Hey it’s Tom and Mike from take time to travel Vancouver has the most expensive rents in Canada and the food certainly isn’t known to be inexpensive either so today we’re going to take you on a Vancouver cheap eats food tour to give you some ideas on where to eat delicious

Food that won’t break the bank we’ll start in Chinatown at a place that serves traditional Chinese barbecue and is appropriately named Chinatown barbecue as soon as we stepped in side we noticed their barbecued Meats on display behind the glass their dining area has a cool retro kind of style with

A black and white tiled floor and when we were seated they brought us some complimentary tea then they offered to move us to a booth when one became available to eat I chose the roasted rack of crispy pork on steamed rice and Tom got the soy sauce chicken which came

With a ginger and scallion sauce and was also served on steamed rice another cheap beats option for two people to split is to order the large barbecue pork Hong Kong style meat platter as well as the Chinese sausage as a side dish and some extra Jasmine steamed rice

To go with it the soy chicken the crispy pork and the barbecue pork were all amazing but we ordered way too much food so we had lots of leftovers there’s lots more to eat so let’s keep going and head over to the vibrant Kitsilano neighborhood to try there there that has

The same owners as an Elena which has a Michelin star and is ranked as one of the top restaurants in Canada let’s head inside and show you what it’s like there there is a popular brunch spot with lots of plants and a Scandinavian type of Decor that is light and Airy we were

Seated at a counter right next to the front window which we likeed so that we could people watch for lunch I ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich with sesame zuk zucchini pickles cilantro shaved cabbage and spicy lime mayoli and Tom had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with lettuce honey mustard

Pickles and jalapeno aoli Tom always enjoys a good fried chicken sandwich and this one was delicious as usual I took way too big of a bite but I also found my spicy fried chicken sandwich very tasty too we loved our meal the food was amazing but we would have liked to try

Their popular donut too however they were sold out by the time we arrived so now let’s continue on our cheap Beats food tour and make our way over to Vancouver’s West End Neighborhood to try a super popular place that always has a lineup called Ramen danbo inside the

Main dining area is pretty small but there’s also a bit more seating at the counter right next to the kitchen it’s usually packed so if you want to avoid the line make sure to go as soon as it opens to begin our lunch we each had a

Saporo draft beer to drink and I ordered the chashumen Nei GMA Ramen which comes with six slices of brazed pork belly sesame oil specialty roasted sesame seeds and fresh scallions with an added softboiled egg as well as a pan fried Yaki yoza and Tom got the classic Ramen

With their signature tonkatsu pork broth two slices of bra pork belly and fresh scallions and he also added a softboiled egg in addition we shared the chashu pork and takana Don bu and the chashu porked on bu Bowl which was a ton of food the ramen here reminded us of the

Ramen in Tokyo we can see why it’s always so busy we finished everything down to the last drop but the ramens were definitely the best part the next restaurant is also in the West End over on Denman Street which is one of our favorites in the city it has so many

Tasty places to eat like Kingo which is a Japanese isaka restaurant we really like the interior with the Bamboo Garden in the middle and nice wood finishes it’s also very busy so make sure to go early to avoid a lineup we had lunch with our friends and ordered a picture

Of saporo beer to drink our friends got the three kinds of Sashimi salad with the Chef’s Choice of shashimi and organic greens they also had the crispy chicken carag as well as the grilled pork Chek to share M doesn’t that look appetizing Tom ordered the kazawa curry

And porkloin cutlet served on a thick and Rich curry with finely stewed Beef Pork and veg we loved the curry and pork cutlet the portion was huge and tasted delicious we had a fantastic meal at kingyo the food was scrumptious and it’s a great value we’d highly recommend it

But let’s keep going the next eery is just a 2-minute walk away and is called Peak pies inside the restaurant isn’t particularly big but it’s warm and cozy and there’s lots of Australian meat pies on display once our food was ready Mike brought it over to our table I chose the

