So, I went to San Antonio for a few days because I wanted tacos and wanted to film the River Walk. Most of the tacos places were shut down and the River walk was drained. This is the footage.

If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it.

  1. Not to mention the other missions that are connected to the San Antonio river. there is plenty of history and things to do here in San Antonio and the surrounding areas

  2. Check out Southtown, North side, and Midtown/Tobin Hill if you go again. I especially love Tobin Hill because I attend the community college there. it's a very cool hipster neighborhood with lots of cool places to eat.

  3. Every neighborhood downtown is hood AF San Antone has over a million people. This city is huge stay away from the south side//west/east go north and you’ll like it

  4. For most of this you were just 8-12 blocks from my house. Even though you came during the annual draining of the river it's fun to see what they pull of it. You at least got to the Tower of the Americas after they skimmed the scum off the water. Next time you are in town and looking for a place to eat check out Smoke Shack for BBQ, Chunky's for burgers.

  5. Not a FAIL, I give you an Incomplete! 😉
Pretty hard to do justice to the 7th largest city in America in 5 minutes and when you stay only in a few blocks area.
San Antonio is about a smart, creative, rich in culture and history location, that began many interesting centuries ago before becoming metropolitan and is still evolving.
We are significantly competitive with all other cities in many categories
It’s not about the N, S, E West sides, it’s about the entire population and we are good people that make a large city, seem like a friendly town.
Glad you came, sorry you didn’t stay. 🌻Laura

  6. Dude – I live in San Antonio. You missed some cool places. The Buckhorn Museum – huge collection of horns and antlers. Don't eat there, its terrifically overpriced. The Menger Hotel. Haunted. Teddy Roosevelt hangout. Beautiful statue of William Travis. Cathedral of San Fernando – has the tomb of Davey Crockett, William Travis and Jim Bowie.
The Mission Trail – 4 circa 1700 Spanish Missions. Guided tours available. If you were disappointed just cause of the River Walk, you didn't try hard enough to have a good time. Market Square – 3 block plaza of beautiful colonial architecture and tons of vendors of Mexican stuff plus the Mi Tierra restaurant. Killer Mexican food, open 24 hours, Mariachi players at your table. Geez – you could spend the whole day there!

  7. I'm from San Antonio. Your video cracked me up! I'm going to have to share this video with my family. Thanks for visiting! ( :

  8. The Ripleys and some other tacky tourist stuff is going away to make room for the expansion of the Alamo grounds. The original footprint of the place included those areas.

  9. Thank you so much!!! My husband and I watch you all the time and love your content! We moved to San Antonio about 10 months ago from California after much research on where we wanted to escape to from Cali- your videos were among many we watched while doing our research before finding our new home here 😁🤠 ..would have loved to have said hello to you and shared a cup ☕️ or 🍻! Thanks again!

  10. Yes ditch (river) does get cleaned once a year. We locals have fund with it and have the annual mud festival. There are other areas of the city have culture and charm but not on the broad scale of downtown. BTW downtown is a flood plain in the early days of the city it made for good farm land. In the early 20th century it became a death trap. We built Olmos dam and two massive tunnels that run under downtown to channel the water away. The Riverwalk and San Pedro Creek are the surface areas of the water runoff. and those carefully channeled also.

  11. They are closing some of those carnie businesses down and moving to another locale as the city tries to restore some historic value to that area..

  12. SA river is a damn drainage ditch. I laugh at all the idiots flocking to it like it's some majestic river. It's filthy and full of garbage. There's nothing beautiful about it.

  13. Sorry you had to catch the River Walk during it's annual cleaning. Unfortunately it has to be done every year to get rid of the junk and to also clean it of any parasitic fish. There's so much more than the River Walk though! Oh, and a lot of that "touristy stuff" you saw there like Ripley's is about to be shut down for construction of a new Alamo museum with a lot of things donated by none other than singer Phil Collins, he's a huge fan of the Alamo and its history.

  14. Briggs I love your videos and am so disappointed the trip was a bust. I live downtown and work for the largest residential urban, infill developer in the city and know downtown and the surrounding areas like the back of my hand. Next time you're in town hit me up and i'll show you all the best spots. San Antonio doesn't get enough good press. And there's so much to do in a city that's this big and this affordable. I hope your next trip is better.

  15. I moved from Denver to San Antonio a few months ago and LOVE it! Relatively cheap home prices, traffic is not bad for a major city, excellent food, and very friendly and chatty people everywhere. Too bad you went when they drained the river; otherwise, it is such a lively, beautiful public space. Few people realize is that the riverwalk is 15 miles long and is very well maintained. Lot's of great old architecture indeed; the King William District just south of downtown is very nice, with a bunch of large, pre-civil war era homes built by German immigrants. Has a NOLA Garden District feel to it. There are also some excellent museums outside of downtown around Brackenridge Park (the Witte) and the McNay close to Alamo Heights, just NE of downtown. It's a great, LOW KEY city where it's still easy to park and cheap to go places, and tons of history. Don't even get me started on the 4 other 18th century missions just south of downtown; collectively they form a national park and a few are outstandingly preserved. It's a great low key town where it's easy to park and get around and do things on the cheap, and very warm and welcoming people. ..it's the anti-Austin if you will!

