After an epic few months hanging out in New Zealand it was time to Go! There was a definite chill in the air. The bilges were full of provisions and we were finally ready.
Leaving port and going offshore is a decision we don’t take lightly. One that includes pouring over weather forecasts in the weeks preceding our departure. Analyzing wave heights, swell period, wind and gust maps. Planning for alternate routes and ports. There’s a lot that goes into it. A lot of practice. Perhaps we were a bit out of practice having summered in New Zealand?
The passage from New Zealand to Fiji is one that includes a point of no return. A point where the only thing you can do is turn more downwind. And that is what we did. Our initial course had us stopping over in a place called Minerva Reef. After three days of bashing into waves with no end in sight and sailing angles that were getting tighter and tighter we pulled the trigger to skip beautiful Minerva reef. So hopefully this video gives you an idea of how wet and wild it can get out here. Yes, it’s not super comfy but it can still be fun in it’s own wierd, quirky way. Not to mention, it makes that first beer in that calm anchorage even sweeter!
Woot! we’re back in the tropics!!!

Just a crazy thought….. We're you not perhaps pregnant with Willa. Just days into conception. Glad that you are all back in the water
I don't know where I saw it on a video where this 100-foot catamaran has some type of stabilization system to keep everything calm and level in rough seas, this thing was top of the line I'm sure 10 mill plus, has anyone ever heard of this and do they work well, can you get it on a smaller yacht? just curious.
The Bird Probably Shit, Every time You Hot It With the Spotlight. Can't Startle the Wildlife 🙂
Good job guy s keep your heads. Up you all be ok
Leave the bird alone, ya big booby.!
They’ve gone nuts I think.
Those are big waves
I’d love for some real merchant mariners to analyze these ‘positive’ people
What's wrong with You People having a bird sitting on Your boat? Jeez a little bird poop which can be cleaned up with no problem (When You KNOW what you're doing). I've never seen anyone who wants to EXPLORE all the things in the world, yet have a problem with bird poop. Feed the bird, give it Fresh water and some food, friggin Idiot Canadian's, weirdo's!!! You can work on your boat after making idiot mistakes and breaking things, spend tons of money on BS, but yet, worried about one bird making a stain (which can be cleaned up!!!). Want to swim with sharks, but worried about ONE bird!!!
So, you're going to place wet-suits and wet gear in a place where it will drain down past electrical wires. HOW Smart is that? OH I know, idiots like to create problems. Yup!!!
2-3 weeks and have EIGHT, yeah 8 loads of laundry? !!??!! What, are they changing their panties every 5 minutes? OH & in one video back, Ben had to wait while Ashley IRONED her shirt, are You Serious??? WTF??
Never seen this episode before. The hatch leaking segment is so funny. I don't know if you guys edit it intentionally but Ashley's face going blurry and zooming into her eye had me rolling. Yeap, that's exactly how I feel looking for a monohull or catamaran to buy. You reeeeeeeally got to like doing this stuff.
This by far is the funniest episode to me. What do you guys think?
