So you have already planned a trip to Japan which is famous for cherry blossom and Autumn Leaves then let me tell you that you have not made any mistake this is going to be the best trip of your life trust us from our experience most likely you have already applied for
Japan visa and you have got your Japan Visa as well if you have not yet done so do check out a video that we have created where we have given you step by step how to apply for Japan visa and also some handy tips how to get your
Multi-entry 5 years Visa yes we are eles got 5year tourist visa for Japan and we are definitely planning once again to visit there now once you have started planning for your Japan trip the first obvious question comes into your mind is that what is going to be immigration
Process what are the questions that they are going to ask and in on what basis they can also deny your entry into the country so that is the first one the second one is to how to get yourself connected to the network because Japan trust us you would need an active data
Connection so how to figure out sim cards because if you take your phone on roaming it is going to charge you a bomb so we will tell you also how to get your sim card at a very reduced cost the third thing that we are going to cover
Is how to get Japan Yen once you are in Japan because even though Japan is Advanced and it has like all Cool Tech stuff it still is a cash Rich economy and you would need those Japanese Yen if you want to like do shopping or like in general so expenses the fourth thing
That we are going to cover is how to figure out the Metro scene there the transportation The Local transportation because Tokyo is a very big city and it’s it has a complete web of Metro so it’s very easy for you to like get overwhelmed and try to figure out like
From A to B how do you get very quickly and very efficiently so we’ll cover all of these things along with some handy tips on the way so stay tuned for the video till the end and if you have not yet subscribed subbe to our channel do
Subscribe it because we create a lot of such informative videos so first let’s talk about Japan immigration in most likelihood you’re going to land in one of the Tokyo’s airport yes Tokyo has two airports one is haneda airport and the other one is Narita Airport Narita is a
Very big airport but it is outside or you can say a bit far from Tokyo City however Hana is much closer to Tokyo City and depending on what flight you take you will land on in one of these two airports we took the flight from Delhi to Tokyo via Ana airlines that
Landed in Hana airport now one interesting thing here is that from Delhi to Tokyo it took us 6.5 hours it was a direct flight however while returning on the same route it took us about 8 to 9 hours on the same flight so if you know the reason about it do write
It into the comment because we would love to know why this is so anyway whether you land and in Hana airport or Narita Airport the immigration process is going to be the same here is a handy tip that will make your immigration process a lot smoother and faster is
That you pre-register your arrival with visit Japan web where they’re going to give you a online form which is same as arrival form that usually you fill either in the plane or when you deboard the plane so this you can prefill and what will happen is that you will also
Get a QR code that you can take a screenshot of or download it offline for your immigration purpose now again there will be another QR code that you can generate which is the custom form you fill the custom form that you’re not carrying any illegal material or any
Product that uh is prohibited in Japan you just checkbox like no to everything and you will get a QR code just just keep these two QR codes handy because this is going to make your life lot easy at the immigration process now once you land there you do both the plane the
First thing first cue that you get into is where your face basically a photograph is taken along with your biometric that you need to register there and once you done with that like there will be staff will very courteous and they’ll help you out with capturing all of these biometric information then
From there you move into another Cube which is actually the immigration line where once you enter you will have to show the QR code that you generated and worry not if you let’s see if you have all not yet got chance or you forgot to create this QR code you can very well
Fill the Immigration Form over there itself and then hand it to the immigration officer since we had already got our QR code we just scanned the QR code at the terminal that uh it was there and uh they did not ask any question like when is a return what is
The purpose of travel Etc all of those things they just stamped our passport and uh they happily U let us in post immigration which was like very smooth for us what we did was we went ahead to collect our bags now here one catch is that that uh at the baggage claim area
You would find uh the staff who would want you to not carry certain items into the country for example from the airline itself we were served late breakfast and we were not in the mood of like having that breakfast at that point of time so
What we did was we took the sandwich and put it in our bag so that you know we can eat it later however when we landed there they said that you know the breads or sandwich Etc are not allowed into the country because it is the origination of
This sandwich was from some other country so uh we like deposited it to them and then uh we took our bags and then went through the custom process now custom process again is the same thing if you have a QR code already generated on your uh phone just show it to them
Scan it there and you are good to go if you do not have that QR code if you did not get a time time to create one you can fill the form over there and then scan it and then you can go you have already now officially entered Tokyo by
Completing the immigration and custom process congratulations to you but the first thing is that how to inform your loved ones that you have arrived in Tokyo or be connected uh because you would need this connection for your Google Maps your Google Translate and to figure out uh like certain bookings that
You would want to do on the go Etc all of those things right so you need you would need active data connection even though like Tokyo major places you would find free Wi-Fi but we would highly recommend that you get a SIM card for yourself because it’s it’s really handy
And uh it’s it’s pretty cheap also so the moment you come out of the airport you will find that there will be mobile carriers over there different company will have like their own shops you can go ahead and inquire over there that what kind of you know plans that they
Have Etc all of those things the tip is that avoid these kiosk but find out if uh you know there is a shop called big camera this is uh nothing but a large chain in Japan itself of electronics that sells item right from let’s say camera to laptops to everything else
Electronics so there you would find a lot of different companies uh SIM cards and it’ll range from like 1 GB to 10 GB and it is Valu for let’s say 1 week to 30 days and furthermore it will also have different options like whether you need only data connection or you need
