Kagoshima to Okinawa 25-hour ferry trip. Via 4 southern islands. Please watch! Here is the statue of Takamori Saigo, a hero of Kagoshima. We start the trip from Kagoshima. Let’s take a bus from Kagoshima Chuo Station. We go through the Sakurajima exit. East 5 bus stop. Bound for Kagoshima shinko, at 4:30 p.m.
The fare is $1.4. 20 minutes. This is the route of our trip. We will go through 5 ports to Naha. Magnificent Sakurajima. First, the embarkation procedure. Fill out the boarding application form. Operated by Marix Line and A-Line Ferry. Out again to see Sakurajima. Self-defense vehicles and riders also waiting to board.
A large number of containers are also loaded. Shops at the terminal. And here we go. The name of the ship is “Queen Coral Cross.” This is a new ship entering service in 2021. Here is the inside of the ship. Escalator to the 3rd floor lobby. It’s a new ship, so it’s beautiful.
The cabins are on the 3rd and 4th floors. Pick up the room key at the information desk. Fourth floor will follow later. This time I booked a 1st class single room. Well, let’s see what the room looks like. Looks great! Compact and well organized! The floor pattern is “blue sea wave”.
The window is large so the view is clear. the curtains closed. What is this wooden box? It’s a tea set. Refrigerator and chair under desk. And further back… Life vest. Hm, what’s this? Why one screw? Mattress is slightly thinner. Indoor clothes are separated into top and bottom.
Light switch and electrical outlet at the bedside. Reading light dimmable. Pads on wall. Can I hit my head when the boat shakes? This is a wiring box. The TV can be angled. I’m glad the private air conditioner. We can open and close the vent under the door.
And we can call to the information desk. This is a toilet and washroom. It’s nice and new. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Enough features and space for one person. We’re about to leave. Let’s go out on deck. It’s completely dark. A large deck with a good view. 6:00 p.m. We’re leaving! Kagoshima port moving away.
It is too dark to see Sakurajima clearly. Once back on board. We will go through 5 ports to Naha. Beer is $2 for 350 ml. We need our driver’s license to purchase it. Buy beer and go to the restaurant. Chairs are tightly secured. The menu is mainly set menus.
Looks like a school or company cafeteria. Grilled fish set meal, $5.4. Delicious! After eating, return the dishes. Let’s take a look at the concession stand. Lunch boxes are limited in quantity. Kyushu sweet soy sauce. Many types of alcohol. Various original products. Amenities available for purchase. T-shirts and polo shirts. Matching sailor.
And cookies and crackers. Here we are in the shower room. The interior is also new and clean. And the shampoos are by L’Occitane! It smelled so good! Don’t take it home (haha). Narrow… Blower vent in ceiling. We can adjust the airflow volume and direction. We’re almost through Kinko’s Bay.
Our first port of call is Amami Oshima. We can see the lights of Ibusuki in the distance. A little bit of shochu… I had it with smoked chicken fillet. After 11:00 p.m., we passed Yakushima Island. Good night. Well, it’s a little before 5:00 a.m.
We’ve arrived at the port of Nase on Amami Oshima. Amami Oshima has a population of about 60,000. It is one of the larger islands in Japan. We anchor here for 50 minutes. Containers in and out one after another. Well, let’s have breakfast. Those lunches are for the sailors? Morning set meal $5.
It is still dark outside. 5:50 a.m. Departure from Amami Oshima. Next port of call is Tokunoshima. Gradually dawn breaks. Boat heads southwest. The sunrise was so beautiful. Now let’s take a look around the ship. There are many private rooms, and large shared rooms. This is the lobby on the 3rd floor.
Here is 2nd class sleeper A. Lots of bunk beds. Ceiling is low, so it may be oppressive. This staircase leads to the bed above. The curtains closed. It is important with or without windows. The shower room is same? No l’Occitane! Here’s the lobby again. Drinking water is free. Sinks can be used
Valuables locker Stamp to commemorate embarkation. Wifi connection is not very good. I will introduce the special room later. Kids room is here. Little kids can play in peace. The animals and fish are pretty. Amami rabbit. Let’s look at the 2nd class bunks. Each room is named after a port of call.
