The US Marines recently fired the Mark 19 grenade launcher during Artillery Relocation Training Program 23.3 in the North Fuji Maneuver Area at Combined Arms Training Center Camp Fuji, Japan, on November 30, 2023.
The skills developed at ATP increase the proficiency and readiness of the only permanently forward-deployed artillery unit in the Marine Corps, enabling them to provide indirect fires.
The Mark 19 is a 40mm grenade machine gun that is used by the US military and other militaries around the world. It is a belt-fed weapon that can fire up to 320 rounds per minute.
The grenades can be fragmentation, high-explosive, or smoke grenades. The Mark 19 is a very effective weapon against infantry, vehicles, and fortifications.
The Artillery Relocation Training Program is a training program that is designed to train Marines on how to relocate artillery pieces in a timely and efficient manner. The program also teaches Marines how to set up and operate artillery pieces in new locations.
