Okay so just a quick Vlog this morning from the Osaka Bridge Hotel you’ve seen my free breakfast you’ve seen the free Ramen you’ve seen the free drinks free alcohol downstairs every night I guess the compromise to this hotel is that the rooms are actually quite small you seen

What we look like walking around Osaka and Tokyo so far we’re not big people and even then we found it a little bit tight the four of us in this room but nonetheless comfy and cozy um lots of power points here USB charging ports uh storage down here little tiny little

Fridge down there safe in that drawer um and a few shelves here split system air conditioning and then you’ve got um two normal single siiz beds so that one in the corner King single here room of the laneway downstairs and then you’ve got another um King single in that corner

And then a um a normal single there few hanging hooks and it definitely feels like you’re on a cruise in this room it’s very tight humidifier in the corner here for um dry periods is it or is it is it a dehumidifier I’m not sure maybe both

And then in here this definitely feels like either a first class uh Airline toilet or a ship bathroom once again um you’ve got the Japanese style toilet with the flushes um you’ve got very tight space here sink uh shower bath area very good shower pressure by the

Way possibly even too strong I’ve never said that about it any hotel I’ve stayed at but that’s very strong water pressure nice meling soaps and conditioner shampoo all that stuff and uh the shower curtain does separate the bath shower area from the rest um of the toilet here at the Osaka Bridge

Hotel all right so that was our last morning here at the Osaka Bridge Hotel and uh what a delightful stay that was um despite the smaller rooms um it was still very comfortable and certainly made up for with the fact that we had free breakfast free buffet breakfast every morning and

Also free Ramen and free alcohol every night as well um I think if there were two people in that room it wouldn’t be so bad but I think having four of us particularly with two teens um we felt like we were kind of living on top of

Each other most of the time so we may consider uh uh renting two rooms next time we Osaka and we’ll definitely consider staying at the Bridge Hotel once again all right so this morning we are going to all our bags to the shinai Bashi Metro station catch a connecting

Train to the shin oaka uh shinen station and we’ll be traveling to Pima this morning so join us as we make our way There okay Shin Jr pass two pass together okay and we’re good okay so here’s our Shin kanen today we are catching the Sakura train which I believe is a bit faster wearing car number six in the green car we’ve got reserved seats I’m really looking forward to

It looking at the board suck 555 that do the top one 1220 and it definitely stops at Hiroshima there’s about five stops in between including KOB okama fukuyama and then Hiroshima and you can double check Sakura 555 1220 you check signs everywhere make sure you’re on the right

Train and then you can see the car that you’re about to board two different types there pink sakur out there car number six Okay so here we are on the uh Sakura super Express shin conen and apparently these trains can go up to 300 km an hour um as you saw with my speed test it’s only going at 237 km an hour and trust me it feels fast enough uh I’m sitting

In the um green car which is like the premium business class of this um train um it’s got reserve seating the first three cars of this train are for the non-reserve standard seat section and then the rest of the train is either uh premium or standard seats but are all

Reserved um it’s quite a busy time of year so the person next to me is not Joy she’s sitting across the aisle from me there and then the kids are sitting by themselves behind Joy so um yeah just enjoying the facilities in terms of which are all pretty similar to the

Hikari train that we set in from Tokyo at or suaka very comfortable and you can also order food as well uh from the um menu online I believe have to check that later on all right um I’ll enjoy the rest of this trip we shouldn’t be too much

Longer out to Hiroshima um and you only get about a minute to get off the train because um they’re very fast and they’re very punctual and left exactly at 12:20 on the dot it’s no joke uh when the chime comes on you have to get your

Stuff ready to get off cuz you only get 1 minute and fun fact the um Australian female voice you hear on the shinan S trains is the voice of Donna Burke who is an Australian singer and she announces all the um all the English announcements uh on the shinan trains

Here in Japan fun fact all right here I am the V build area it’s exactly the same as the hiar train that I showed you guys in an earlier Vlog all very clean comfortable and there’s the outside world rocketing fire 200 plus km an hour wow that’s

Quick Okay so we’ve arrived at Hiroshima station all of the same standard across Japan that I can see so far beautiful raway Stations Express no of me 198 depart Right exiting two tickets in for the Jr pass and we get one back yay you know when you’re in a parking lot and there are just lots of parking spots you kind of undecided which one to park in kind of looking for the best option well we’re kind of experiencing

