Japanese people around Japan and he interviewed like he asked the young like working generation of Japan uh if they should open up Japan and then older seniors they should open up Japan and like all the seniors were like no we should stay closed but uh

Which I get because we came back to the US and it was completely different thing when it came to masks and such yeah I know I I hear it’s still different I mean Japan still wears masks Japan’s always wore masks so you know like if somebody

Has a cold or a flu like it’s mask season everybody in the wintertime wears masks oh the Pokemon man whole thing yeah I noticed that yeah the manhole covers for the sewers are all oh Bernard that’s gonna be so exciting for you to visit are you sure this is

It always surprises me when uh people who are not Okinawan I’m even including Japanese people on this that like Goya because Goya is a very acquired taste I don’t think I didn’t start liking it until like two years ago we just drove through the mountain guys never been down that road

Ooh look at that view in the distance I don’t know if you guys can even make it out but you’re actually holding your breath you can breathe out Bernard it all out all out they do have Taco Bell on base Sean but crap it it’s really bad it’s like unbelievably bad yeah like

You know I thought that I was like maybe Taco Bell’s not as great because I’ve been here eating the good food I actually so I just came back from uh America I went for two months uh in December and January I was in California and Oregon and Washington whole West Coast

And uh Taco Bell is really good it’s it’s definitely a noticeable difference in quality do you ever have hair poke your armpit when you’re trying to get it but it’s like invades you if you’re trying to grasp on it oh yeah all the time every day I’m surprised you even mentioned it

I don’t think that’s possible 58 is pretty windy I also love the Daiso song which one’s that I don’t remember that one either attack even though there are thousands of the same fast food restaurant I think it comes down to quality of workers putting

It together yeah I agree with that too especially a lot of the fast food chains are franchised and depending on the owners like it’s on the quality hey Judy no I don’t I don’t know if I like Yet but are in the 50 bypass so Route 58 was out to the left of us this is the bypass and I didn’t mean to get on the bypass but this bypass takes us uh well it’s the 58 it’s just the main route yeah I think you could share it Judy I

Yeah I guess Mongoose is not native to Okinawa they brought him here like years ago to control the Habu population and they just kind of took over yeah they’re kind of destructive uh we don’t have the appeal business at the moment where is it we’re going

Uh we’re just going north right now I’m just heading us heading taking us towards uh where it’s uh Nago Riley’s gonna go to Namo City from there I’m not sure I mean we can go to uh we could go to uh that one Island in Nago City

Can you call out towns or passing through so we know where you are yeah we were we were in Ona Village for the longest time we’re hit we’re in Kyoto right now right before Nago City but we’re about to hit Nago in fact uh all right have a good night Joe burps

Our capetto we’re not going to Cape hedo but we are headed in that direction We almost seen that uh Nago is thought of as like Northern Okinawa oh yeah but it’s like the ocean it’s not actually It’s like three-fourths of the way up I would say yeah or no no it’s like halfway up there’s still a lot of islands left to just the front is probably a better View now so they changed the street a little bit this is 58. yeah this is right before

You hit Nago this is technically what they call Kilda yeah they added some this is right after the expressway this is the last Expressway point in the North there’s some ridges and stuff right yeah they well they added a bridge to go to a tunnel looks like they’re still

Doing construction here yeah I think they’re opening the road because of how busy it gets here make it it’s such a bottleneck for uh for this area yeah they need to get the monorail or something out here yeah that’s probably not gonna happen I mean even if there’s like no stops

Between here and there ‘ll still be helpful I think you know I remember going on rail in Tokyo and I was thinking man this is what a monorail system should be is Okinawa used to have a train system but it got destroyed in the war and it’s unfortunate they didn’t think to rebuild

It or keep it because that would have actually been really nice to have at least like a state like a train rail still laid out because then you could have built a lot of like oh yeah we can go on this bypass if you want so it was supposed to dance

Most people remember I think so we I don’t know if you guys can see it but there’s Nago City in the distance yeah this is a new bypass here and we’re still inside it goes straight through the mountain to kind of like the the back side of

Nago instead of going all the way around yeah it cuts through and saves a lot of time so now that we’re back doing this what are some of the things you guys want to see where do you guys want us to go I mean the last time we did this the year

That we did this we went to a lot of different places um but is there something specific you guys want to see you guys want us to revisit uh I do have a Japanese license Chelsea and was it hard to get uh I was the only one

That passed the test out of like 40 people there yeah because no one studying they’re all like I could drive I’ll pass the test like you don’t understand they want you to do things that you wouldn’t do well yeah that’s the thing that most people don’t understand and the guy explained

It too in Japanese but obviously he was speaking to a room full of people who don’t speak Japanese so nobody understood but um in Japan they don’t just look at if you can drive they look at so many things like are you checking the mirrors are you checking are you looking right and

Left before you before you move forward how far away You’re parked from this curve like there’s a lot of things that they check and you also have to vocalize things as you’re doing it you have to be like I’m looking right I’m looking left I’m looking in the mirror

And if you don’t do that they won’t let you pass but most people don’t know that my dad ended up having to take that driver’s test like I don’t know like five or six times before they actually gave him his license Chris is like I thought it was 24 people