Hopper meat pie with kangaroo Sage Thyme and Cabernet Mero balsamic reduction peaked with mashed potatoes mushy green peas and gravy and Tom had the traditional Aussie meat pie with ground beef onions and gravy which he also peaked with mashed potatoes mushy green peas and gravy we both thoroughly

Enjoyed our Aussie meat pies they’re the perfect meal on a rainy day in Vancouver there were also some appetizing sweets on display so we decided to get a cinnamon bun to share for dessert it was nice and moist and tasted pretty good overall we had a great meal but there’s

More to eat so let’s continue on our food tour if you’re looking for dessert anytime of the day make sure to check out Brea Bakery and Cafe which is a staple in Vancouver and open 24/7 they have a large assortment of appetizing sweets as well as cakes pastries cookies

Donuts muffins apple freers and a good selection of sandwiches and other lunch options after placing our order we sat down in their dining room to enjoy our desserts we chose the European cheesecake with a blueberry swirl inside as well as the Dutch Apple Tor we thought both of which were a great value

And very reasonably priced our favorite was the Apple Tor with a custard-like filling inside we also really love their donuts and apple fritter but we forgot to film them so let’s keep going and show you some more Cheap Eats we’ll head back over to the kit salano neighborhood

And check out Joe’s Italian deli let’s head inside and show you what it’s like as soon as we walked in we saw a section where you can get some Italian groceries and on the other side there’s a dining area after a quick look at the menu

Board we placed our order at at the front counter then we went and found a table to sit down in their seating area which was quite busy it smelled wonderful in here so we couldn’t wait for our food to be ready once our buzzer

Went off it was time for me to head to the counter and grab our lunch my mouth was watering as I brought the tray back everything looked so appetizing we shared the spaghetti and meatballs which is made with Joe’s homemade red sauce and comes with three homemade meatballs

As as well as the fetuccini Alfredo and a homemade cream sauce which we added chicken to both pastas came with a large slice of fukasha Mike also ordered one of their sandwiches called the large meatball sandwich the large meatball sandwich was filled with homemade pork meatballs red sauce parsley and grated

Parm and came on a chabata bun the fetuccini Alfredo was piping hot and nice and creamy it was amazing but I actually preferred the spaghetti and meatball Mike’s favorite was the meatball sandwich it was fantastic he really enjoyed the pasta dishes too and we had lots of leftovers it was a really good

Value the next place is also in Kitsilano and is called seagull’s Bagles that serves Montreal style Bagles and smoked meat inside we noticed lots of wood finishes and we saw them making fresh Bagles in their giant Woodfired Brick Oven there’s also lots of appetizing Bagles in the display case

When our order was ready Mike brought it to our table and we were really excited to start our lunch because we were very hungry Mike decided to get the large Montreal smoked meat sandwich on a poppy seed bagle and I chose the locks and cream cheese sandwich with wild socky

Salmon cream cheese red onions and capers on an everything bagel Mike’s Montreal smoked meat was definitely the winner it was delicious mine on the other hand was just okay the bagel was too hard the next eery is also in kits and is called Nat’s New York Pizzeria

Inside of which has a really fun and quirky interior shortly after placing our order at the front counter our food was ready I chose the beef eater pizza slice with feta cheese beef tomato and onions as well as the pesto artichoke pizza slice made with homemade pesto

Sauce and we got the chorizo mushroom pizza slice for Tom the slices of pizza were all quite big and tasted great we can’t decide which one we liked the most but let’s continue on our food tour and show you some more cheap eats in Vancouver over on the popular Grandville

Island we walked right past the healthy snacks and went straight for dessert at one of the most loved places here called Le Donuts the lineup for Le Donuts went outside and wrapped around the corner but the line moved quite fast and we were back inside in no time to try some

Of their Classic Donuts that they’ve been making from scratch since 1979 we also decided to order a few other kinds of their baked goods then we went to try and find a spot to sit down and eat them so we made our way through the back of the busy public market and