This is “Yoron”. This is a large shared room. We should be fun if used by a group. Large luggage can go here. Mattresses, blankets, and hangers. This is space for one person. If it’s full, it’s pretty cramped. If only a few passengers, it could be comfortable. we can rest in many places.
Animals and fish here, too Self-Defense Force people on board as well. View seats in the direction of travel. You can see containers and cranes. The communal toilets are new and clean. Lots of toilet paper. Coin lockers are $2.5 for large, $1.5 for small. Baby room available. Barrier-free restroom. Soon to be Tokunoshima.
Throwing a rope at the tip of the boat. It’s far away, but it’s arrived! This work, always brilliant and impressive! People work together. the stairs of the ship have been lowered. Waiting for there father? They load and unload. A mysterious half-open container. The forklifts work well. It’s like a precision machine.
They finish their work in the limited time. Passengers board and disembark. This is a container for livestock. Tokunoshima is famous for bullfighting. A crane also loads and unloads cargo. Viewed from the view sheet. This rest area is… Priority seating. 9:40 a.m. Departure from Tokunoshima. I have never landed on Tokunoshima.
I would like to visit this island someday. The boat trip to Naha is yet to come! Tokunoshima island is moving away from us. The wake was beautiful. Now back to the room. The fixture for the electric kettle is unique. Brewing a cup of tea. Next port of call is Okinoerabu Island.
Normally, the port of call is Wadomari Port. This time it was changed to Inobe Port. Let’s have lunch. Beef bowl, $4. Ports of call often change due to weather and other reasons. You can see the waiting area. There is a roof but no walls. Takamori Saigo landed from this port. Noon. Departure.
The ocean water is clear. Beautiful southern island. Okinoerabu Island in the distance. Blue sea and wide sky. Tea in the room again. Well, our next port of call is Yoron Island. We can see it now. Population 5,000, a small coral reef island. The winter sea tends to be rough, but it’s beautiful weather.
The berthing operations are underway. Long rope! Stairs are lowered. That’s quite a maneuver! They are youth baseball team. And new passengers. Young baseball players are having a meeting. Where were they traveling to? Plastic bottles and glass bottles are recycled off island. 2:10 p.m. Departure from Yoron Island.
There are no mountains because it is a coral island. They are probably the Self-Defense Forces. They are waving their hands. Who are they waving to? There’s a fisherman in that place. Ah! They are waving over there. And the car wipers! I became very interested in Yoron Island. Good bye!
Next stop is Motobu Port on the main island of Okinawa. It’s now 3:00 p.m. Bread and coffee from the kiosk. The main island of Okinawa is bigger than the other islands. When it’s this close, you can get a cell phone signal. The sun is about to set.
The direction of the sunset changes as the ship turns. It was quite windy. A lot of ships call at this port. A-Line ferry’s “Gusuku”. Gusuku means castle. Throwing a rope. It reaches well. Seems to work differently in different ports. Motobu has been a prosperous port town for a long time. The Gusuku departs.
Is it coming this way? It went that way… From Motobu Port to Ie Island, 9 km offshore. Passengers get on and off here as well, Passenger walking near forklift. Is he saying, “It’s not safe over here.” That’s very generous. It must be hard when it rains, It was a peaceful scene.
5:10 p.m. Departure from Motobu Port. Bathing in the setting sun. Next port is finally Naha. The setting sun sinks into the sea. It was breathtaking. A few minutes before the sun sets… For me, it was the most beautiful sight of the trip. Please watch uncut for about a minute.
The sun has completely set. We are nearing the end of our trip. Let’s get ready to disembark. 6:30 p.m. It’s completely dark. A little further up the estuary. The lights of Naha are quite exciting. The last rope throw. The big long throw! Another one! 7:00 p.m. Arrive at Naha Port. Let’s disembark.
It was a pleasant 25-hour trip. Especially I love the private room! I got to see the special room. It’s very spacious. Farewell to the animals and fish. Going down the escalator. Comfortable trip, thank you. We usually come to Okinawa by plane. It’s nice to take a slow ferry trip. Queen coral cross!
