This fall, our small group embarked on a creative journey at Atelier Ricca’s Yubinuki workshop in Kyoto, Japan. What seemed like a simple thimble revealed itself as a fascinating and intricate art form.
Under the patient guidance of Ricca-san (her real name is Nozomi-san though), the atelier’s owner and our delightful instructor, we dove into the world of Yubinuki. Despite the initial challenges, her warm demeanor and clear instructions made the process not just enjoyable but surprisingly achievable for a group of first-time learners, even without a strong grasp of Japanese.
Each piece tells a unique story of our time spent together, navigating the delicate details of Yubinuki. A memory etched in stitches and smiles.
