I’m taking a special train in Niigata Japan. It’s called Koshino Shu*Kura.
It’s operated by JR East.
Niigata is famous for its rice and sake.

  1. I feel a bit ignorant, for some reason I thought sake was served warm. I really enjoyed this video and learned a lot. Miso gelato might sound odd, but I would think it was savory to complement the sweet sake. Have to admit I got a bit of second hand tipsy… lol

  2. After one serving of sake, I'm usually incredibly drunk. I can't imagine having so much, let alone on a moving train haha! But you made it all look good πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

  3. I'm from Sturgis SD….kinda cowboy. Can I get Rumplemint and steaks over there?
I'm selling out come Fall and I'm a traveling πŸ™πŸ’žπŸ˜Ž

  4. I am in awe. You had to be pretty wasted when you walked back from the bar car with the last two sakes and you didn’t spill a drop.

  5. Hello!!! Thanks for sharing this train experience. Adding it to my travel wish list!

  6. Loved the tour, but go easy on the sake. Watching this from my nightshift at alcohol rehab, and hate to see anything bad happen to you do to too much consumption

  7. I was thinking, how dose it come that regions or cities are famous for something… Is it like… A historical thing, developed out of the resources they had, or is it more like a marketing thing (or maybe both), dose every region/city has it?

  8. I have never seen the sake cup inside a box before, that is so cool! I also have never tried sake with salt. Now I want to find both.

  9. Really enjoy your videos and always wondered…how did all this start? Do you travel as a job? Like a travel reviewer, etc?

  10. Thank you for taking this old lady on another interesting trip. This is just the thing I would enjoy. Eating, drinking and then going home. The scenery was beautiful. From NC, USA

  11. I was half expecting you to say β€œ I had to book into a hotel room after getting off the Sake train to sleep it off β€œπŸ˜‚

  12. I'm very eager to visit Japan once the travel restrictions have been officially lifted, this channel has inspired me to visit this beautiful country through various means!

  13. I hear the two little beeps at the start of your videos and just relax. It is a great segue telling me I'm in for an interesting and relaxing few minutes with minimal voices, wonderful views and tempting food!

  14. Take you very much for taking us with you on your sake trip. I am now so tempted to go on the same trip.

  15. The snowy scenery in springtime Echigo looks so idyllic. It's probably the heavy snowfall preventing services in the winter, like STJ guessed.

  16. Hmmmm you know what would be nice, a service where you can eat and drink as much as you like for as long as you like, and they make sure you wake up in your own bed some day.

  17. Echoing many of the other comments here, that was an epic battle to stay on top of all that sake, you did extremely well. My drinking habits have mellowed with age but I have to admit that this video did make me go and pour a glass of aged Scotch malt whisky to enjoy whilst watching.

  18. I enjoyed this very much. I'm very adventurous when it comes to food but I'm not sure I would enjoy my eggs so undercooked, though I know it is the custom there. Have watched many of your videos and like them all. Wonderful, beautiful country, sorry I will never be able to travel there

  19. Here I am riding on the Iiyama line from Echigo-Kawaguchi to get to this train in Tokamachi. If you want to use the JR rail pass to get there it takes a few more steps. But I am able to see some parts of Japan that many tourists don’t so I’m thankful for that. And thankful to STJ to showing me so many wonderful things in Japan.

  20. To those who are understood in the world of sake; Is there some type of sake that has a low graduation? It's to start trying. Thank you so much
