Want to enjoy hanami 花見 like many local Japanese do (and away from the crazy crowds)? Join me as I explore Mikamine Park 三神峯公園 in Sendai City, Miyagi with my friend, Jingting, who visited from Singapore!
Clean shots for Instagram aside, this park is my top recommendation for an off-the-beaten-path hanami experience. It was really nice seeing families get together and there were so many excited children playing ball and other games! Extra yay because I even met some of my students there! 😀
You can get to Mikamine Park by taxi or bus. It sounds difficult to get to, but it really isn’t. Leave a comment if you’d like tips on how to get there. Definitely a spot you won’t want to miss if you’re in the Tohoku region of Japan in spring!
