THE PARABLE:
“Once upon a time, there was a Jamaican civil engineer living in New York City who hated his job. He followed his passion, started a sideline business, quit his job, escaped the rat race, ran off to a tropical island in the Pacific, and started a tourism business so he could give tours of the island to pretty girls every day! He now lives a nomadpreneur’s dream life, while helping others do the same!” Read more and download Jamaican on Saipan at: https://jamaicanonsaipan.com. “Simply because you were born within the borders of one society does not mean you are suited or wired for, honored or best served by, nor destined or obligated to seek your happiness within that society. There is bliss beyond borders.” — Walt Goodridge

“It takes far less effort to find and move to the society that has what you want than it does to try to reconstruct an existing society to match your standards.” — Harry Browne, How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World

  1. The Japanese understood how critical Mariana Island airbases would prove to be. As I recollect (so check my numbers to be sure) there were around 30,000 Japanese troops on Saipan and fewer than 1,000 were taken alive in the end. Thousands were killed during the largest Banzai attack of the war. US losses were heavy as well, though much lower than those of the Japanese. I don't know what civilian losses were but they must have been dreadful. It is hard to conceive of the scale of that horror, especially on such a beautiful, peaceful island.
