from our GUESTHOUSE COTTARO we walk 3 minutes to Kayanuma station to observe the White Japanese Cranes and at the nearby train ❌ crossing get some nice shots of the SL TRAIN 🚂 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE passing by!
The black and white steam looks so beautiful in the white landscape! It passes by only once a day coming from Kushiro Station around 12pm and on the way back to there around 2pm. but it is more beautiful like we shot in the video because when it comes back, the locomotive faces backwards.

All seats on the SL Winter Wetland are reserved seats. Please purchase a ticket at a Midori-no-Madoguchi counter or Ekinet before boarding. The counters and automatic ticket machines will be very crowded before the departure of the SL, so please arrive with plenty of time to spare.
Reservations can also be made using Ekinet’s ticketless reserved seat tickets.

In winter in Eastern Hokkaido , you can experience various attractions in each area along the line , centered around the SL Winter Wetland Train.
The interior of the recently renovated train retains a retro feel while still feeling luxurious, and the conductor’s uniform has a different retro look than usual.
Car No. 2 sells original goods and special products from the area. We recommend the SL pudding and SL original blend coffee, which are only sold in the train!
Every detail, including the loading platform and lighting, is decorated with unique Hokkaido decorations.
Kayanuma Station is a station visited by red-crowned cranes.
You can watch the red-crowned cranes relaxing from the train window.
