Hi there, Today I am at Kobe Meriken Park, one of the 3 locations for the Kobe Luminarie. It’s the first time Kobe Luminarie has been held for 3 years. It is usually held in December, but this year it is being held in January.
This year, for the first time, the location is Meriken Park. You have to pay a fee to enter. After the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, this event was created to pray for the souls and the recovery of the city. It was also used to encorage tourists to return to Kobe.
The event is running until 28th January and is open from 5:30pm to 9pm everyday.