Headed over to the picturesque outdoor dining area that was filled with picnic tables overlooking false and the gorgeous Vancouver skyline what an exceptional place to enjoy the summer weather and eat our sweet treats we just had to be sure to watch out for the seagulls after we found a spot to sit

Down on a bench we began to dig into our suets starting with this massive Cindy pastry which I believe is some type of huge honey glazed cinnamon Fritter the Cindy pastry was very fresh and tasty and it was so big we weren’t able to finish it in one sitting my mom decided

To get this gigantic raspberry Fritter which was glazed and filled with pockets of gooey Raspberry Jelly Mike chose to get a few of Lee’s Classic Donuts starting with the sugarcoated Jelly Donut which was filled with lots of raspberry jam Mike also had the buttercrunch doughnut with a crunchy

Vanilla topping as well as the chocolate glaze dut which is dipped in their famous honey glaze both tasted great our favorites were the Cindy and the raspberry Fritter they were a really good value the donuts were pretty good too and we had lots of leftovers to take

Home with us the next place is one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver called East is East they serve a diverse Eastern menu ranging from Afghan to Tibetan flavors we were given some complimentary soy chai as soon as we walked in then we were shown to our

Table for our lunch reservation in their warm and rustic dining room which had lots of wood finishes and these nice carpets adorning the walls in our opinion the design of the restaurant’s interior was quite charming and very relaxed especially with these super unique wooden tables and chairs in the

Middle after we checked out the menu and sipped on our free soy chai drinks my mom ordered the fullsize soy chai tea with Masala chai organic soy milk and green tea and Tom and I both got the Lone Tree dry cider to drink then we all ordered the chai Feast special it’s

Their signature tasting menu and to begin it’s served with your choice of any two main dishes soup and salad and also comes with bulani sauerkraut and Afghan and basmati rice that price is for lunch during the week Monday to Friday and goes up to $29 per person for

Weekend lunches it was really tasty and a fantastic value and when you finish your first plate you can then order as many other dishes as you like which is included in the price our favorites were the mango chicken the chicken masala the spinach paneer the bulani and the Alo

GOI although we really enjoyed every dish that we tried here $21 is an exceptional price for an all you can eat meal in Vancouver but let’s keep going to a Cambodian and Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown called nen it’s very reasonably priced considering it has a Michelin bib mward so it’s no surprise

That it usually has a lineup before it opens we made sure to arrive 15 minutes before it opened so that we could get a table and good thing we did because within a few minutes the restaurant was already full to begin our lunch we were served some complimentary tea then they

Brought out the marinated butter beef it has thinly sliced specially prepared rare beef with a bed of fried garlic cilantro and a house special sauce as well as the buncha Geo with Vietnamese rice vermicelli spring rolls and peanuts both the buncha Geo and the marinated butter beef were very tasty next we had

The large nen deep fried chicken wings which were incredible and came with a Delicious lemon pepper sauce as well as the Bon Quan Vietnamese steamed rolls with lettuce Sprouts Vietnamese ham and fish sauce for our sixth dish we got the filet beef lookl on rice with egg EG and

Stir-fried beef seasoned perfectly I love the Bon Kuan dish but Mike preferred the filet beef look like and the chicken wings which are both house Specialties for our final dish we ordered the giant Bono which is a crispy crepe filled with shrimp sliced and minced pork sprouts and beans I

Attempted to wrap the Bono up in a lettuce leaf similar to the way we did in Vietnam although in Vietnam we used rice papers I’m not sure how we were supposed to do it here but it was still pretty tasty even though I made a mess

This dish was Hefty and any one of these dishes could have been a meal all by itself so we definitely ordered way too much food well we hope you enjoyed our Vancouver cheap Beats food tour if you did please like And subscribe and check out our Vancouver Michelin food tour and
