A 2-day, 1-night trip to Arima Onsen in Kobe, a trip to see the classic sightseeing spots in Kobe. JR Sannomiya Station. Today I went to Kobe for sightseeing. I am coming to JR Sannomiya Station. I used to live in Kobe. I’m so local that I’ve never been to any tourist spots.

This is the first time for us to tour all the sightseeing spots together. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Kobe, so it feels fresh (^^). First of all, I’m going to eat breakfast. A lot has changed around here, too. This time I used the KOBE Tourism Smart Passport.

We will be visiting Kobe and Arima Onsen. This time we will use Premium 2DAY. The number of facilities available for Premium and Basic is different. When I saw this, not the project, I thought I wanted to go to Kobe for the first time in a while (^^).

Now you can go to places you were not sure about before without any hesitation (^^). It’s a morning place. After all, when you think of Kobe, you think of Nishimura Coffee. Go to the founding head office. I’m going to go there from Kitanozaka.

The store is about 8 minutes walk from JR Sannomiya Station. Almost there! . The wood-framed style of the northern German style is wonderful. It opened in 1948. This building was renovated and reopened in May 2006. arrival.

Kobe Nishimura Coffee Store Nakayamate Main Store About 8 minutes walk from JR Sannomiya Station Business hours 8:30-23:00 Closed on the last Monday of every month. The name plate has a retro feel (^^). That is! . There was a morning sample. It’s 900 yen, so it’s affordable (^^).

Coffee beans are also sold at the store. The storefront has a somewhat nostalgic feel. Let’s go inside! . The inside also has a retro feel. The atmosphere was relaxing and the space was comfortable. Whoa. A world map made of coffee beans.

Is this the origin of the coffee beans sold at the store? . The chair also has a houndstooth pattern and a wooden frame that gives it a retro feel. As for the menu. There are many types of coffee. You can also choose from a variety of beans. Light meals are also available.

For breakfast, you can choose from 3 sets. And there’s cake too. There were authentic cakes. And juice. There were also a variety of desserts. We are particular about our coffee. In particular, the water used is Miyamizu. This famous water has long been known as the raw material for Nada’s sake.

Fruit set 900 yen. You can choose from drinks such as coffee and mixed juice. Looks delicious (^^). It also comes with fruit punch. For the drink, I chose blended coffee. The cups are made at a pottery in Arita. The set had high-color colors typical of Kobe (^^).

The bucket is divided into two parts. It looks nice because it’s a rear seat (^^). Looks delicious (^^). The salad is crunchy! . The rim of the mug is thick. It is dark roasted and has a bitter taste. Fruit punch contains a variety of fruits. It also contained melon.

Overall, it was less sweet and had a mature taste. Maybe it’s because I’ve been drinking Nishimura coffee for a long time. I feel relieved. I had a wonderful and elegant time in a classical atmosphere (^^). Next, we will head to Ijinkan, since Kobe is an Ijinkan.

It’s about a 12 minute walk from here. I’ve gotten pretty high up there. The climb continues all the way to the Ijinkan. You might also want to take the City Loop. That is! . There’s a stylish Starbucks. It is a two-story wooden house built in 1907 (Meiji 40).

It seems that it was originally owned by an American. There is a wooden store logo design made just for this store. It was scheduled to be demolished after being damaged in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Kobe City received the donated building, dismantled it, and stored the parts.

It seems that it was rebuilt or relocated to its current location. It is also designated as a national tangible cultural property. The weathercock house, the symbol of Ijinkan, came into view. You will arrive if you go up this road. The green building is the tourist information center.

There are 16 Ijinkans, including large and small ones. This time, I will go to the place where you can enter with the Kobe Sightseeing Smart Pass. First, let’s go to see the weathercock house. Kitano Ijinkan is a place where foreigners who left their homeland set up residences on a hill overlooking the sea.

It is a town that was born out of a desire for one’s hometown. It’s on a hill, so the climb continues until the end. arrival. Kitano seems to have a friendly relationship with the Montmartre area of Paris. This building is the weathervane house. Broadcast on NHK TV drama.

