Tom, I agree with you. These new "cabins" are hideous.
Have you been to Fort Wilderness? There is nothing special nor rustic about the existing cabinsā¦vaulted ceilings and cheap plastic shower surrounds do not constitute rustic. Also they are essentially wood clad āparkā model trailers. These updates while not emulating a Rocky Mountain getaway are at least tasteful.
The folks who go there also arenāt there to truly experience the wilderness or outdoors. Not when they are hauling a 33ft jayco trailer and golf cart. Those who want to have such experiences are renting cabins or camping in the Adirondacks, Algonquin Park etc. I think youāve lost the plot here and honestly youāre so negative these days that itās very hard to watch your rants. Maybe when you feel the urge to rage at the clouds grab yourself an āedibleā and I promise things wonāt seem so bad. š
Yep!! I have the same rage with the new Floridian āresort studiosā! I didnāt want that and didnāt buy that glorified hotel room. Putting that contract on the resale market this year because of this reason. If I want one of the hotel rooms Iāll just pay cash. Didnāt buy DVC for the hotel room experience. They are wrong to keep doing this.
Here's the deal with the cabins, when KOA has better cabins at better prices than Disney, you got problems.
Fort Double-wide
That "Story Beyond" art makes me want a Haunted Mansion anime.
The ānewā cabins are the result of that DVC resort getting canceled. If that resort had been built the old cabins wouldāve never been touched Iād imagine.
About a year a go or so, there was mention of The Main Street Electrical Parade possibly coming back to Wald Disney World. Is there any update on that?
I honestly miss family style trails end, my family had some great times theyāre
I agree the new cabins are not a good fit, and while the cascade cabins are a good fit , the Fort Wilderness cabins š¤®
I think the new cabin evokes Barbie Dream House -I guess there is an audience for that š
Agree with the cabins and marks the larger problem. Iger has gut the soul of Disney, replacing or firing anyone with talent while buying properties and calling it building
The all new dvc trailer park
The cabins could at least mimic the craftsman style of the Grand Californian, which is the style of the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park.
I just stayed at the cabins and I agree they need an update but not an overhaul like this just an update on the cabins. I would love for them to keep the cabin theme
Once again, Ikea cheapness….Disney, and I hate calling it Disney now, but wacky world keeps making changes for the worse….smh
It's a "Boxabl"
Tom, you have to understand that the original Walt Disney World engineering, designer's, interior designer, imaginears are retired and gone. You will never see the beauty and magic Walt Disney World was known for again….and this generation that go to Disney doesn't know any better. I've been going to Disney since 1976 and I agree with you….but you have to understand it's not WALT DISNEY WORLD anymore. Again. they need fo change the name instead of giving Walt Disney a bad rap!!!
Yep this will make Fort Wilderness a was!! These cabins are a complete embarrassment and in no way resemble a ācabināā¦. They are ruining what was Disney one resort and one park at a time!! Sad times.
So sad about the cabins š
I hate the Epcot Spaceship Earth being lit….I wish they would stop changing EVERYTHING….it's just a ball of lights now.
Sorry I am so ready for the cabin update….they were dark and looked used.
As a DVC member, Fort Wilderness was never something that I would considerā¦these ācabinsā have not changed my view. We splurge on vacation, why would I want to simulate something that I can do at home when Iām away. Never really made sense to us, but I do get the charm of the original Fort Wilderness. This is a step in the wrong direction for Disney.
I stayed in those as a kid when they were "trailers". I loved when they made them cabins! I feel like they look more like trailers now than cabins. When I stay in the woods I prefer a wooden cabin NOT a trailer/tiny home! Spot on Tom!
I could not agree with you any more than I do. I just spent 4 nights/5 days in a cabin at Fort Wilderness. I wanted to get to stay here before it becomes DVC, and probably out of my price range. I have bittersweet feelings on this. I absolutely LOVED it. I loved the cabin, the Fort as a whole, EVERYTHING about this resort and the cast members and guests with whom I shared the Fort. I hate that they are changing these to DVC. I'm a moderate person – I always stay in that price range. I won't be able to stay once these are DVC. Beyond that, you are spot on with your assessment of the new cabins. They look horrible. HORRIBLE. That is NOT a cabin. I'm very sad about this, and angry that this decision was made. It does seem like a money grab. The cabins were up for renovation/replacement, and opted to have DVC bankroll it. Well, that completely destroyed the vibe and the purpose of the cabins.
The cabins look more mardon more Blane I think it should be more fronter more rustic more wododies feeling that looks more like a cabin this is fort wilderness is losing it identity to me
They turned it into Pop Century Wilderness.
Ha! And I thought the "Pizza Hut" cabins (that block the views from the 1st floor rooms at the Poly) were their worst idea…..
As a DVC member and Ft Wilderness fan this makes me sad. I thought it was Toy Story themed. Those colors are all over the place. Seating for 3 in a so called cabin for 6! It honestly looks like a garden shed made from a shipping container. This makes me fear for the refurbishment at Hilton Head. The original imagineers nailed the fishing cabin theme. I'm afraid. You nailed the word. It's a shame.
Our first thoughts were āouthousesā
They could have even done a modern version of 1890ās Stick Style and it would have been greatā¦
Something tells me the Captain Nemo food will feature tentacles. š
these are horrible. It's "camping" for Subaru driving, gated community, Whole Foods shopping white people who never have gotten their $190 dollar nikes dirty, cringe at the thought of mosquitoes and have never sweat a day in their lives. This is bougie garbage. I LAUGH at the morons who buy into this crap.
the new cabins are bad but idk I think the renovations at the grand floridian and contemporary take the cake for worst āmodernizationā š
I'm expecting that there will be changes to the RV/camping also. Gotta get more $$ from each square foot, and all that sense of community from the people who come their annually and do such things as the over-the-top Christmas decorations are a nuisance to be squashed.
The concept art looks like they are built out of shipping containers.
Ok, I cant take no more of the complaint videos from this channel, I really use to like this channel but is just too much complaint about anything and everything. time to unfollow..
So upset about the destruction of the cabins.
