  3. It was great to meet you on Tuesday at Epcot Tom & Company!!
Thanks for taking the time for a picture and for putting up with my extra personality lol 🙃😂
    Happy Holidays all! 🎄🎁🥂
    Go Eagles 🦅🏈

  4. Tom, Disney just needs to market the cabins right. If they called them what they are, "Shipping Containers in the Forest", your expectations would be met. Maybe exceeded. But as of now, it's just deceptive marketing.

  5. The high windows on the new cabins will certainly restrict views. I agree the bedroom looks…fine.

  6. During 1 of your podcasts you talked about 3rd party vendors hawking tshirts & minnie ears in Shanghai & how it cheapened the park experience- these 'guides' are stepping over the line. (Would these guides accept responsibility for their guests if they were injured on one of these tours? No they wouldnt.) Disney shouldve never allowed this-

  7. I don’t mind the look of the cabin on the outside. The old style just looked like a mobile home to me so shipping container doesn’t seem like much of a change. HOWEVER, as a DVC owner with a billion points, no washer and dryer is an absolute deal killer.

  8. Regarding the pins, which I really like, it strikes me odd that each uses the park central icon, but studios icon is the attraction Tower of Terror. I know they've been using ToT. It just seems an odd choice to me not to use the park's central "hub" Chinese theatre.

Completely agree on the Ft. Wilderness "cabins." Doesn't feel at all like you're in the woods or "wilderness." It feels like proof theming. (Who approved that?) I personally prefer the old.

  9. What a third party tour guide is doing is not the equivalent of selling coffee at Starbucks. It’s the equivalent of someone sitting in Starbucks and charging people to help them order coffee. I don’t have a problem with the third party tour guides as long as they aren’t abusing access want for the handicapped but I also don’t have a problem with Disney banning it because it is their private property.

  10. Those are not cabins. Those are modern trailers.

But I love the way the bedroom looks. I’m going to set the guest room in my house up like that.

  11. I really want to know when will Walt Disney World start to be Walt Disney World again? It is a nostalgic theme park, there’s no getting around that. The over reliance on outside everything (except when it encroaches on their profits) is ridiculous! Walt Disney World used to be THE vacation destination, there was no comparison. Now, they’re just another theme park and it’s sad.

My family bought into DVC thinking that Walt’s vision would continue into the future…and it did, for less than 10 years. There are very few people working at Disney that understand the immeasurable value of repeat business. I can only hope that this changes before it’s too late to turn around.

  12. Regarding the 3rd party tour guides—-Perhaps if Disney hadn’t made Genie + so blooming complicated and the Disney VIP tours so expensive, there wouldn’t have been a market for this. 🤷🏻‍♀️Just saying

  13. No warnings, just a straight up ban. I get they're a private company and can do as they please, but this looks like another black eye in a year of multiple black eyes for Disney.

  14. As a Grandparent who has been bringing our Handicapped Granddaughter who is confined to a wheelchair with Cereabal Palsey to Disney World since 2010 I have seen the changes over the years with getting her a disability pass. Disney has made it more difficult for us to get her one with stating a few times that her disability doesn't qualify for one and I had to get a supervisor to get her one. I also witnessed a cast member giving a disability pass to an adult male with a broken ankle in a rented wheelchair while denying my Granddaughter who was in her own personal wheelchair. and had to call for a supervisor. The Fort Wilderness Campground is the only place we have ever stayed and love it there in both our camper when we could get a camping spot and the Handicap cabins. As for the new DVC cabins I am not a fan of their new design. They just don't fit the theming of the campground. Disney missed the mark with them. However I do like the layout of the bedroom with the bed and bunk beds.

  15. I know it’s super late in the week. But what are the chances you could have haymaker walk into the set during taping with a folding chair and table and start a Parks News show behind you ????

  16. Tom, I have an interesting Dick Nunis story for you. As an Imagineer, I had the privilege of escorting Dick on a tour of The Great Movie Ride. He was a crotchety no nonsense guy for sure and cut through any and all BS. He complained about a number of things he saw during the tour, echoing what I had been fighting over with execs within the company and so we sat down together to map out a plan. That was when I expressed my concern about the direction Michael Eisner was taking things and why we needed somebody like Bob Iger to come in and take over the reigns. Dick agreed and so we hatched out a plan to do just that, luring Iger from ABC to lead Disney into the new era. It was Dick’s last major mark on the future of Disney before he retired.