That right now in harima Shinken station there are just so many food Outlets and they all look so good it’s really hard to decide they kind of Spore for Choice it’s just amazing that this is literally just a railway station it’s just absolutely incredible we’re really small

Here okay so we’ve decided on Italian food because we’re curious to see how the Japanese do European food looks pretty good so far couldn’t resist started on the chips P up there There’s my bongay looking forward to digging into that setting herea Shin station rest’s called musle so it turns out the Japanese do European food well very well in fact in fact they do everything else well here trains shops it’s just the amazing all right let’s go to the

Hotel even a construction site has been covered up to make it look reasonable amazing uh Hiroshima City little tram Network electric trams obviously Hiroshima is a relatively new city just dragging our suitcases through some of the back lanes and alleys of Hiroshima now that is a very very tight

Laneway that’s an even tighter lanway okay so about a 10 minute walk from the shin konen station here we are at the fa hotel at Hiroshima and here’s our room wow look at this look at the view of Hiroshima amazing just crossing the river here and we’re going to walk towards the Memorial

Park all right so we’re going to catch one of these street cars here’s a map of the street cars in Hiroshima Heated Seats okay we’re crossing the street yoshima hondori street walking through another really cool arcade there are bicycles everywhere here in Hiroshima and um another example of how safe it is here in Japan people just leave their bikes here with the kickstand down no locks no chains and uh

They trust that it’ll be safe and still there when they come back later on I love it cute little parking lot here these spots are tiny designed for little Japanese cars for for all yeah really is quite a somber mood being here uh it does punctuate the entire city this uh the

The tower here behind me the Dome a bomb Dome um as you walk around Hiroshima or Hiroshima it’s uh you know it does hit home how devastating would have been for a city for the entire country of Japan really that basically a whole city was flattened uh because of

You know a buom so yeah nothing like being here and realizing uh what an effect that would have been on the people of this uh of this beautiful city a stark reminder to always make peace and not war events pretty much all right so we’re back in town and

Looking for a feed tonight for dinner okay so this is dinner tonight A nice little set of carag chicken and unlimited refills of miso sou and rice um the menu had no English writing at all it’s all in Japanese so that’s where Google translate comes in handy this is

The place we eating it and no credit card item so all in cash or IC card utensils there Chopsticks I’m pretty sure this is yeah instead of um Ginger and then water for you up there glasses I’m going to tuck in all right that was a super delicious

Meal and very filling as well 20800 Yen for the whole family so about the $30 Mark and uh very good value indeed all right so let’s head back onto the street car and then back to our hotel room for the night big day for us traveling from

Osaka to Hiroshima and uh on the shinh kanen followed by a uh trip down to the uh abomb uh Dome and walking around the Hiroshima Memorial Park tomorrow we will go visit the museum um and check out more sites around hoshima as well thanks for watching so far we’ll see you tomorrow

  1. ¥155,000 (AU$1,600) for four nights [five days] is cheap 😄 😎 🤓 some probably paid upwards of ¥300,000 for a medium-sized room

  2. 1:25 in 2024 onwards every hotel/motel/Airbnb room segment you do, should do a shower water pressure test (turn on shower on-camera, and turn it off) and give a rating out of 5 or a rating out of 10 (in 0.5 increments)

  3. Hi Tom
We use Dormy inn a hotel chain but lots of extras and Onsen at every hotel and free soy ramen in the evenings and we used Yamato as luggage transfer between hotels Japan is wonderful we have been a couple of times always something new to explore.
    Enjoy

  4. Is it possible to hire an EV to get around?
Last time I looked about 18 months ago none!

  5. Tom love the trip vlogs. Did you know you can ask your hotel to send your luggage on to the next hotel. Do it 24 hours before. it’s super convenient

  6. I liked Hiroshima, the trams & laneways with the small bars & shops give it a real Melbourne-vibe. And the History adds to the character of the City. Hope you managed to try some Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki.

It seems that word is getting out how good value Japan is as a destination.

  7. Hiroshima peace park is such an emotional place to visit To see the devastation caused is unbelievable and I just hope our kids never have to go through anything like that ever again Very lucky to live in Australia Cheers