  16. you came here smack dab in the middle of Rodeo season ( which is located maybe 10 mins away from downtown) and you didn't check it out?! you missed out!

  17. Ever hear of the 6Ps? Prior planning prevents p!ss poor performance. San Antonio is a beautiful city with much to see and do. Perhaps you should put the camera down and look at things with your eyes.

  18. OK YOU OTHER STATES TRANSPLANTS, VOTE REPUBLICAN DON'T VOTE DEMONRAT EVER AGAIN, Y'ALL ARE RUINING OUR CITY, EVEN THE MAYOR A COMMIE-PROGRESSIVE AND POLICE CHIEF ( VIOLATED FEDERAL LAW ON UNVETTED ILLEGALS UNDER HIS CUSTODY AND DIDN'T TURN OVER TO I.C.E. HE SHOULD'VE BEEN FIRED)AND FIRE CHIEF ALL TRANSPLANTS. EX CITY MANAGER SCULLEY A PROGRESSIVE FROM ARIZONA IS STILL RUNNING THE CITY THRU THE DORK MAYOR WE HAVE
MAKING SAN ANTONIO INTO A SANCTUARY CITY. YOU MENTIONED STATUES, A CONFEDERATE STATUE FROM TRAVIS PARK WAS REMOVED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT BY THE SAID PROGRESSIVE COMMIES LIKE THIEVES IN THE NIGHT. SECOND THOUGHT YOU TRANSPLANTS ARE RUINING THE WHOLE STATE OF TEXAS, Y'ALL PROB VOTED FOR" BETO"
MAYBE DOING YOUR HOMEWORK ON HIM AND HIS ENTIRE FAMILY THAT WAS CROOKED EVEN BEFORE BETO WAS ARRESTED TWICE…. BUT THAT'S A DEMONRAT FORTE!!! DID YOU GOOD DEMONRATS SEE THE ARTICLE ON MAYOR NIRENBERG A FEW WEEKS AGO. THIS QUACK ALONG WITH THE COMMUNIST COUNCIL PEOPLE WILL SPEND HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS ON HOMELESS… THAT MEANS HOMELESS ILLEGALS THAT ARE POURING INTO THIS COUNTRY BY THAT OTHER IDIOT PUPPET BIDEN, BUT SINCE Y'ALL ARE GOOD DEMONRATS YOU WON'T MIND THAT THE ILLEGALS KIDS WILL PUSH YOUR KIDS FROM EDUCATION, HOUSES, EMPLOYMENT? … WAKE UP SHEEPLE! NOT WOKE!!

  19. I live in San Antonio and the downtown River walk is cleaned every 2 years as for the Ripley's Believe It or Not and the Wax Museum should be closed soon and the buildings remodeled for a Alamo Museum and Visitor Center as the state and city are in the process of changing the plaza.

  20. San Antonian here. Watch out for the crime. Especially downtown and surrounding areas. Lots of crime. Drugs. Homeless. Shootings. Robberies. Theft.

  21. ALL of those touristy museums within Alamo Plaza are going away for good. Real soon. Will be replaced with more historical value and culture.

  22. Just moved to SA from NY. I don't like it. Need to travel around TX this summer and explore other cities here.

  23. Lesson: Call before making plans to go anywhere to make sure they are not doing things like maintance to mess with your trip. Sorry yours was not so good.

  24. DEMOCRATS ARE KILLING SAN ANTONIO LIKE ALL THE MAJOR CITIES,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,THE ALAMO IS A JOKE NOW,,WITH APPOINTMENTS TICKETS ALL THAT BS,,,

  25. Too bad you didn’t get to go to La Cantera or the RIM. Nice area. Yes, you did come a bad time when they drain the river. If you ever come back, come in April when we have Fiesta!! Beautiful video of our city.

  26. As a San Antonian there are way more things to do see and enjoy here. Right next to the Alamo is the oldest hotel in San Antonio, The Manger, which is haunted and has Bar that Davy Crockett had a few drinks at. Come back around and enjoy Fiesta 2022

  27. I have lived in San Antonio since the summer of 1980. We drain the river every year. You'd be amazed (or maybe not) of what is found at the bottom. We used to have a fesitival for the draining and even crown a Mud King and Queen.

Brackenridge Park is great as well where the Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Witte Musem, and DoSeum are at.

  28. I owe you a trip back to San Antonio next year! If I decide not to sell my airbnb, I’ll comp you a few nights during Fiesta! My airbnb is a few blocks from the Alamodome! Let me now!
