaka so come along with us and let’s see what we learn about Osaka all right so we finally got to the point where we had to put more money on our metro card which is our sweeping car
Really easy to do these machines you just hit the English buttons yes stick your card in and then you select how much money you want to add I added 5 000 Yen put your cash in and you’re all done super easy to do no problems at all foreign
What do you think about this are you excited to wait online for this place I’m not excited for the line let’s hope it doesn’t take that long but maybe we’re super hungry but by the time we get it tuna or raw fish raw shrimp sushi Good then what about this one what is this this is a eel I’ve never tried eel before fish I might die are you done yeah I I think how many how many one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen Seventeen nineteen
Twenty twenty plates so 40 pieces of sushi we are Sushi love for this that’s a lot of sushi beer a lot of sake and we are ready to go we’re gonna call you tonight I think so today is our last day in Osaka and hopefully we can go see two Castle we’re
Gonna visit first the Osaka Castle which is the most famous castle and the biggest in Japan Walking into a soccer Castle now Well a lot of this Castle was rebuilt in the 30s and it survived World War II so this isn’t the original of soccer Castle See they don’t want your shoes were ruining the hardwood floors old artifacts in here This building actually looks pretty original so these are a bunch of the different seals that families would put on the rocks in which they provided for the base of the castle so you know who did the work or who paid to put the stone there
It’s not a fish it’s a dragon a dragon fish dragon fish we’re calling it a dragon fish some of the original beams from the building this is sort of interesting these are like flutierrez that you see in Europe huh Walking around the castle grounds here it looks like there’s I don’t know some little buildings over here some shops I think this is the main castle entrance right here right but here’s a shrine yeah I guess yeah that’s like a Shinto Shrine gate yeah they have the gates
Yeah you can take pictures you dress up in like Samurai although I look at the somewhere like a very dangerous Warrior Jack me out as a semi Warrior oh there’s one yeah two I don’t know I don’t think there is female samurais but that’s cool there can be now Samurai look at me
So the inner moat of the castle is empty close to the outer moat which is still full of water it just looks like a bunch of Ivy grown in there now so the first place we went to is the fifth floor of the council which is the observation deck really beautiful view
From up here the surrounding Gardens so right here there’s a little boat going around you can take like a little boat ride around the mountain that might be fun to do later and how they used to do more here in Japan I guess yeah so this is a chrysanthemum design
They’re made out of copper and covered in two layers of cold beads and they’re around the roof on the outside of the reconstructed Castle which was rebuilt in 1931. I think the Tiger has done the same way that’s we’re leaving Osaka Castle trying
To get our way out of here it is a large area surrounded by parks we’re just trying to get our way to any Metro or any train station and yeah and there’s some I don’t know rock concert or Festival going on next to us sounds like anime theme music
Going on I do have to say though if you’re not good with stairs or if you have bad knees all over Japan there is stairs no matter where you look you will find stairs yeah