It is said to have triggered a nationwide boom in Western-style houses. Unfortunately, it is currently closed due to seismic renovation work. It has an appearance that seems to be the symbol of Kitano Ijinkan. Next, I came to the Moegi mansion next to it. The building is bright yellow.

For some reason, there is a statue of an old man playing the saxophone (^^). It was the residence of Mr. Hunter Sharp, who became the American Consul General in Kobe. It was built in 1903. This is also an important cultural property. The price is 400 yen for adults.

Please take off your shoes here. Videos were not allowed inside the museum, so this is a light introduction with photos. After several changes in ownership, Hideo Kobayashi (former president of Kobe Electric Railway) took over in 1945. He lived there until 1978. Most of the furniture is original to the Kobayashi family.

It is being used as is. The decoration of the fireplace is luxurious. Each fireplace has a different decoration. When you look at each room, you can imagine what life was like back then. I went up to the second floor. The bathtub is large, probably because foreigners can take a bath.

Is this a children’s room? Notice the shape of the fireplace. There is a terrace on the second floor. You can see the direction of Kobe Port. The glass is swaying and gives it a retro feel. I came outside. It’s currently a bright yellow color.

It is said that it was called the “White Ijinkan” because it was painted white for a long time. There was a chimney at the top. Is there one fireplace for each? I lived in Kobe for over 40 years. Today was my first time at an Ijinkan.

Today I want to visit various places that are new to me. I’ll wander around a few more places. Next we came to a place where European foreigners gathered. It’s about a 5 minute walk from the weathercock house mentioned earlier. There are three Ijinkans here and it’s easy to get around.

First is the house in Vienna, Austria. Admission fee is 500 yen. The theme here is composer Mozart. It introduces Austrian culture and exhibits items related to Mozart. The interior is a reproduction of an aristocratic house from the 18th and 19th centuries. There is also a second floor.

The interior was very typical of Vienna. There are replicas of the piano Mozart used to compose. The black keyboard was impressive. Next is the Denmark pavilion. Admission fee is 500 yen. This is Denmark’s Viking Museum. In cooperation with Andersen Museum. Introducing the history and culture of Denmark, a Scandinavian country.

Inside, there is a 1/2 size replica of a Viking ship on display. Viking material exhibition. The study of fairy tale author Andersen was also recreated. Next, I will go to the Dutch pavilion. I like that the arches look European. We have arrived at the Dutch pavilion.

For a long time, it was used as the residence of the Dutch Consul General. Admission fee is 700 yen. The building was built in the mid-Taisho period. The two-story wooden hipped structure gives it a nostalgic feel. this is! . It seems that the roots of vending machines were created in France.

What kind of vending machine is it? . It’s a Dutch pavilion, so there are wooden shoes. big! . The front entrance has a stylish feel. When you enter, you will find European-style antique furniture. You will be overwhelmed by the atmosphere reminiscent of those days.

Inside, the tools actually used by the maids are also on display. The stairs leading up to the second floor also have a profound retro feel. The bathroom is also Dutch style. There is also a room for the consul. It looks like he actually worked here. The Dutch pavilion was worth seeing.

From here, head south toward the port. The way back is downhill, so my legs move smoothly (^^). On the way there was the Darvish Museum. There are various experience zones inside. It seems that you can experience Yu Darvish’s charm from various angles. Let’s go to Ikuta Shrine.

There is a torii gate like Fushimi Inari here. Ikuta Shrine is an old shrine with a history of over 1800 years. It is famous for its matchmaking benefits. The tower gate is very splendid and one of the highlights. There is Ikuta Forest in the back. It is a recommended spot for sightseeing.

Because it’s almost time for lunch. Let’s head to a restaurant where you can eat Kobe beef at a reasonable price. The restaurant I’m heading to now is Kobe Beef Steak & Hamburger Kamishige. It is about a 10 minute walk from JR Sannomiya Station.

Kobe beef steak & hamburger Kamishige 10 minutes walk from JR Sannomiya station Business hours 11:00-15:00 (LO 14:30) Irregular holidays. The restaurant will be open for lunch only. This set includes soup, salad, and pilaf. The cheapest set is 2,510 yen. There is also a set with skirt steak. Let’s go! .