I’d love to get on it again sometime. 10 minute walk to Asahibashi station on the monorail. That’s a SDF truck! Thanks for the mission! Okinawa Urban Monorail Nicknamed “Yui Rail”. Good bye from Asahibashi station.

We have many ferries all over Japan. In The USA, they are basically non-existent. Thank you for taking us along on your trip
I'd rather take a ferry than a plane any day. Airports are so crowded. I always feel rushed when I'm using them. And planes are uncomfortable and cramped.
Really enjoyed this video.

It's odd realizing some of Japan's ferries are smaller. After many videos I've seen, I was beginning to wonder if they were all huge. This is the smallest I've seen in a video. The United States only has a few ferries on the coast, and none as nice as any in Japan. We really don't have many trains either. Our choices for travel are to fly or drive. The ferries and trains seem so peaceful compared to what's available here.

Adorei o passeio. Obrigada. Abraço desde Porto Alegre, Brasil
Thank you for taking us with you on a ferry trip. Does MARIX Line compete directly with Maru-A Ferry (A"Line) in the Kagoshima-Okinawa line?
I COULD HAVE GONE TO OKINAWA,WHEN I MARRIED MY FIRST HUSBAND AND IN SOME WAY'S IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT I DIDN'T GO,AS I HAD TO GET HOME TO THE UK IN 1989 , AFTER I HAD TO HAVE CHOLESTECTOMY , AFTER MY DAUGHTER AND I ABUSED BY MY FIRST HUSBAND! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE OKINAWA! AS I CAN'T DO IT PHYSICALLY, MAYBE THROUGH YOU! I LOVE JAPAN AND IT'S PEOPLE ! IT HAS MEANT A LOT FOR ME TO SEE BEAUTIFUL OKINAWA! IT WAS AN AMERICAN BASE WE WOULD HAVE BEEN STATIONED AT MEANING POSSIBLY NO CHANCE AT ALL TO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE CULTURE AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE BAR WHAT I LEARNED FROM MY JUDO INSTRUCTOR FROM JAPAN!

Very good. I love the sunset. The one minute – great idea!
I subscribed and watched your video very well. The ferry was recently built, so it looks clean and safe. I guess the price is reasonable, but I think that sometimes traveling long distances by ferry can be romantic compared to taking an airplane. By comparing the video with the Google map, I was able to quickly understand the overall picture of travel.
These are relaxing to watch after a stressful day before bed. I like to imagine I'm there on the ferry alone enjoying the moment. I should book a ferry across the Adriatic (that's where I live) just to experience a day and a night on sea. ⛴
Hi, the french subtitles appears in german…
Danke für das Video 👍👍👍
Mantap,,, kapan kita ikut pesiar pake kapal ini,,,
The "tip of the boat" is called the bow, BTW. The back part is the stern. left side is port, right side is starboard. the middle of the ship is midships. Ropes are called "lines". When they are docking the ship, they are "tying the lines off" to keep the ship docked so it won't drift off the dock. FYI.
Please tell me there is no bullfighting in Japan, i will be very disappointed if you say yes because many tourists may change their plans for that island, we do not want a repeat of dolphin slaughter tradition being raised again
Thank-you for taking us along. Beautiful
the wall pads above the bed is for you to sit up watching TV.
Wunderschön ❤. Vielen Dank…
I went all the way down to Ishigaki–by plane, not ferry, But, from there, I did take the ferries/jet-cats to Taketomi and Hateruma. It was beautiful down there. And it was very interesting being the only gaijin on the island! Everyone made me sing karaoke.
Hi! I will be taking this ferry in a couple months and I had some questions if it's ok. How much money is first class tickets? Do I need to book a ferry ticket in advance or can I just show up at the terminal and buy one? Does it leave at the same time every day? I will be travelling from fukuoka to kagoshima in the day, and then hopefully getting on the ferry in the evening. I'm nervous that I will miss it and need to book a hotel in kagoshima. Thank you for sharing your video 🙂
