I tried the brand new Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen from Nagasaki to Takeo-Onsen. It’s the shortest distance Shinkansen in Japan.

Nossa que lindo
Scenery or speed? The more often I travel to a given destination, the more I will tilt towards speed. For example, I don't want to see the sights on my way to work, I just want to get there and get it over with.
I wonder how long someone could work in that station, hearing ‘bing bong’ every few seconds, before they would go on a crazy murder rampage
I love your videos!
Well, not every video goes perfectly! Sometimes you get full trains and walls! Great video none the less 😊
i prefer scenery to speed. i love looking out the window and seeing everything. the ekiben looked sooooo goood!!! i would've bought a couple more for the trip lol.
It's never too short to enjoy an ekiben! — even if it was between one train and the next, haha!
Got to try the Kamome Shinkansen for the first time two weeks ago too. JR Kyushu has done a really nice job all round. Going to try Gran Class for the first time tomorrow, can’t wait!
Scenery.
I like speed and a quiet train, scenery is the least of my concerns.
The shinkansen was beautiful, but I prefer seeing the scenery to walls. Thank you, btw, for all of your videos. I've been to Japan twice, but only to Tokyo, Nara, and Kyoto, and that was years ago. It's unlikely I'll be able to afford to go again, but at least I can watch your videos and dream…
That ding always sparks joy
Crap Japan is so clean and organised. What is the max speed of this train on this track… Thank you hopefully we see more of this beautifull trips

I've found that most bathrooms in Japan don't have soap or hand towels. Always carry a small towel or handkerchief and hand sanitizer with you. Most restroom don't have trash cans either.
I'd always choose scenery over speed, but then I'm retired so don't need to hurry. A great view is one of the benefits of train travel over flying (not to mention the greater comfort). Our trip from Sydney takes 50 minutes by air on Qantas, and 7 and a half hours by train, but we choose the train trip when we can!
Scenery wins everytime
I prefer scenery/views.
Thank you STJ.
Thats the first full train in Japan, on YouTube for ages! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
BYOS: bring your own soap 😸
Well there is also Tokyo Shinagawa except you cannot get off.
Hi, did you need to buy separate tickets since you exited the station at Takeo-Onsen?
I guess the walls are to reduce the noise to the people who live beside the railway, but it means you don't get scenery.
I like how the Shinkansen in Kyushu looks like a club house, or occasionally a club house bath…
Thank you.
Few routes really need to go so fast – it's arguable that your travel today would have cost half as much just traveling by normal train, and only taken 15 minutes longer – depending on stops.
Someone was in your reserved seat? Wow!
I love train travel and the best train experiences I've had were in Japan.
I did this journey a few years ago and it was totally different. I love the look of the new Shinkansen and renovated station.
Does anyone know if this shinkansen is included in the JR Railpass?
I prefer scenery! Nice trainride!
The bento box looks great!
Shinkansen look so space age
I live in Arizona and the houses here are sooooo boring. I love seeing the different types of houses in Japan and how they go from traditional styling right next to something that looks like additions were added and then added some more, and then a little more was added and then you see something completely modern right down the street from that – so interesting!
And here I always thought Japanese travel accommodations were always ghost towns. I see people! ≽ܫ≼
It sucks to only see walls, however Japanese do this because they don’t want to disturb people who live near Shinkansen Tracks. The walls are actually sound dampeners. Shinkansen is super quiet so why? It’s just a formality they need to do to reassure the people where the Shinkansen passes through.
The sound dampening wall will get higher. There are plans to increase Shinkansen speed. The increased speed will create more noise thus JR has been increasing the height of these walls. I guess speed has always been the focus of Shinkansen rather than views.
The only areas that don’t have these walls are in remote areas where noise is not an issue.

The shortest Shinkansen ride i ever did was Shin-yokohama to Tokyo, and that was cause i had a live gig to go to and i totally forgot about it and was all the way in Yokohama haha; it was just 12 minutes ! I made my concert in time 😀
