Hey everyone I’m Japanese local tour guide in this video I’m going to share some places that are I think a little bit overrated in Tokyo so stay tuned for advice and tips where you visiting those areas okay let’s go let’s start off the Sky Tree first Tokyo Sky Tree is a
Television broadcasting Tower and I told to in Japan this place is very popular both Japanese and foreigners which means to get up to the top it takes a while you can buy the ticket for the Sky Tree on the day of your visit but it takes
About 30 minutes to 1 hour and when it’s crowded you might have to wait for up to 2 hours before you can get up to the observation deck in my case even though I went on Monday I arrived at 11:00 a.m. waited in line for 15 minutes to buy a
Ticket and managed to get the ticket for entry starting at 12:30 I went on a week week dates since it’s less busy compared to weekends and also ticket price is a little bit cheaper than the weekends there are two observation decks the lower one is 350 M high and it cost
2,00 Yen while the higher one is 450 M high and it cost it 3,00 Yen if you purchase the ticket for the higher one you can access both observation decks I know you don’t want to wait it that long so here’s Japanese tip fire but currently you can purchase ticket online
So I recommend making a reservation in advance you can even purchase ticket online on the day of your visit without a waiting in line so you can save in your time if you have to wait for a bed check out the restaurant area where you can
Enjoy Japanese food I went on the less crowded on Monday so I didn’t have to to wait but be prepared for the long lines of weekends as it gets you know really busy around here and I hear I got a pra Ramen originally from Hokkaido there are
Three different type of soup here a soy sauce and a miso and a salt I recommend you to get the Sal one it’s finally your time slot you can enter and start lining out go up to the observation deck so I’m finally here in the sky tree
And it took me around 1 hour and a half lineup to purchase the ticket and come up here us are good but it wasn’t the perfect weather even the sunny day it was a bit foggy all day well vew was good and sometime you will see M fui
From up there but I’m not sure if it works to wait about 1 hour and spend a 3,00 about like $20 us I feel like there are some uh other buildings which which are free less busy and less touristy so I will show you I will show you one of them Okay Tokyo Metropolitan government building offering a very high and you get to see free view of the city this place is about 10 minutes away from shinik station and like I said free and no lines I recommend you to go there instead of going to Sky Tree and saving
Like 3,00 Yen so you can get some fancy local food in here in Tokyo so next one is Harajuku taka Street Harajuku taka street is a famous shopping street uh this place is supposed to be a center of teenager culture and a fashion style also known for delicious snack including
Cpes and ice cream and some unique snacks however some vegors find it too cowed and overrated the street has become more more popular tourist destination losing in some of the its original term but um right next to the Pista Street go through a n path you will find
Yourself in a quiet and beautiful place this place is Togo Shrine known for safety and a business Prosperity this Shrine offers Hello Kitty charms and stamps and not like you can get from other shrines the other side of the street there is also Nar Ali too so
Where you can avoid a crowd to go through the uh Street if you cross the road and keep going straight even though like pakista Street ends this is where you will see cool sneakers and a second hand and a vintage store Harajuku is not all about the pop culture so why not also exploring the traditional and the nature of
Japan at the made Shrine which is the one of the biggest Shrine in Japan it is surrounded by lar forest and you can walk through the Nature if you ref feeling tired from walking I recommend taking a break at yoyogi Park which is in yaai there are some componist stories and you can even buy some alcohol there especially in Japan it’s nice because you can drink outside and so chilling in
The park and with a drink is a great idea next one is kabukicho kabukicho is the biggest red light district and where you can find a lots of restaurant and R birs some places open 24/7 so you can enjoy all night long I’ve got asked many times where is
A robot restaurant but uh Sly Robot Restaurant in kabuko is gone during coover the last one is golden gu this this is a very popular place for foreigners to trip to Japan since it’s atmosphere and over 280 small birds you can Ure Japanese nightl here but some
For find two tourist te and crowded and the things you have to know is Cur and only cash is accepted so usually in Japan we have cover CH from 300 Yen to 500 yen but this area in the golden like cover Church could be around a th Y and
Us usually bar are not accept cars so you should bring a cash with it like I mentioned um usually bar has cover chch but you can find a bar which has no cure in Golden guy to find out those place you should check check out of the door
Usually no cover church are stated on the door I will share my favorite bird in this area this place is no C church and the stuff speaks very good English then also many locals come here so you you might able to talk with local next one is ail also this place
Has no C chur and speaks very good English as well so here you can enter some homemade cherry B some whiskey Wasabi V and wasabi tequila basically this video was not discriminated against any of places mentioned or saying you should not go but I just give you a heads up of what
You could expect and how to make a Japan trip goes more SM I work for a company called Muska trip that provides guided tour of different area in Japan with local person who live there so if you go to our website you can look through all the tour we offer you can also learn about the guy

damn i did the whole harajuku loop almost exactly the same lol the one u said back on Jan 1st 2023 without really having a plan in mind.
i was in japan a month ago and gotta say, this 3 suggestions are HUGE, specially skipping the skytree observation deck, too expensive for what it is considering there's cheaper (and sometimes free) alternatives. Excellent video and greetings from Mexico
I will be going to Tokyo next month, thanks for the tips!
