i visited kyoto a few weeks ago and i gotta say, it's cool but overcrowded and overhyped. a lot of things in kyoto you can find in smaller areas in Kansai or Kyushu.
that old lady was having none of that filming with the japanese girls xD you should make business cards to give to people for your channel and contact info so maybe you can get more content from local japanese women… good talking point to to mention your channel and they can tell their friend or get some publicity on your channel in a future episode