The inside of the store had a stylish wood-based feel. There are 11 seats. We recommend making a reservation before visiting. The set pilaf can be changed to rice. Refills are also free. First came the beef consommé soup. The soup also contains shredded beef.

It has a mild taste and goes straight into your stomach. And then there’s the salad. The salad was orthodox, but the quantity was large. Aimori set (Kobe beef + US skirt steak) 3060 yen. 100 grams of Kobe beef and 50 grams of US skirt steak. Kobe beef is in the foreground.

We purchase Kobe beef directly from “Kobe Usunaga Farm”. Since the store is rented, they are able to offer it at a reasonable price. And pilaf. There are various seasonings. I like that the garlic chips are free (^^). First, let’s eat it without adding anything.

The parts of the meat on this day were lamp and the lean meat was beautiful (^^). delicious! . The meat is soft and has a soft texture (^^). You can feel the flavor and sweetness of the meat. Garlic chips here. How about skirt steak? This one is a little chewy and meaty.

Kobe beef has an elegant taste. Even though it’s rare, I don’t notice any odor at all. delicious! . Pilaf also contains shredded meat. If you want a little more punch, you can adjust it with rock salt. Kobe beef is delicious when eaten as is, but it is also available with steak sauce.

The vegetables were also crunchy and delicious ( ¨̮ ). It was great to be able to enjoy Kobe beef at a reasonable price while sightseeing in Kobe. Thank you for the meal! . Next, we will take a stroll around the former settlement. It’s still a stylish place.

If you go to the back of the store, you’ll see that there are quite a lot of empty stores… This is the only building that gives you the feel of a former settlement. There are also remains of the original sewer system. This sewer system has been designated as a national tangible cultural property.

Along with Yokohama, it is the oldest Western-style sewer system in Japan. I’m surprised that it’s still in use today. This is the former Kobe Settlement Jugobankan. It is the only remaining building from the settlement era in the former settlement. This is also a nationally designated important cultural property.

It was used as the American consulate for 10 years from 1881. Although it is Western-style, it is unique in that it has a tiled roof. There is currently a restaurant on the first floor. There are also many buildings with a retro feel that are one of the highlights.

From now on, I will aim for Nankinmachi. It’s about an 8 minute walk from the former foreign settlement. Kobe Daimaru is a representative of the former foreign settlement. When I lived in Kobe, I went there countless times (^^). arrival. This is the famous entrance.

There are about 100 stores in Nankinmachi, which stretches about 270m from east to west and about 110m from north to south. Nankinmachi has a long history and is said to have been founded in the first year of the Meiji era. Let’s go! . There are many new shops opening compared to the past.

Whoa. I would like to try Peking duck once. A grilled xiao long bao shop! . Business hours in Tsubamenan Nankin Town Weekdays 11:00-22:00 (LO21:00) Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays 10:30-22:00 (LO21:00) *Short hours and irregular holidays. A set of 3 xiao long bao is 400 yen. Let’s go inside. Whoa.

How many pieces are made in a day? It’s pretty big. Set of 3 grilled xiao long bao for 400 yen. I was also able to choose jade grilled xiao long bao. The white one is “Shanghai-yaki Xiaolongbao” and the green one is “Jade-yaki Xiaolongbao.”

Since it is baked all at once over high heat, the bottom is amber and looks delicious (^^). It was too hot… I recommend breaking it once before eating. We also have black vinegar, so let’s try that. With chewy and fragrant dough.

The meat juices that overflow from the dough and the black vinegar intertwine to make it extremely delicious! . And the jade grilled xiao long bao. This one has spinach powder in it, so it’s green. The dough is quite elastic. I couldn’t really differentiate the taste from the white one though.

The meat has no odor and is juicy and delicious. This restaurant has a large eat-in space in the back, so you can sit and eat slowly. Next to it is grilled xiao long bao. This one was more popular. Fried rice noodles are also sold here.

The eat-in space has 28 seats on the second floor. Although it’s a weekday today, it’s very busy. Est Royal Nankinmachi Main Store 5 minutes south from JR Motomachi Station Business hours 10:00 – 18:30 Closed during the year-end and New Year holidays.

This is a store that I have been going to for 30 years. There used to be a shop on the main street. This shop’s choux a la crème is absolutely delicious. I always buy it when I’m nearby (^^). Choux a la crème 260 yen.

