Hello everyone! We decided to pick a random subway station in the Greater Seoul Area and explore the nearby area as the start of our new series which we will continue over time. We ended up picking Gaori Station (가오리역), which neither of us had even heard of before, but when we arrived we were absolutely blown away with how nice it was. First of all, the modern city feel of Seoul disappeared and it felt like traveling to another city in the countryside, with old buildings everywhere. First we discovered Jangmewon Market (장미원골목시장), a traditional market with a lot of Korean charm that feels like going back in time. Then, we went to the April 19th National Cemetery (4.19민주묘지), a massive memorial for the students who fought for justice in 1960 after a rigged election, in which 186 people were killed. Then we went to the Bukhansan Dulle Trail (북한산둘레길), and saw how the beautiful nature was intertwined with the neighbourhood, which led to Bogwangsa (보광사), one of the biggest temples we had ever seen. And finally, the trail led us back down to Solbat Neighbourhood Park (솔밭근린공원), which is one of the nicest parks we have ever seen in Seoul. Our first time exploring Seoul randomly was an absolute success, and the neighbourhood surrounding Gaori Station really blew us away as a beautiful neighbourhood tucked away in the mountains in Seoul that not many people get a chance to see.

  1. Thank you for this new Video. I found it very interesting and it shows that you don't always have to travel far.
    Please more of this ❤

  2. I recently got back from Korea, splitting my time between Seoul and Busan. I loved the food and the visit but I couldn't get over how non-hospitable the people were. I'm assuming it's a cultural thing but some were very friendly while others seemed rude, forcing me to make decisions as if I had years to study the choices. Living in France, I thought I was accustomed to handle curt attitude but the French has nothing on the Korean (especially women) when it comes to giving off "I don't give a f*ck" mannerism.

  3. In one short video, we get to see the invisible that comes forth from the heart of Korea…friendliness, helpfulness, humility, respect and unity. Thank you Matt and Yujin for stepping out and being there to see, sense and feel the beauty of a simple life.

  4. What a great video, Matt and Yujin! This is the real Korea and thank you for sharing. Would love to see more of these. 정말 잘했어요!

  5. Personally, this is one of my favourite videos you’ve done. Something special about finding joy in places and people around you. And I loved the little interactions and commentary. Just wanted to share this feedback, hoping it encourages you to make more. Until next time!

  6. Thanks for the video. I like this formula. The content is good and length is right. I hope it is a hit! Regards

  7. Mind-blowing discoveries! I feel like there's a "Hidden Seoul" coffee-table book just waiting to be written… Maybe by you two 🙂

  8. Im looking at Yujin's shoes, can you tell me what brand are you wearing Yujin. I guess i don't need snow boots. I know there will be a lot of walking so I have walking shoes but not for cold weather. Cold here is around 60s! 😂 Im going to Seoul in February, I'm from California & not used to cold. Any tips?

  9. I love your content so much! Please keep making YouTube videos. I hope your channel gets more attention soon. Fighting!

  13. Hi guys, I have to say that I concur with the others here. That was a great video and a brilliant way to keep discovering and exploring simple. It reminded me of our last few days in Seoul before flying back home. Heading out without too much of an agenda, just seeing what could be found on the hoof. Looking at your video makes me wish that my front door opened in Korea.
    Keep up the good work.
    Kind regards Leo
