Lead up in going to saporo is also the hottest week generally in Australia so as the weather gets hotter today it is extraordinarily hot all I think of in the back of my head is oh my God it’s going to be nice and cool in tomorrow
Which it will be um I like I really don’t know what to tell you about it we’ve been going on about Soro for a long period of time on this channel but I noticed that we’ve had a bunch of new people subscribe over the past last 48
Hours so thank you to those people and maybe this is the first time you’ve ever heard or seen anything about saor we’re going to show you uh the snow Festival from 2020 today um which I don’t mind doing because every year see the snow Festival changes it’s not the same it’s
Like every year it’s something completely different so what you’re about to see today you will never see again except if you watch this video um Russell keeps messaging me asking me if I don’t want to go he’ll be more than happy to have my plane ticket
Russell Russell look I know you work I know you have commitments in life but you can still buy a ticket and go to the seoro snow Festival I’m not quite sure about accommodation I think there could be a little bit accommodation left not too much but uh you know why not he says
Why not have you got any sick leave up your sleeve yes excellent most people have sick leave up their sleeve just jump on a plane uh now before we get into the saporo snow Festival of 2020 and show you what it was like in the illuminations just want to let you all

Two videos I put them together this is of the saporo snow Festival of 2020 um I really just started doing YouTube back then I have about as many viewers as I did back then now sad really isn’t it but anyway um it is what it is enjoy it uh we have a
Quick little look around and I kind of explain what’s going on and then at the end of the video you’re going to see the light mapping the lights illuminations oh my God they’re spectacular now warning what you see on the camera is like you can’t capture it you know to
What it is in real life it literally just can’t capture it so this is literally only a little taster until you see these fulls size buildings or sculptures that are four five six stories high you really really really as I say no camera can can capture it

Event this is adori Park in saporo it’s one of three main sites where the snow Festival is held and for this particular video I’m only going to be concentrating on adori Park but keep an eye out on the channel because in upcoming videos I will show you the other sites as well
Now if you do watch a video and you like what you see the saporo snow Festival is held annually in saporo and it’s held over 7 days in February now the hotels do book out really early so make sure you get on the internet nice and early
And book your trip for hopefully next February for the 72nd seoro snow Festival so the festival is in its 71st year and it attracts now about 2 million visitors from around the globe and they come here to see the hundreds and yeah I mean hundreds of snow statues that are
Scattered all throughout adori Park [Applause] [Applause] now they’ve also got an international snow sculpture cont test try to say that it’s so difficult that has been held at the adori park site since 1974 14 teams from around the world participate in the contest and of course there’s big cash prizes to be won in the
Video at the moment you can see them putting a couple of these sculpures together ready for the contest so I did tell you that there were hundreds of statues and sculptures down here how many I hear you ask there is 400 100 plus down here so of course I
Can’t show you them all I can only give you a little taster of them and the amazing thing about them is you can come and look at them during the day and then when you come back at night and they’re all lit up it’s completely different so it’s like two shows in
One can you believe the snow Festival began as a one-day event in 1950 when six local high school students built six statues right here in the adori park site in 1955 the Japanese self-defense forces joined in and built the first massive snow sculpture which snow Festival of course is very famous for
Now well that’s enough of me talking you’ve had a little glimpse of what it looks like during the day now it’s time to show you what it looks like at night here’s a couple of like displays that happen throughout the festival there are more as I say I can’t put them all on
The video but do keep your eye out on the channel there will be more videos of the seoro snow Festival coming Up Ohe spech Right For For E Oh Boy National Museum and park will be open every 24 each Fore EX What Foree for Fore fore ISE For J Yeah [Applause] N Spe [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] so there you go that was uh 2020 uh I remember for that particular one uh cuz I I was there of course um just before I left cuz I was still in Perth at the time and my mom said to me oh you you really don’t want to be going
On your trip uh there’s this flu thing going around and it’s going to be really bad and I said oh Mom get off it and she said no no no they’re they’re going to close the world down that’s don’t be stupid why would they close the world
Down anyway um like literally I got back to Australia and within 24 hours if that 12 hours 24 hours uh we were locked down and uh we all know what happened during the lockdown phase uh the seoro snow Festival went to a online Festival
So it was still held uh in a much much much smaller scale and uh and they did it online so no visitors there but you could watch it online then in 2023 that little baby happened and that wasn’t the fulls size Festival that was I would say
Half size if not a little bit smaller than half size so 2024 is going to be the first year since 2020 that the festival is going to be full size again so um it’s going to be amazing to see even when it was only half size it was
Really quite amazing and uh if you weren’t on the channel then this is why you missed out on it because we knew during the lockdown we knew in 2022 that the 2023 saboro snow Festival was going to go ahead and Japan was going to open for tourists so while
Everybody else was reporting Japan’s still closed we don’t know where when it’s going to open we reported that that was going to go ahead and Japan was going to open for tourists so yeah um I think three of us from the channel knew this uh the
Information and uh so three of us ended up going to Japan but uh yeah we got the information really early because I contacted the city council and I said 2023 snow Festival is it going ahead yes are there going to be tourists there yes and I said but we’re locked down at the
Moment and no one could get into Japan and they said no no no Kida and the government and yada yada y have said that it’s going ahead and so so we knew we knew this is why you need to be on this particular channel uh mom knows
Best yeah like I I just couldn’t believe it you know none of us did I suppose as younger generation who’s now getting old uh you know we’ve never experienced anything like this and uh you know yeah now we do um yeah interesting times it was very interesting times but um I do
Hope you enjoyed seeing the saporo snow Festival of 2020 as mentioned there’s there’s other sites there as well there’s the Ice Festival and all sorts of stuff going on just it it does absolutely amaze me that what you see in these videos these light mappings these ginormous sculptures it’s
Free this is what I can’t get over if they well for a start they would never run anything on that particular scale in Australia ever um and uh you know if they did it would cost you you know 50 60 100 bucks whatever to get in and see
These things I mean it would be so so so ridiculously expensive um the unco Museum from Japan is coming to Melbourne at the moment and it’s going to be a cut down version of it and you know they’re charging a small fortune to get into it
Here so it’s it’s just quite amazing how cheap Japan is if you’ve never been there as always good to see your work that’s what she said anyway um not many people here we got Russell here Russell only and somebody else had messaged a really cryptic message that we don’t understand uh what could
FH stand for and CIP FH um uh you think you could say that about fresh jalapenos maybe and I’ve got no idea no idea no idea what that’s all about he says but you get that um before we go uh I will play you the thing about Christmas in