It’s not a great product, but the taste is great (^^). The choux pastry is slightly hard and fragrant. The cream puff contains vanilla beans and has a slightly softer cream. You can see vanilla beans. The choux a la crème and pomegranate Motomachi cake here are iron plated (^^).

It’s very crowded today, so I’ll come again in the evening. Check in to the hotel. Today’s accommodation is Dormy Inn Kobe Motomachi. I was assigned a room on a high floor. You can probably see the illuminations at the foot of the mountain from here (^^). I’ll take a short break before heading out.

From now on, I will head towards Meriken Park. From here it is about a 15 minute walk to the famous BEKOBE monument. We will soon arrive at the entrance to Meriken Park. Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel is right in front of you.

I stayed there before and it was like a resort hotel surrounded by the sea. We have arrived at BE KOBE. The light shines (^^). This area has a typical view of Kobe ( ¨̮ ). Luminous Kobe is anchored. From now on, I’m going to go on a sightseeing boat.

Passports can also be used on sightseeing boats. The Port Tower will be fully restored soon ( ¨̮ ). We were approaching the platform. There are three sightseeing boats that depart from here. Choose the ship you want to ride based on the day of the week, time, cruise time and course.

The ship we are about to board is the Royal Princess. arrival. I like the ship’s whistle (^^). The price is 1500 yen for adults. I took the last flight leaving at 16:45. At this time of year, you can enjoy sunset cruises and night cruises.

I’m looking forward to riding it for the first time. The ship is quite large. The ship is spacious and can accommodate 500 people. Let’s go to the second floor. There was a store on the second floor. Let’s go out on deck.

When you go out on the deck, you can see the sea in full view (^^). Looks like there’s still more to come. There is a sky deck above. Everyone was gathered here. This seems to be the best place to see the various views.

You can see the port tower from a good distance, neither too close nor too far. There is a sightseeing boat called Ataka Maru. Because it was the last minute before leaving the port. I couldn’t get a good position with a good view… We are leaving the port.

The boat cruises around Kobe Port for 40 to 45 minutes. You can also see Kobe Ohashi Bridge. The sun is gradually coming out. A mosaic is now visible. I think I’ll try mosaic later. And a big Ferris wheel. A submarine! .

In Japan, repairs and construction are carried out only at Kawasaki and Mitsubishi shipyards. The captain’s onboard announcements explain each location, so it’s fun to learn about them. Since it’s inside the port, you won’t feel much of a tremor. The sea is calm and the wind feels nice (¨̮).

The foot of the mountain lights are also on. It was cloudy on this day, but we could see some sunset. There’s a submarine over there too! . There are submarines rumbling around (^^). You can see the whole thing from here. Kobe Airport is nearby, so you can take a flight. A little sunset.

If you use a telephoto lens, you can also see Akashi Ohashi Bridge. The city has probably been lit up as well. That is! . This is Kobe Port First Breakwater East Lighthouse. This is the only lighthouse in Japan that has a port name written on it.

A female calligrapher prays for the safety of the port. This is a piece with the powerful words “Kobe Port” written on it. It is a unique but memorable character. The lighting is 100% Kobe-like (^^). This is worth seeing on a cruise ship! .

Before we knew it, the port tower was also lit up. The Oriental Hotel, the Maritime Museum, etc. are all lit up. And the anchor and Kobe city mark! . I arrived at Kobe Ohashi Bridge. It’s very impressive when you see it up close! . I’ll turn around here and go back.

This area has the best night view (^^). The Port Tower was completed in 1963 and is 108 meters high. It is the world’s first pipe structure building. Another name is “Beauty of the Steel Tower”.

I haven’t climbed all the way to the top yet, so I’d like to climb it once it reopens (^^). The cruise is now over. The Maritime Museum is intensely lit up (^^). It was my first time riding it and it was great. I lived in Kobe for many years.

It was so close that I had never done any sightseeing typical of Kobe. Next, let’s move on to the mosaic. We have arrived at the mosaic. There are approximately 80 unique stores here, including gourmet, fashion, and other stores. I used to shop here often. I came to the mosaic Ferris wheel.

