👋🏼 Hello! Today, Jiji goes to Sakaimachi Street in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan! Since we are in Sapporo for the Sapporo Snow Festival 2024, we decided to go on a day trip to Otaru which also has a festival happening currently (Otaru Snow Light Path Festival or Otaru Yuki Akari no Michi 小樽雪あかりの路). We started our walk from a Japanese confectionery store called Tsukushi Makita. It’s a little bit away from the city center but Jiji wanted to get some Shimaenaga mochi 😸 (She’s obsessed with these cute little Hokkaido birds!) We then headed towards the Otaru Sakaimachi Street and visited some shops and stores such as the Otaru Music Box Museum and LeTAO (famous for their milky smooth desserts and pastries).

As we were walking, it was getting dark and we saw some staff decorating the front of their shop with candles and snow statues to participate in the Otaru Snow Light Path Festival. We ended our walk at the canal but we will show it in another video in more depth~
