This video marks the start of a new chapter in my “Japan Travel Series.” I took my parents to Japan for three weeks! It was their first time visiting Japan (in a very long time!), so they let me take the lead in planning. Upcoming videos will show how we spent those three weeks together traveling across Japan. 🙂

In today’s video, you’ll learn what you need to do when you arrive in Japan. Plus, you’ll see how we spent our first day in Japan and get ideas for things to do in Tokyo. #japantravel #tokyovlog

I hope you enjoy this video!

Welcome to the third part of my Japan travel series my parents haven’t been back to Japan for 30 plus years so taking them on a Japan trip for 3 weeks was a dream in this series you’ll get tips for traveling to Japan and ideas for places to visit we went to some of

My all-time favorite places and some new ones I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting before this first video will cover things to do before and after you arrive in Japan plus you’ll see how we spent our first full day in Tokyo I hope you enjoy now let’s get into today’s

Video hi mmy hi we’re on the way picking you up okay so about 15 minutes yeah okay see bye okay goodbye all right so we are on the way to pick up my mom and Randall right now we being my dad who’s driving my car so yes day Zero R I feel

Kind of ready and kind of not ready at all look who I Found Family Affair heading to the airport are you excited Mom very excited Randall are you excited very excited how excited very I’m excited too alone it’s heading to airport very early but we got premium economy seats so we’re going to go check out the J Lounge at LAX Are you excited very excited Made it to Tokyo we are finally here after an 11 and 1/2 hour flight I believe so right now we’re just stopping to just drop off our stuff and I think we’re just going to eat at the hotel restaurant at the first floor explor but yeah other than that day Zero

We are finally Here hey guys it is 6:00 a.m. I was going to show you last night the stuff that I got at the airport but I knocked out so we went to the Italian restaurant that was connected to our hotel on the first floor and it was so

Good yeah I will leave all the location information down in the description box below I do that for all my videos so if you guys are ever interested in like where I’m actually at just check out the description box of the video and all of that should be there and if it’s not

Just let me know in the comments so right now I’m just going to kind of talk at a high level of like what we did when we landed at the airport I’ll cover it at a high level here and if you have any questions I do have a blog post that

Talks about things you need to book in advance before you head to Japan and I also have a Japan travel checklist freebie that you can download so I’ll leave a link to all of my helpful blogs for Japan travel down in the description box below so you can check that out if

You want more information so I think the first thing I want to say is that before you board your plane just make sure you have hotel or wherever you’re staying in Japan make sure you have the address and phone number for that location because when you go through immigration you’re

Going to need that information when you fill out the form make sure you have the address of the place you’re staying and the phone number of the place you’re staying handy for paperwork that you’re going to need to do um and then once we got through immigrations Customs we then

Went over to baggage claim so after we picked up our bag we went out to the arrival area for terminal 3 which is the international terminal at haetta airp airport so once you’re out there you’ll start to see like there’s a lot of tourist information desks different

Places where you can pick up SIM cards portable Wi-Fi I always recommend that you book your portable Wi-Fi ahead of arriving to Japan it’s just so much easier I actually when I picked up my portable Wi-Fi had to go in this line but when the guy saw that I had already

Ordered my Wi-Fi he pulled me aside and just immediately took care of everything I needed and I was out of there before everyone in line so again try to do as much as you can before you leave for the trip because it’ll just be so much

Easier when you can do it in the comfort of your own home versus having to take the time the minute you land from like a very very long flight the portable Wi-Fi that I got for this trip is actually from Sakura mobile there’s like ninja there’s Japan Wireless I’ve used

Multiple different companies but yeah Saka mobile is the one I’m going with this time this is basically what’s going to keep my phone and my laptop connected where wherever I go I just love Shing that with me cuz even though I have like an international plan on my cell data

Plan it just like for some reason for me and I don’t know if you guys also have this experience but it just is so much slower the connection so just to be safe especially because I am a content creator and I’m always like filming

Stuff on the go I just want to make sure I’m always connected no matter where I am so it’s just peace of mind to get a portable Wi-Fi or you can also get a SIM card and then okay so Customs immigration baggage claim picked up our portable Wi-Fi and then actually right

Next to where we picked up the portable Wi-Fi was Yamato transports little kiosk popup area the M transport is basically the service you’re going to use if you ever want to transport your luggage from location to location so for my family on this trip we are actually in Tokyo for a

Day and then the next day tomorrow we’re actually heading over to Osaka and the one thing about if you’re sending luggage like from Tokyo to Osaka or Kyoto or anything a little farther away it does take a couple of days so what we did is we packed enough for a couple of

Nights into our carry-on luggage and then in our check-in bags was all the stuff that we were just going to forward along to the next hotel we went to Yamato Transport there was someone who was up there who spoke English I showed him the Japanese address to our Osaka

Hotel and he helped fill out all the information there and again you’ll also need the phone number for your next hotel along with the address cuz that’s what they’re going to use to fill out the form and if you’re worried about filling out the forms or anything like

That um especially at the airport there are people who can help you who speak English who are able to help you fill out the form quick recap after we got our luggage portable Wi-Fi we shipped our luggage and then after that we did something actually new on the SHP that

I’ve never done before I’m sure you guys have heard if you’ve been researching SE ing Japan travel that at the time of me filming this fall 2023 they actually stopped producing the physical cards for sua cards it’s basically a card that you’ll use to kind of like tap into the

