A brand new ship of Miyazaki Car Ferry in Japan went into service on the 15th of April, 2022.
The name of the ship is Takachiho.

For the price you paid for the room I would have expected it to be like the ferries here which have an ensuite toilet/shower. The fact that it didn’t is strange, they need to fix that, why should you have to pay more to lock up your belongings when you already paid a lot for a room with a lock on it that you cannot lock from the outside…some kinks in the machinery on this one
Thank you for sharing this journey with us. I have to say, the maiden voyage didn't win any prizes. I was amazed by the high cost of that room ! No key, a stationary chair, thin walls and long lines for the restaurant… was not a great first impression. Your sense of humor saved the day !! "I'm waving, give me the key".. lol.
tbh, based on the 25 year old ship compared to this new one, i didn't really see any upgrades expect for cleaner rooms. everything looked so claustrophobic here
I am guessing that the price was higher due to the Maiden Voyage of the ship, you for sure paid a premium price for that experience. I can see how that must have been frustrating but you had to at least known what the room looked like when you booked your ticket? Do they not have pictures? I feel like maybe you let a lot of what happened get to you and it affected the quality of the video. It seems really off putting that you would be so upset that there is a wait for something that is brand new and popular at the time. Glad you saw that at the end not everything always works out but you really put off weird vibes in this video that are off putting and almost make you seem a bit impatient and grouchy
Between the small room with no key and the buffet lines, I can see why you're so discouraged. I would be, also.
Om nom nom!!! Food looks great!! Best wishes from the UK from me and my Husky! 🙂
Far too expensive for such a tiny room where your possessions are not safe when you aren't there. Also, no excuse for the poorly designed restaurant.
Thank you for sharing. Now I know which ferry company to avoid.
As a female traveler I would have to have a key to my room so I could sleep at night, that is just too weird. For the money you should have a bed that is made for you and a key!
What a ripoff
It was as if you were staying at an expensive capsule hotel. It doesn't seem that the layout of the ship was well thought out at all. Thanks for taking us along👍
Right said Solo Traveller in the end … I think the amount you paid for this ride was not worth as your previous rides…🙂
Are the egg things attached to the table to hang a purse from?
the new ship is very cold looking , i don't like the cabins no key for door, no bathroom.
I wonder what the key thief rate is for a maiden voyage, or a grand opening of a hotel. That is the only reason I can imagine they withheld the key from people. But without you going a second time, it would be hard for us to know
No room key, narrow hallway, long waiting line at the buffet. Still seems a little creepy to me. I want to hear "Sunflower, Sunflower,,," ha ha.
Okay, this is the third time I have watched this, figured out why no key. Isn't there a law saying that capsule rooms are not lockable? Yes it can be locked from the inside, but by it not locked from the outside means your not in the cabin. This would be useful in the event of an emergency, but that's the only reason I can think of.
I'm trying to book a cabin for this coming week but the website isn't very helpful, anyone have some tips or suggestions?
160 USD for that room seems very expensive. I’d expect something a little more spacious for that price. And the no key situation was very weird. Still, as always I enjoyed going on this boat ride with you, Solo-san 😊
How about you go on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas? 🙂
Was there a Laundry Room on the ship? I may have missed that part…
how do I book the tickets if I don't speak Japanese? Can someone help? thks
I like that they have named it after Takachiho. One of the most beautiful spots in Kyushu and one of my favourite places.
Maybe I’m biased, but I actually think the Takachiho Gorge is one of the most beautiful spots I’ve been to in my life – not just in Kyushu!!
That seems a little expensive. I'd ask a crew about that price.
That hallway going into your room looked more like a prison than a ferry. I almost expected to see slots on the bottom of the doors to slide your meals in to you. 😛
"I'm waving. Now give me the key!" 😅
I like your humor a lot. thx!
I love watching your videos! And the best part is the food. The variety you get on these ferries is amazing! Well, we missed out on breakfast this time, but there are lots of other occasions. Keep up the good work 😊
Oh I think this room is way too much for the price. The very fact you don't have a key is wild. It was too crowded. You kept bumping into passengers. For a new vessel, it looked outdated. It's a shame most the vessels you take are beautiful and I think are worth the price.