No it was 60. what I just said I think it was about 150 150 people tried and then Matt was able to go in the past no I actually have no I think it’s maybe like 30. yeah I think it was about 30 people it was a good

Of people see Nago as North but it’s really like yeah it’s like the upper middle it’s like it’s more or less the middle of the island I mean universities well that’s considered Central Okinawa but it’s like Way South compared to the rest of the island I’ll show you I guess like

Ona ish is like the middle actually it’s still a little harder than that yes Brian messaged me Man Are there many Americans in Nago um not as much as probably the bottom half of the island but I mean Schwab is up here I would assume there’s less but there is Schwab so it’s not completely void of Americans for military yeah we haven’t done an underwater thing

Really recommend it it is one of my favorite islands for sure there’s a zoo up that way that might be nail Park that you’re talking about yeah it’s like one of my favorite Parks it has a train it is it it is a zoo sorry buddy I’m drinking some of your water

But it’s also it’s like a bird sanctuary thing mainly mostly Birds but they have other animals you know we could do that we could do a tour with my kid the bus I think that would be awesome maybe we could talk to Brian about it we

Could be like Brian you want to go in on doing a tour Okinawa tour that could be event an event we planned they have a train there to expand their yeah right they can expand that train all over uh the rest of Okinawa yeah we did do it live there a while ago

It’s been so long how long is the flight uh Matt would know for sure I just did it uh it’s two hours and 55 minutes from Tokyo to Okinawa and then I don’t know where you’re at in States but depending on where you are uh San Francisco to Tokyo was um

It was 11 hours I want to say or 12 11 or 12 something like that well it really depends on the uh depends on the um to airport in Tokyo too I think if you’re in if you’re coming from haneda it’s only a two-hour flight but Narita

I’m pretty sure this is the newest video and this one so they’ve been changing the quarantine rules when I booked my flight back in December it was 14 days and then in mid-December they changed it to 10 days and then like the day before I left it got changed to seven days

But I think it might be shorter now or is it still I don’t even know if it’s still quarantined we still quarantined but what was nice is that because I’m a Japanese citizen they paid for six of the seven days of my stay in a hotel

You can’t leave the hotel but they bring you um breakfast lunch and dinner they just put it outside your door nice especially the trip was really hectic with uh I was trying to do a lot of things see a lot of people and uh buddy was the hardest thing there was so

Much paperwork and so much red tape so many problems I ran into so it’s a lot of stress yeah I’m pretty sure so it was nice to just forced to stay in a hotel for seven days and not leave I’m pretty sure in the course of five years or three years that we’ve

Been trying to get this oh we’re just passing nail park by the way I think in the course of three years we’ve been trying to get this dog on the island it’s cost about five thousand dollars to get the stock here and this is just a just a warning for

Anybody who wants to bring their animal he’s here it is it is it’s a costly thing you’re right Chris that was your story I remember it after I said it this dog Chris went in there when it was not open they were like stocking shelves or something and him

And his friend went in um they didn’t say anything to him or they did eventually I guess but what he tried to check out this dog is a worth this is a 12 year old pomeranian that’s worth five thousand dollars I’m bed oh yeah we probably paid

I don’t know like if we were to include all our ticket prices and everything for this dog yeah yeah easily over five grand to get him here the cheapest thing was actually his flight ticket it was only like 400 yeah 400 for his flight from San Francisco to Tokyo but all the

Russia is that’s the actual tickets yeah the vet bills and everything was you know it doesn’t help too because uh I did it all where he was he was staying at my parents house in San Jose California which uh is like literally pretty much the most expensive place in like all the United

States so the vets and stuff were like outrageous compared to where we were taking them yeah my friend was telling me because she just moved back to uh California then she got a dog while she was there and unfortunately her dog got sick and he’s fine now but

They ended up the dog ended up getting sick so they ended up having to take the take the dog to a vet out of state because California’s prices are ridiculous yeah for those of you that are on the West Coast uh it’d be expensive I was like it was expensive when I left

But after all this Cove and stuff and then going back I was just like in shock of how much things work people think Japan is expensive I’m like nah no way I mean Okinawa is the cheapest place in Japan but even in Tokyo it was like Dirt Cheap compared to California I

Ended up having to spend 24 hours in Tokyo when I was picking up buddy because they were going to quarantine Matt in fact some things cost less money because they have to import them to okidawa yeah I was like I was expecting to pay a lot more a little bit more for

Food but the food prices were actually pretty comparable to it was like the same I thought yeah it was I was like oh Tokyo Nook this is not that expensive but I don’t know I have I I mean spending as long as we did in California I think

Yeah I watched this YouTuber that lives in like uh Shinjuku Tokyo or something and he did a it’s like my monthly expenses video and his one bedroom apartment was like 800 a month and there was a lot of people in chat that were like wow Japan’s so expensive that’s crazy

And some people were even like that’s just like California and then The Californians come in and they’re like no it’s not 800 a month for a one bedroom in California please that’s like twenty five hundred dollars a month okay what are you talking about twenty five hundred dollars a month for a one

Bedroom studio apartment uh my friend owns a house in San Jose and um he rents out a couple of the rooms and this room one room that he rents out it’s like the smallest room I’ve ever seen you could like barely fit a maybe a queen size bed and that’s like
