On January 7, the Yokohama Fire New Year’s Ceremony, an annual New Year’s event, was held at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.
The New Year’s Firefighting Ceremony is held annually by the Yokohama Fire Department to raise public awareness of firefighting activities.
This year, the ceremony was held to raise awareness of disaster prevention among Yokohama citizens in the midst of the ongoing rescue and recovery efforts following the massive earthquake that hit the Noto Peninsula on New Year’s Day.
At the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Yokohama expressed his commitment to disaster prevention, followed by the traditional “Matoi-Furikomi” and “Ladder Riding” that have been performed since the Edo period, as well as a comprehensive drill simulating a large-scale disaster and a simultaneous water discharge.

11:00〜 オープニングセレモニー 【横浜市長による決意表明】 横浜市長の山中竹春です おはようございます 本日は横浜消防式にお越しをいただきまして 誠にありがとうございます 挨拶に先立ちましてこの度の能登半島地震で被災された 多くの方に心からお見舞を申し上げます 本市は発災後、ただちに給水車の派遣、航空消防隊の派遣、 飲料水等、救援物資のお届け 職員の派遣などを行ってまいりましたが これからも全力で被災地を支えてまいります 日本最大の自治体である横浜市 377万もの市民の皆様の安全と 安心その暮らしを守り抜くために 3800名の市の消防職員 そして、8000名を超える消防団員の皆様が 昼夜を問わず活動しています 横浜市はかねてより地域の皆様のご協力のもと、 地域防災の要である消防団員の増員に 積極的に取り組んでまいりました 現在の定員充足率は97%と非常に高い充足率を誇っております この数字は全国的に見てもトップクラスの消防団員の 充足率であります 10代から70代までの幅広い世代の皆様が 地域防災の要として地域で活躍して くださっている、それがこの横浜市であります 本日の出初式では消防団員の皆様と市の消防職員が 市民の皆様をお守りするために日々重ねている 鍛錬の成果を披露させていただきます 横浜古式消防保存会の皆様による伝統的な演技、 特別行動救助部隊、通称スーパーレインジャーによる、 総合訓練、そして一斉放水を行います 横浜市が誇る消防力を皆様是非間近で ご覧ください また会場には消火器体験など多くの体験コーナーを設けておりますので 皆様もどうかこの出初式を機に、日頃からの防災への備えを 進めていただけるようお願い申し上げます いつ起こるかわからない災害 その災害に向けて市民の皆様の命と暮らしを守り抜く そのためにも万全を期してこれからも 強靭な横浜市の防災力を築き上げてまいります 結びになりますがこの1年がどうか 市民の皆様にとりまして健やかな年となることを記念申し上げまして 私からのご挨拶とさせていただきます
