Thanks to a rule change last year, anyone with a valid ID over 16 years old can ride E-Scooters to cruise around Tokyo!
E scooter and ebike share has made its way to Japan it’s a fun way to get around while avoiding Tokyo’s Infamous crowded trains but did you know that up until recently you needed a Japanese driver’s license to use one you still need to be 16 or older but in July of
2023 Japan finally regulated the scooters under tooa which puts E Scooters with a max speed of 20 km per hour into the same league as bicycles and pedestrians with no driver’s license necessary it still needs a license plate for some reason but now even tourists are able to ride
As for helmets the rules state that you must make your best effort to wear one
