Okay so I thought I’d do a little walk around of the accommodation we’ve been staying out for the last uh few nights here in kyotto so here’s a little recess area for your shoes and a heavy duty Stone step and then up into the kitchen area and uh we have had six people

Living here for the last few nights four adults and two teens and uh there’s a little kitchen there with a fridge freezer Cutlery Crockery microwave recycling station and a little sitting area here with all our bags lots of split system air conditioning units everywhere as we

Back into the uh kind of living area here there’s a little TV um and a little sitting area well I say sitting but really it’s kind of a kneeling area uh traditional style uh setting uh and the floor is all T Tomy mats as well uh place to hang an extra kind of

Quote unquote bed uh sleeping area it’s a very tight space down there there is a little uh Garden out there you can walk out if you like and then um as I back into this area here just beware it’s uh well you just got to be careful with the

Doors and the walls they are a little bit light um just little steps as you walk around be super careful um there’s a main bathroom here with a uh sink area with towels they give you plenty of and there’s a uh wet room here with the bathtub and

A shower I’d give this pressure a 8 out of 10 maybe 7 and 1/2 not too bad I’ll just turn it on there you go a full blast there you go wet room it does wet that seal over there but you can put the blinds down if you like

Okay um and then there’s a little toilet room there with a Japanese style flush there is a washer but no dryer and there’s a um door out there which I can’t access and then um up the stairs Here We Go Again need to be quite light foot walls fuel paper thin another

Little toilet here Japanese style flight little sink there and what I like about this place is that there are plenty of plugs as well so plug in your devices for charging Etc um there’s like one big room with two doors and then like a separator divider which you can pull let

Me just show you so you go again very uh thin walled but uh it came with two beds well low beds and then some more mattresses on the floor so it could technically sleep six I think six adults might be a bit of a stretch but I think with a couple of

Teens or kids might be okay um yeah and that’s pretty much it um like I said lots of split system air conditioning units everywhere so nice and cozy and warm throughout um just fix this up feel bad leaving a mess it is Japan after all and that’s it

That’s uh that’s our accommodation here in Kyoto okay so I set the garden you can walk around but it’s a very tight space so you can probably take about five steps if that and then pop back in it’s a little bit fresh in Winter goodbye

Japan as we roll our bags to the Kyoto station and goodbye accommodation all right catching the shin kanen for the last time from Kyoto all the way to Tokyo let’s do this right two tickets in cuz we’re in the green car reserve seats and the Jr pass

Boom okay so let’s see what’s around the F to Shin content station you saw the waiting room in the corner there then boarding Gates it’s only a relatively small Shin station so not that many facilities I think I’m just used to Japan now but having said that there

Still probably a lot more than what youd back in Australia anyway you got Starbucks there in the corner then you’ve got your walk through here got uh more shops to buy snacks eky bin over there and then through here you’ve got some more shops all restaurants well I say restaurants not many sitting

Places more for buying things to eat on the train hear that um Australian lady’s voice she is a singer Australian singer and she does all the announcements in English for the shinan go another shop there to buy snacks for the train and further on as well so yeah

It’s pretty impressive what you find at the shinan S station even for a smaller station like heo one thing I’ve noticed about Japan though is that they’re actually not many places to sit in public areas uh and obviously not many uh rubbish spins either so you kind of have to hold your

Own rubbish for a while until you find one aren’t these lunch boxes awesome that’s what you can buy for the train it looks so good oh how I’m going to miss you filling triangular rice snack all right that’s us Hikari 506 128 platform 11 okay platform 11/12 for Nagoya and

Tokyo he comes out trying to Tokyo the platform is very crowded Today so Joy’s got one of these special iy B boxes that apparently are self-heating so apparently you pull this yellow string see what happens just unbox it First instructions on how to do it just pull the string it should pop up with steam 5 to 6 minutes 5 to 6 minutes is that well okay I’m going to pull the string do I P I don’t know it’s be interesting do I just okay okay whole

Thing came out Y and then I just wait 5 minutes is it let see wow that’s seriously started get warm it’s amazing okay while Joyce is cooking I’ll get started on mine I’ve got a salmon box all right ready for the unboxing looks good not hot

Though I know fish or friends are not food but that’s really good okay time for Joy’s unboxing warm the bottom especially oh yeah that’s I said to watch for steam so okay let’s watch for steam styrofoam feels warm oh yeah wouldn’t say it’s piping

Hot but d itely warm they not 5 to 6 minutes I think got a bit of patience close enough looks good wow sell many things in Japan ignorance is punished so watch out for these Fishbones look at that don’t often see Fishbones that big anymore back in

Australia when you eat out so just take V when you eat fish in Japan okay so Joy polished off her eky bin um but let’s find out how this actually self Heats us so let’s take off that top tray and inside is a um I guess a chemical pack chemical reaction that

Happens when we pull that string and let me tell you it’s actually quite hot under there so that’s actually very impressive I wonder what the shelf life is on one of These okay so we’re back in Tokyo goodbye shinen for now and we are back in the craziness that is Tokyo Station so we’re going to look for the Kahuku line which is covered by the Jr pass and then change for the monal in a few stops time

Okay so we worked out that anything with a J and in a box is covered by the Jr pass so we’ll catch the train on platform six okay here we are at hucho station we’re going to change for the Tokyo monal line straight to Tokyo Hana airport okay Tokyo monal okay tapping

Out and we will catch the monil to the airport okay and then down to the monal hopefully this will be easy enough to find okay sence points to monor rail Straight Ahead this is a very very tight escalator just fits my suitcase all right our monil is here and supposedly it’s an Express

Train terminal terminal terminal okay we made it to Terminal 3 of Hana airport there was an Express train so this was the first stop only took about I don’t know 10 minutes at Le very fast and onward now to check in oh should let you know too that this

Also goes to uh terminals 1 and two as well this Tokyo monal and this is the last time using our trusty Jr pass how sad it served us really well until next time all right so I just returned our pocket Wi-Fi and I must say I was not so

Impressed with that product I think the next time we come to Japan I probably use uh eims for the whole family um it just wasn’t as reliable as I was hoping so our lesson for next time okay so the final video of the series will be focusing on VA virsion Australia Flight

78 from Tokyo Huna back to K’s airport and then back to Sydney onward bound back home so stay tuned for that one

  1. Wow! amazing trip of a lifetime has come to an end, thanks for taking us all on this journey. Well made vlogs and clear & clean and very informative

  2. Thanks Tom and your family for sharing your adventure in Japan with all of us. I've really enjoyed your videos. I know this isn't the last one mind you as last one is your flights back. Luckily you missed the flooding in Cairns as the airport the water was up to the doors of big aircraft like 737 size from the picture I saw. Your JR pass looked like it was paper, probably wouldn't want to get it wet then and interesting has a expiry date so you can buy the number of days you need in advance.
