See what it was like in our Shanghai in 1 Day tour via our cruise line (Princess). This was a debark Highlights of Shanghai tour which occurred at the end of our 14 Day Asia cruise that would later take us to the airport ( Shanghai Pudong International Airport PVG in our case).
We boarded the motorcoach tour bus at the Shanghai Cruise Terminal ( and rode nearly an hour to reach the old town area of the city. We walked to Yuyuan Old Street/Shanghai Lao City God Temple Snack Square, seeing and tasting some yummy local Shanghai Chinese street food in the process. It was a foodies paradise of sorts as you can see in the video. There were even familiar names such as Starbucks & Dairy Queen at the Song Yun Tower. It was amazing to see the sheer number of people just walking around perusing the eateries and shops. You can also get an idea shopping of some of the things on sale that could be souvenirs, including silk goods.
Once at the Yu Gardens, our excellent tour guide did a nice job telling which each area is, with some history, along with a humorous story of Chinese tradition on marriage matchmaking.
You can find out more about Yu Garden here:
We went to the He Feng Lou (和丰楼) for lunch. It was a paradise of sorts for Chinese food, dim sum, but it was so crowded that it was very difficult to find a place to sit and eat, and the cashier was very rude. Food tasted pretty good, however.
It was then time to head to The Bund. On the way we saw the Shanghai Tower, the second tallest building, not just in Shanghai, not just in China, but in the World. Huangpu Park was the area of the Bund where the bus parked and where we took in beautiful views of the Shanghai skyline.
We then visited the Jade Buddha Temple where we saw some impressive Buddha statues, include one made out of pure Jade.
Finally we were driven to the PVG airport to catch our flight back to the USA. This was from our 14 night Asia Cruise on the Princess Cruises Majestic Princess. Enjoy and please comment or ask any question and we’d be happy to answer!