Different public transportation systems I kind of stopped using the physical cards a year ago because you can actually just upload it to your phone and then I just like keep refilling my card with Apple pay so that’s really convenient but I don’t know I kind of

When I heard that they were going to stop issuing the physical cards I kind of felt sad because having the card is just a nice souvenir to take home I actually found out that pasmo has this thing called pasmo passport that they only issue to tourus and the card only

Lasts for 4 weeks so it does have its limitations in that way where it’s like if you’re going to stay here for longer then all of a sudden you can’t use it anymore but it is so cute and it is so convenient like even though I have the

Sua card on my phone my parents parents don’t and my mom and Randall are actually more comfortable having the physical cards so I figured you know maybe this is just the easier route for them and so even though I have the sua card on my phone I decided that I was

Also going to get a pasmo passport because look at how cute this is talk about a cute souvenir to take home after a trip is just to have this like how iconic picked up one of these it was, 1500 Yen you had to pay cash only and

They actually waved the card fee which is typically 500 yen so basically when we handed them the 1500 Yen this came loaded with 1500 Yen so yeah those are the main things that we did the minute we got to the airport again I will leave

A full list of things that you should do before you even get on the plane to Japan I’ll leave a link to that blog post down in the description box because I go into a little bit more detail about things you need to do and then I also

Have a free downloadable checklist that will help help you kind of keep track of all the things that I mentioned in that blog post so definitely go check that out if you want more information and again if you have even more questions let me know in the comments down below

And maybe I’ll either do a part two to this video or I’ll try to get back to as quickly as I can by responding to your comment the plan for today is we actually got breakfast with our hotel stay so I’m meeting up with my parents

At 8:00 a.m. to eat breakfast I’m really excited because guy last night said that the breakfast is actually Japanese breakfast which means there’s going to be Nat and there’s going to be like all the Japanese style breakfast options I miss Japan so much I’m going to do some

Work in the hotel right now and then I will take you with me when we head down to breakfast okay wait I don’t know why this wasn’t the first thing I mentioned but I made a book so if you guys have been following my channel for a while

You know that I love collecting eeky stamps whenever I’m traveling in Japan and if you haven’t and you don’t know what eeky stamps are they’re basically stamps you can get at train stations or temples or any main attractions they tend to have their own stamps but basically they are created specifically

To give you a gist of what that area or what that attraction is like most known for so it’s like a really fun way to just have a souvenir and have a way to remember all the places that you visited or at least most of them when you can

Find the stamps cuz yeah stamp collecting is just one of my favorite things to do in Japan because I just love seeing all the details that they add in for each location anyways I made my own stamp book that will be on sale on my website at Lifestyle by remy.com

And it looks like this it’s a pocket size book that easy to carry around it’s like very thin there’s 50 pages in here and then the first few pages who the book belongs to I also have Japan travel phrases in here for instance I have you know how to ask

Where the train station stamp is hello good morning please excuse me no thank you do you speak English these are the ones I just use all the time when I’m in Japan and for those of you who don’t know I am not fluid in Japanese yet

These are the phrases that me as a non-japanese speaker use a lot when I’m traveling to Japan so I just thought that this would be helpful like little nice add-on addition to your stamp book I’ll show you guys throughout my series moving forward how I use this stamp book

All the time if you guys like it it’ll be available on my website I do want to give you a heads up that I am not a big company I am not an Amazon so shipping Isn’t So immediate so if you do want to get this book make sure you are ordering

It in advance if you guys are using it make sure you take photos and tag me on Instagram so yeah it is here and I am so excited for you guys to start using it collecting your own collection And the first day in Japan is always mind-boggling it’s a lot of wo that’s cool and random detours and stops absorbing new surroundings and the thriving culture you’ve now stepped into I was really looking forward to taking my parents to our first destination not because it’s one of the largest

Starbucks in Japan but rather because it was a first for all of us out of all the times I’ve been to Tokyo I never had the chance to go to the place I always saw on my social feeds back home the Reserve Roastery in Nako boasts an impressively designed building with four floors

Dedicated to a specific drink and experience the first floor for example is a Starbucks Reserve where you can taste specialty roasts and coffee drinks the second floor is Tana and tea drinks the third has some of the reserved drinks a cold brew bar coffee cocktails

And a Terrace View and the fourth has a nice Terrace lounge with more seating D Yeah So right now we are at the Starbucks reserve and this place is four stories tall so one tip I have is that if you see something you want on one level order it on that level because you can only get certain items on certain floors but right now I got the dark chocolate

Dark hot chocolate mocha so cheers and it comes in a cute mug too cheers delicious mixtur of martinis are very good I know you can get an espresso tonic and there’s Double Espresso tonic and like a bunch of different like Bears cocktails it just everything looks so Good I made sure to keep my parents interests in mind as I plan this Japan trip my mom and Randall are the type that are good with seeing a temple or two but would prefer to experi experience the Japanese culture in other ways I.E museums shopping sake tastings

Etc so while you’ll see a few temples on this trip I recommend checking out my other Japan travel series videos for those Experiences Our last stop of the day was to a museum in Tokyo Midtown that was created by one of my mom’s favorite fashion designers eay miak the museum is constantly rotating in different exhibits throughout the entire year so I encourage you to check out their website before your visit to see what’s showing

And to make sure the mum museum is open on your desired date we ate an early dinner our first night and ate at one of my go-to miso fish restaurants in Tokyo here Here ooh this is good this is Good in the next videos you’ll come with us to the kai region of Japan and first we’re stopping in olaka until next Time
