Coco Curry is Martina’s favorite food in Japan. No joke. We both love it, and we’ve wanted to do a video about it for a long time now. Today, we will finally share what CoCo Curry is all about.

And, no, this video is not sponsored. We actually just really like CoCo Curry. A lot. A lot a lot. We actually ate it today, while editing this video. We just wanted to share it because we love it.

  1. Careful!! People in Japan call it "Ichibanya" and will have no idea what "Coco Curry" is. Learned that the hard way!! 😅
It's like how everyone says "Baskin Robins" but Japanese people know it as "サーテイワン" or "thirtyone" like "baskin robins thirty one flavors".

  2. I've heard that if you're white and/or if you don't speak Japanese and you ask for the "level 10 spicy" they won't give you level 10, but they'll give you like a 4 or 5.
My roommate had to first convince the staff that she could handle it in Japanese and she gets a 4 or 5. Her family is from Haiti and boooy can she handle spicy food loll

  3. The first time I ever had coco curry I went to that same restaurant a minimum of 3 times a week my entire freshman year. Thank god I was playing sports cause my freshman 30 would’ve turned into 60

  4. Hello from Lake Tahoe California. I'm eating Japanese style Curry and eating it with my mom's Kimchee.🍛😎👍

  5. Is this place called Coco Ichibanya? There's one opening up in San Diego next year and I'm kind of excited if it's the same.

  6. I love how you can choose how spicy it is I wish restaurants in the US did that. I’m super sensitive to spice but I’ve been trying to up my tolerance. I like just a little bit of spice.

  7. Watching one of the recent videos and this place came up, brings me back to 2016. Had a whole lot of Deja Vu

  8. My friend was stationed in Japan for a couple years, and when I asked him if he had heard about this place called CoCo Curry he went ecstatic explaining how much he loved that place. He then started questioning how I knew about it, so I had to let him in on this video ;p.

  9. I gotta say the voice over for the food was rather disconcerting and made me feel like i was watching a horror movie.

  10. I have lived in my current house for 10 years. There is CoCo Ichibanya 1 minute walk from my house, but I have never been there. ^_^;

  11. You've Inspired me to wander on down to my local Asian market and pick up some (mild) Japanese curry. Let's see how it is – it was amazing highly recommend though I got mild

  12. Don't think I've ever had Coco curry, but I fell in love with curry when I lived over there. I once went on a trip to Tokyo and that was practically all I ate. Since moving back Stateside, I hadn't been able to find a place that sold curry. I tried making it myself but it never got even remotely close to Japanese curry. A couple years ago a Japanese restaurant opened up in our town and actually had curry. I was almost in tears because it had been just over 10 years since I had last had curry.

  13. I miss watching your videos together… 🥺 These memories help soothe my sadness. Love you both so much.

  14. I first saw this video years ago and maybe about half a year ago just figured I would start making Japanese curry at home and love it so much, but recently during the process of moving googled to see if I could get some jcurry near where I live and found out they’re making a coco curry near where I live in Texas this winter and I’m super duper excited.

  15. I will never not miss them together but I understand we know nothing of behind the scenes… just know i love you both and hope for the best for you both. Know you were my drive to push my anxiety aside and try new things and i will forever be grateful to you both.

  16. I think coco curry is just the "Pollo Hermanos" From breaking bad, where they put a brick of cocaine in their curry batch and deliver it across japan

  17. I was stationed at Misawa Airbase in northern Japan and my happy place… Was the CoCo Curry in Hachinohe. I still daydream about it 13 years later. Nothing like it!

  18. Lol when I saw how much they liked it and the name I thought there’s crack in this I bet. Then Simon said coco maybe stands for cocaine I was like aight there we go 😂😂

  19. The history of the founder of Coco Curry would make you cry😢 The founder Mr. Munetsugu was an orphan and he was abused by adaptive father who was an alcoholic and poor. He had to eat weed because of poverty. He could attend school and do some parttime job only after his adaptive father died. He and his wife opened a cafe to serve his wife's homemade curry. It became Coco Curry.
Mr. Munetsugu are supporting poor youth and many artists of classic music now.