I could have use your services a month ago. I got lost a lot. haha
Hello I didn't quite catch the last izakaya what is the name of the place? Also very good video!
Went to Japan 3 weeks ago and passed by all 3 of these place:
Skytree I walked by but it was too early and they were not open so I didnt go.
Takeshita street I didnt even bother checking out due to the large number of people in it (i was in Meji Jingu).
Golden Gai was full of Nigerians harassing foreigners, I walked around, and left quickly. Walked about 4 blocks to a Batting Center and spent around an hour and a half there. Really fun.
Thank you for your advice pal. I'm planning my 6th trip to Japan, and want to try new thigns and avoid the ones that won't bring any good memories.
Golden Gai a rip off compared to other bars
Kawaii
For Osaka, Dotonbori is overrated and overcrowded. After 6pm on a weekend, you can barely walk through there. Food is not that great or special compared to anywhere else in Japan. Unless you need to see the Glico man sign, avoid it.
For Kyoto, it's Nishiki Market. There's thousands of people packed into that narrow back alley all day long.
Recently subscribed to your channel. Great helpful information. Also we are arriving in Tokyo on December 22 to 29. Planning to visit places like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Asakusa, Akihabara, Setagaya, Chiyoda, Chuo, Ikebukuro/Toshima, Minato, Setagaya and Sumida.
1. How much should I put approximately in the Suica IC Card for 7 days visiting these various places
2. Are there places in these areas where I can exchange dollars to Yen, if needed
3. Is the Keikyu Airport Line crowded at around 5PM on December 22, what time is rush hours
Thank you for your help and any advise that you can provide will be appreciated.
I loved Tokyo Skytree, just bought my ticket in advance and went right up. I was there first thing in the morning on a Monday. Harajuku would have been a total waste if it wasn't for Meiji temple, way too crowded, too many touts and it seemed like a tourist trap. I wasn't super impressed with Shinjuku at night either. Touts everywhere and it felt like I was going to get scammed.
Good video!
Omoide Yokocho by Shinjuku station is overpriced. The food portion is small with high price. Plus the cover charge cost. I’m betting it is the same for all of the other old villages with bars in Tokyo.
Great video. Thank you for sharing 🥰🥰
I've been going to Japan twice a year for 10 years. In my experience, the types of tourists who get scammed or trapped are usually the (rich?) backpackers who avoid normal commercial places like the plague and would ABSOLUTELY do anything in their power to find these hole-in-the-wall, hidden, no-one-knows-about places.
Once, inside a 7-11, I overheard two American (yes, I could tell from their accents) backpackers talking to each other about getting scammed in this obscure cafe located in the woods of some mountain. However, they sneered at the convenience store's food, saying none of them were appealing to eat because they are so mundane and "basic bitch food". So they bought a plain loaf of bread and shared it as they used their phones to look for "unique, quirky" places to eat. I think that was the most bizarre tourist thing I've ever seen.
I think the stubborn pursuit of hole-in-the-wall places is equally dangerous as these "commercial tourist traps".
Good stuff, mate. I took some notes as I'm visiting Japan soonish! Subscribed.
I like Shibuya Sky a lot better for the views.
This was helpful, thanks!

New subscriber here! I love how you speak! You videos are very informative especially to us who wants to visit Tokyo! Thank you so much! Please continue to create more videos about your country. 😃
The Tokyo Skytree is spectacular. Best view in the city by far. But yes, I totally recommend going early on a weekday, because it gets VERY crowded.
Takeshita Street in Harajuku is totally skippable. But the Meiji Shrine across the street is beautiful, so it's worth it if you want to browse souvenirs for 20 minutes.
Golden Gai in Kabukicho is impressive to walk through, but all the Nigerian touts harassing tourists to try to get them into their scam clubs gets really tiring after about 10 minutes.
The police really should start cracking down on those a**holes. They really ruin the experience.
