Not Japanese food, but a drink. Picked up this lime flavored sparkling water from an Asian grocery store in town and noticed it tasted oddly sweet. I checked the nutrition facts and it said 0g total sugar, no added sugar, but the second ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. Is this normal? Why would the inaccurate nutrition facts be allowed?

Sparking water with 75 calories, it’s got some sort of carbo in there. Maybe they’re not considering HFCS as “sugar”. I find it interesting that it’s made in China, until now I didn’t think other countries used HFCS.

Probably just a mistranslation thing. Maybe they don’t consider high fructose corn syrup as “real sugar.”

Btw, although they are licensing the Pokemon brand, Qdol is a Chinese product.

Also stick on labels for imported goods are rather notorious for being inaccurate.
