The only difference between JDM models J (joyful) and L (liberty) is the distribution network. It’s not a “trim level” or some such, nothing about the cars themselves all same options available for both. There are four separate Toyota dealership networks in Japan, or at least there were until 2020, when they were consolidated. But that’s another story…

The V, by the way, means roman numeral five, for the five-door version.