  17. I believe WDW would like to ban vloggers, who are making lots of money off the theme parks without paying for their usage, but a ban like that would be almost impossible to enforce, what with all the tourists shooting their own videos.

  18. You want a seat at the table, apply and become a cast member. “No one thought this would happen” as they cannibalize the offerings that the Mouse expects people to pay them for, and handsomely? Sounds like failed business planning to me because how could you not know that eventually they’d catch on and prevent you from siphoning off some of their money and business? SMH

  19. You don’t get to make money on the back of another business $$$ Disney should offer a more reasonable rate for their tours.
Now let’s talk about vloggers who annoy guests while in the parks and on rides with the lights and cameras.
And figure out a better DAS system. One that is not so easily abused.

  20. 1:03 – "I'm not some criminal". No, but ethical practices are still recommended. Just because you figured out how to game the system doesn't mean the system doesn't learn how to shut off your game. Try that in a Vegas casino and see how long your legs go unbroken. Unpopular opinion but I'm sort of glad to hear these tours are being stopped. The only add fuel to the fire, they're not some clever workaround. These tour guides think they're in a 90's Mentos commercial, getting away with sketchy stuff and thinking they're clever.

  21. The thing I can’t work out with the cabins is why, given their location, Disney feels that a metal box presents ‘sustainability’ as opposed to simply a stain on the landscape. Surely a more cohesive approach would be to build or clad them in wood (mega sustainable) then at least they’re sympathetic to the environment they inhabit. If Tron is anything to go by the paint will be falling off the metal inside 6 months.

  22. The new cabin picture looks awful. The bedroom looks ok, better bunk beds. I hate the current ones as an adult who has to sleep on them.

  23. I hope the beds in the new Fantasy Spring hotel are more comfortable than the other Tokyo Disney hotels. That was the one and only complaint we have with Tokyo Disney. The beds were like sleeping on plywood. Maybe it’s their culture, but definitely not like our hotels.

  24. When is Disney going to stop online third party ticket scalpers of special events?
Disney SOLD OUT of "Oogie Boogie Bash" quickly, but you could still find tickets online from resellers at TRIPLE the cost.

  25. The whole idea of Fort Wilderness was to camp or be in a log cabin and have that kind of rustic experience, so without the log beams incorporated it dethemes the cabins to look like modern tiny homes. At least put logs around it, not siding.

  26. If they delete the campground, I will flip tables! That is one of the cheapest ways to stay at Disney and is a unique experience, and in the seventies we did that. It was amazing. Disney stop doing whale stuff and think of the minnows and how many of them there are that support you.

  27. Since you switch covering all parks and may talk about a park in Florida and then one in California without denoting you switched. You should color code the parks and when you are talking about. Florida can have the blue one and say California have a yellow one and if they are multiple parks then stack the watermarks and colors on the right hand lower side. So, if California and Florida and say France offers the same snack, there would be a stack of blue yellow and say red D's in the corner so that it is clear with everyone where you are talking about at all times. You could even just put dots on the side to denote which parks, like a stop sign. You may be experts and know what park you're talking about, but your audience, who does not know Disney and has to live vicariously through you because they are poor, may not know. Plus, someone who wants to go to a restaurant, and they think it's in one location, and it is only in Florida may want to know. See… you talk about Animal kingdom, and it's associated restaurants and I don't know when you are talking about California, Florida or both.

  28. They look more like the restrooms in some state parks horrible design again they are not delivering what was promised us back in 2002 that was updated villas in highly styled resorts

  29. Can’t say I disagree with Disney’s stance on the “tour guides”. You don’t get to hop on someone else’s business and make money.

  30. Dick Nunis was a Disney legend in every sense of the word. I remember seeing him with Becky Cline at the last D23 convention and he had me in tears from laughing so hard at all his colorful anecdotes about his time with the company and all the changes he either implemented or fought against. He was a man after Walt's own heart who truly cared about the guests and making sure they had the best time possible at the parks. His presence will be deeply missed but his legacy will continue to live on in those were privileged to know and work with him as well as the fans whose lives he touched. RIP Dick Nunis. I hope you receive the highest honor in whatever place is reserved for legends like you.

  31. It’s almost like if Disney’s service wasn’t over priced affluenza case execs third parties wouldn’t swoop in and provide a cheaper service.