Passports can be used here as well. Let’s go. It’s big when you look up from the bottom (^^). The fee is 800 yen. It’s been decades since we saw a Ferris wheel. I don’t remember riding it (^^). If you notice, you can even ride alone.

I realized that I am now old enough to not feel embarrassed at all (^^). I wouldn’t have been able to get on board if I didn’t have my passport. You can see the Anpanman Museum next to it. You can see the gas light street illumination in the back.

When I first saw it, I remember being impressed and thinking it looked like the Champs Elysées. The illumination seen from above is also beautiful (^^). We will soon reach the highest point. The highest part is 50m high. This is the highest point.

From the Ferris wheel, you can enjoy night views in all directions (^^). And the old Kobe Port signal station came into view. It is the oldest existing signal station building in Kobe Port. There is also a manual elevator inside. One lap took about 11 minutes. It’s almost over.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Ferris wheel. It was fun (^^). I will return to the hotel once. Arrive at the hotel. The hotel offers a one-drink service, so I use it. After drinking beer, I will go to Nankinmachi.

It is lit up at night and has a completely different atmosphere than during the day. Let’s go to the central square. When I was there, the Nankinmachi Lantern Fair was being held. I came to the store I went to during the day. There is an eat-in space. This this.

I want to try this once. Cut the skin with scissors. I like that they add the sauce on the spot (^^). Go to the eat-in space. Peking duck 400 yen. At other shops, Peking duck was 400 to 500 yen. There is plenty of sweet noodle soup. Sweet noodle soup is similar to gochijang.

Hmm, the taste of sweet noodle soup is all over the place. It seems like the taste of Peking duck is hidden… There are cucumbers and green onions inside. I was able to eat the Peking duck that I had always wanted, so I headed out for dinner.

Speaking of Kobe, it’s Western food, so from now on, I’m heading to a Western restaurant. This time I will go to the famous store Quattro in Motomachi. As for the location of the shop.

It is a 1 minute walk from the west exit of JR Motomachi Station and 2 to 3 minutes from Nankinmachi. arrival. Western Restaurant Quattro 185m from Motomachi Station (JR) Business hours [Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday] Lunch 11:30-15:00 (LO 14:30) Dinner 17:30-22:00 (LO 21:00) [Sunday] ] Lunch 11:30-15:00 (LO 14:30) Closed on Mondays.

It has also been selected as one of Tabelog’s 100 Famous Restaurants. Let’s go in. The restaurant is more like a Western restaurant. It feels like a restaurant. As for the menu. Most are under 2000 yen. There are many options to choose from (^^). Dinner time does not come with rice and miso soup.

Order with side dishes. The Quattro set meal also looks delicious (^^). And today’s appetizers and salads. We also have a variety of drinks. Kirin Ichiban Shibori 600 yen. The way you pour it is nice (^^). Let’s have a drink first. Fried shrimp + hamburger 1,600 yen; rice + miso soup 250 yen.

The presentation is also elegant (¨̮). It’s orthodox, but it looks really delicious (^^). And for miso soup. It’s rice. The tartar sauce that comes with it also looks delicious (^^). It also comes with mashed potatoes. Fried shrimp is shrimp with a head. It’s really big. The hamburger steak is fluffy (^^).

The hamburger steak comes with a good demi-glace sauce. delicious! . The juicy meat goes well with the sweet and sour demi-glace sauce. The meal is progressing (^^). The fried eggs are perfectly half-boiled. It seems to have a richer taste when eaten with a hamburger. Rich! . It’s fried shrimp. Plenty of tartar sauce.

The inside is tightly packed (^^). Crispy! . The shrimp has a light texture, so it goes well with the tartar sauce. It has a nice crunchy texture! . Miso soup in Western food is also good (^^). It seems that the demi-glace sauce takes two weeks to make. It takes time and effort.

No leftover demi-glace sauce. It makes me feel happy (^^). It was really delicious (^^). The price was reasonable and I was very satisfied. It’s quite popular, so there’s a long line during lunch. Return to hotel. There are almost no people in Nankinmachi at this time of the day. I’m back at the hotel.

That’s all for today’s video. The next VLOG video will be about Arima Onsen. Thank you for watching this far. See you again in the next video! .