Data plus Call Etc all of those things so choose as per your need so do check it out if you find a big camera go there purchase it from there it’s hasslefree you need not even pay in Japanese Yen you can use your credit card we used our
Travel card to pay over there and it had like a zero Forex markup so it was a win-win for us now SIM card sorted you are connected the next thing to figure out is to how to get your Japanese Yen now there are two options one is that if
You’re carrying a USD then you can go to one of these uh like exchange counters at the airport and get your currency converted but we would advise against it because they are not going to give you best rate it’s it’s going to be very very poor rate you’re are better off
Exchanging it in the city itself at the city center like akara sjuku or Shibuya for that matter so all of these places will have money exchange places you can go and convert it there I would recommend that don’t convert at the airport cell the second thing what we
Did was that we used our travel card to withdraw cash from the airport now a lot of banks it might happen that some of the ATMs Bank ATMs will not work for you just try to you know like insert in couple of ATM machines over there and
See which one works which does not for us the moment we came out there were two three ATMs none of them worked so we thought okay let’s check it we’ll go to to the Tokyo City and uh you know withdraw from their Orin B we’ll exchange our dollars that we were
Carrying so next what we have to figure out is that from the Tokyo Airport which is either H airport or Narita Airport how do you get to the city center or to your hotel all these airports are very well connected either via the rail the Metro Network or via buses as well
However we will recommend that you go via Metro because it’s super convenient and uh it runs very frequently and it’s pretty reasonable also in terms of fair but before boarding the Metro first what we we would recommend that you get a smart card IC card which is called
Welcome Suka card this you get from the airport itself and you do not get it from anywhere else so let’s say if you miss to take this card from the airport you’re not going to get this card from uh the Metro stations what you’re going
To uh instead get is a regular pasmo or Suka card which will will have like certain U money deposited onto the card it is the same as what we have here in India which is like Delhi metro card or Bangalore metro card where you top up your card it has like certain refundable
Amount on the card and you top it up and then whenever you are boarding a Metro or bus or any other place you just need to tap it and it’ll DCT the money from uh your card however one more Advantage here with this card is that this card is
Accepted at a lot of places other than the transportation system it is also accepted at the convenient stores like 711 you can also at times make restaurant purchases or like some shopping purchases on this card so it’s pretty convenient because you need not carry change or currency all the time
You just top it up as per your need and then that’s it and and at the end of the trip this also works as a souvenir for you so obviously go ahead purchase this card and uh you will find uh these cards vending machine the moment you come out
Of the custom immigration custom and immigration process you will find and this will be near the kiosk where from where you are going to get your Metro so just look for the sign of metros and just before entering into the Metro you will find these machines and there you
Will find one of the machine will have the welcome Suka card machine now this machine accepts both card as well as cash just next to the SU card machine we also saw another ATM which was of 7-Eleven Bank yes 711 is a super chain store in uh Japan and also in Southeast
Asia it also has Bank ATMs so we thought of let’s try here also one time and uh we tried our luck there and it worked and uh we withdraw some money for our next couple of days expenses with that money we purchased our welcome Suka card
And we topped it up with some 2,000 year which is equivalent to 1,000 rupes in in India so yes 2 yen is equivalent to 1 rupee in India however like the cost wise Japan in general is a bit costly compared to India so once the Suka card
Was sorted what we did was we just uh went into the Metro System we took the metro and we arrived at our uh hotel which so now with immigration process SIM card money and Metro worries put to the rest now you are in a position to enjoy your vacation in Japan to the
Fullest another handy tip here is that do download couple of apps one is your Google Map help you to plan your trip from A to B so for example let’s say if you’re staying in the Tokyo area and you want to go to sjuku station then what is
The best way to go there and it will also tell you which line you have to take which metro line because Tokyo Metro is very confusing it has a lot of lines it has a lot of uh uh intersections so you will have to navigate through all of those things and
Google Map really comes in handy at times you would but also get lost but look up and you will find sence which is also written in English not only in Japanese so you will be able to figure out the way if at all you’re not able to
Figure out a way out of the Metro ask any of the helpful staff they will go like uh miles for you to help you out to you know like uh get your problem solved so don’t uh hesitate to seek out for any help out there even for the not only the
Staff but in general public also is very helpful there that uh we we realize the second app that you should definitely download is the Google translate uh why it is important uh because in general at all the places you would find English uh language science but let’s say this uh
Translation app comes very handy when you are let’s say in a restaurant where uh menu is in let’s say Japanese like not all the restaurants will have uh Japanese uh English sorry English translated menu so what you can do is like from the translation app you can
Already get it translated and at times it also helps you to communicate with the locals who might not be very efficient and fluent in English and uh this will really come handy in that case the third thing if you’re a vegetarian and if you’re looking for a vegetarian
Food Indian um like food is available there there are a lot of restaurants but let’s say if you’re not in a m mood of having Indian but uh let’s say uh the vegetarian version of Japanese food yes Japanese food also has like a lot of vegetarian options like uh my wife KB
She’s a vegetarian and I’m nonvegetarian so a lot of time we would try to figure out uh you know Japanese food that had like a vegetarian option so this app called Happy Cow uh this you can download it will come in handy uh where you can search for vegetarian uh
Restaurants in the area that you are standing and it’ll give you the directions and all of the reviews Etc along with the menu so yes these are the three important um apps that you should definitely download so that’s it guys hope you liked our video and in next video what we’re going
